“A moving story of second chances that left me with a huge smile on my face.” -Mary, USA Today HEA The summer before my senior year of high school I had only one goal: to make Alden Warner see me as more than his best friend’s annoying little sister. Finally, my wish came true and he noticed me. In a big way. Too bad that the next morning he had no memory of our night together, leaving me … leaving me heartbroken, and as I later discovered…pregnant.
For the last four years, I’ve been rocking the single mom thing, making sure my daughter comes first. In fact, everything is going fine—until Alden storms back into my life, as my new boss.
His reappearance wasn’t something I planned for. Add my nosy, meddlesome three-year-old and an overprotective brother, and I’m obviously in way over my head.
My only hope now is that I can sway Alden to see things my way…but you know what they say about the best laid plans…

I absolutely loved this second chance romance. I loved the fact that things built up slowly and then everything came crashing down all at once and it forced the main characters Natalie and Alden to face things that had happened.
Natalie wanted her brother’s best friend Alden and when he dream came true she took her chance and gave herself to Alden. The next morning Alden had no idea what happened and went on with life as normal. But that night was anything but normal for Natalie. She got something that would last her a lifetime. With this she has to move on and it is hard at first but then she gets into a routine.
That is until Alden comes back and is her new boss. Lord that is where the story gets so good. There are ups and downs secrets and lies uncovered and what happens between Alden and Natalie makes this book so swoon worthy. Alden is the man and in the end he does what is right.
This was a sweet romance with the humor I’ve come to love from this author. Second chances and the binds of family. This was a great read.
This is my first LK Farlow book and I was not disappointed. This is one of my new favorite stories! I loved Nat and Alden. Little Tatum was something else. So cute! This book had it all. The characters were amazing, the plot fantastic. Anyone who hasn’t read this, really needs to. So many gut wrenching emotions. My heart broke for them both. Nat is strong and brave. It’s not very often that I feel so much for a female character. Alden is so dreamy. He takes the hand he was dealt and is just so great with it. I loved this book!!
Yes yes yes….
1. The cover is gorgeous
2. The characters are amazing
3. The story was sweet, awesome, entertaining from beginning to end
4. The author is the sweetest
5. I did get teary eyed once or twice
6. You need to read this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Alden is seriously the best book boyfriend ever. I definitely want to know what happen with Nate.
Tatum is the cutest best 3 year old ever.
3.5 Stars
Brother’s best friend mixed with secret baby is a sure fire hit for me, and this one definitely didn’t disappoint!
Natalie’s life long crush on her brother’s best friend ended up in the most amazing/embarrassing night of her. Four years later she’s rocking the single mom life, trying to get her degree, and dipping her toes in the online dating world. When the restaurant she works at is sold, the last person she expects to be her new boss is Alden. But her shock is nothing compared to the one she’s about to deliver to him.
Alden is back in his hometown, about to live his dream of owning the restaurant his grandparents sold years ago. Excited to reconnect with his childhood best friend, and hopefully run into Nate’s little sister. But she’s not so little anymore, and not only is she his new employee, she has a bomb to drop on him he never expected.
I really enjoyed the added twist to this one, not only does Alden not know he’s a father, he doesn’t even realize they slept together. Obviously a secret like that has major repercussions, and I’m happy that those weren’t glossed over. Instead the emotional fallout was explored, and written perfectly. I loved how Natalie & Alden were both center stage throughout, neither outshining the other. And then there’s Tatum. I absolutely love children in books, especially when they are center stage and bonding with a newfound parent. I adored her, the energy and wonder portrayed through Tatum was written so well, and made the story that much better.
This was my first book by LK Farlow, and I’m excited to read more!
This book is probably the worse idea for a hormonal pregnant woman to read, but has been one of my favorites! I loved this book and the characters in it. I had cuteness overload with an adorable little girl, who by far is the star of the book. I had happy tears, angry tears, and of course sad ones too throughout this book. Most of all I loved the chemistry between these characters and how well the story just flows. You cant help wanting to know more and more about them.
Another great read from LK Farlow!
For me, this was my 1st try reading Lk Farlow, but it definitely won’t be my last!
From the 1st page until the book ended I was left cheering, yelling and hoping for the best for the characters that the author brought to us in her newest release. Her portrayal’s were so realistic that I felt like I was there through it all.
This book had it all with brother”s best friend, teen love as well as possible second chances, that every reader who enjoys a good romance can find something that will grab them in.
As I started, this was my 1st try with this author but I will definitely be adding her books to my tbr! And I highly recommend you do the same!
Brothers best friend/friends to lovers books are really hit and miss. A lot of it seems to come from me disliking the back and forth with the lead h and in her head space crap. THIS book had none of that.
While Natalie didn’t make the best decisions I can see the “why” behind it. I do wish she had explained it to Alden better when the time came. But her memory of that time is probably a little fuzzy. Kids tend to take your memory away. Speaking of kids, Tatum is just the cutest thing ever. Whatever Natalie did in those 3 yrs, she did right.
Alden was a hot mess in a way. We really don’t get the full impact of his relationship with Mia to understand the fullness of his anger and angry he was. Which I get, but come on dude. If he and Tatum looked so much alike why hadn’t Nate picked up on it or himself if he ever saw a picture of her.
I loved the entire story. It didn’t drag. There was good angst, if that is even a thing.
I loved this so much!! Every time LK Farlow comes out with a new book I love it more than the last! I don’t think I could even choose my favorite now because I just love them all. Alden and Natalie’s story was so beautiful and I loved their chemistry. They just fit together perfect. And I absolutely could not get enough of Tatum. She was the sweetest little thing. I can’t wait for more from LK Farlow!!
Natalie and Alden
Her brothers best friend, a crush, finally he sees her. It was one night at a party her senior year. Alden had finally noticed Natalie. They shared a night but in the morning the only one that remembered was Natalie. Too embarrassed to replay it for him she left. Now fours years later she is a single mom, working her butt off to provide for her daughter. She never told anyone who the baby’s dad was. Alden is back he is ready to take over the family business much to his surprise the lovely little Natalie works there and she is a single mom…how didn’t he know , when did she become more beautiful than he remembered . Finally the truth will come out and it may destroy everything. Is it possible to pick the pieces after everything falls apart! Loved it . The memories, the fresh start and that beautiful, funny little girl that is such a breath of fresh air!

My heart breaks for Natalie. She’s had feelings for Alden forever. She finally gets a night with him and he can’t remember. She finds out she’s pregnant and has to hold onto that secret without her family. Because Alden is her brother’s best friend. Fast forward 4yrs. and he’s her new boss. So the story begins. Natalie has a heart of gold always thinking of others. Alden is such a sweetheart and Tatum is awesome and so full of spunk. I loved all the characters. I couldn’t wait to get to the end and see their happily ever after finally happen. Definitely recommend.
I recieved a Advanced readers copy and I’m leaving a Voluntary review
I’ve been following LK Farlow since she started and her books just keep getting better. I absolutely loved this book! The writing captivates me and keeps me engaged in the story. I loved Natalie, Alden, and Tatum. The chemistry between adult Alden and Natalie is evident just watching them together in the same room. I hope we get to see more from these characters!
I loved this book! It had so much going for it! I loved Alden and Natalie so hard! Beautiful second chance romance!
I had heard good things about this story so I decided to take a chance on this new author. I’m far from being disappointed. An amazing second chance 5 star romance.
Alden and Natalie get a second chance after over 3 years being apart. What was Nathalie’s best night of her life, Alden didn’t remember. She finds herself pregnant at 17. This is there second chance to make it right.
I enjoyed immensely this highly romantic, breathtaking story. It’s like a breath of fresh air reading this beautifully written story. I loved everything about it. The characters were perfectly created and developed. I enjoy stories with children in them, they sweeten up the storyline.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
ABest Laid Plans is a sweet, entertaining and light-hearted romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. Natalie had a major crush on Alden when she was a teenager and her only wish was for him to one day see her as more than his best friend’s kid sister. One night of passion leads to Natalie getting pregnant and unfortunately Alden doesn’t remember that night(he was drunk out of his mind) therefore she decides against telling him. Years later they reunite and this is where their story takes off in the best way! What I liked the best about Natalie and Alden’s story and their characters is that they were completely relatable. I found myself laughing and smiling big while reading this book. Their little daughter Tatum was a hysterical, outstanding and unforgettable character.
Best Laid Plans storyline is solid, touching and heartfelt. I recommend that you take a chance on this book as you will not be disappointed.
Be prepared to get all the feelings with this story!
With a few pages in, I knew it was going to be a wild and an emotional ride, but either way the agony and the most painful tugs at my heart caught me off guard, as well as me shedding tears did.
But, how could I not live this whole experience if the writing made me feel the characters emotions through the deepest parts of me, they touched me and moved me. At some point, all I wanted to do was get into the story and give everybody a hug because I knew they were hurting. I loved how real the characters were and how their fears, flaws and emotions were portrayed.
This book was filled with emotion, laughter and swoon worthy moments. I loved how Alden and Natalie fell in love with the other as parents to Tatum, but also remembering the feelings they had when they were younger. They are so passionate, so fit for each other and when they were together I got all giddy and had me rooting for them with every turn of the pages.
Emotional, fun and swoony.
I loved Natalie and Alden’s story! Tatum will steal your heart! Natalie has loved her brother’s best friend for a long time. So she decides at the start of her senior year in high school to seduce him, only it backfires because he is drunk and wakes up with no memory of their night together. Natalie remembers all too well and has to live with the result of their one night, a baby. When Alden comes back to town to take over his grandparents’ cafe, he is in for the shock of a lifetime–instant fatherhood! Sometimes the best laid plans are the ones we do not see coming! 5 stars
Best Laid Plans by LK Farlow
5++++ Stars (another best for 2018!!)
Phenomenal!! Astonishing!! Heart warming! Emotional. Love. Angst. Well-written! Great characters!
Natalie has a huge crush on her brother’s best friend. That one night, Alden was so drunk he doesn’t remember exactly what happened. Natalie at seventeen turns up pregnant. Alden seemed to have moved on with a different person. So Natalie decides to be a single mom. Alden goes to Culinary school and plans to run his family’s diner. Alden shows back into town and that is when things start to change…
“The universe took my best laid plans and turned them upside down and now… now life’s better than I ever thought it could be.”
“You’re the love of my life and, to me, you’ll always be beautiful.”
This is my new favourite LK Farlow book. This book was emotional, heartwarming and beautiful.
Alden, Natalie and Tatum were just the cutest. Alden and Nat worked amazing together and just had the cutest chemistry. It was realistic and charming.
The depth of this story just wowed me and took me to a place of pure happiness. It was a fairytale romance with a beautiful ending and I couldn’t put it down. Every page had me wanting more and more I loved this story it had everything you want in a book. Happiness, angst, passion, cuteness, depth, love, forgiveness and most of all amazing characters. This is a must read if I could give it more than five stars I would.
Another new to me author, another fabulous story! This is truly my most favorite thing about blogging!
Best Laid Plans is the story of Natalie and Alden. A young crush, a momentous night for Natalie. For Alden, he was fighting his feelings for his best friends little sister. A fantasy that follows him for years….or was it just a fantasy.
Fast forward years and you see the consequences of that night.
You see the struggle of Natalie, a young mom making decisions she feels was right at the time but come back to haunt her later.
You see the frustration of Natalie’s family as they try to move forward with the information they are given.
You see the anger and the scars of past relationships that shape Alden and how he receives the news of his past.
You see the love that has survived the years. You see the chemistry between Alden and Natalie that hasn’t faded. You feel the forgiveness and you see the bright future of this couple.
This was a fast paced, lovely story! The secondary characters brought a richness to this story and I am excited to see if Ms. Farlow will be writing stories about a couple of them!
This story isn’t just all hearts and flowers. It shows real emotions and how a decision can affect the whole family. Well done!
