This is the latest in the Wendy Wax “Beach” series. I have thoroughly enjoyed following the ladies adventures. If you like realistic characters with real life problems to solve, you will enjoy this series.
Predictable
Best Beach Ever by Wendy Wax is the sixth novel in Ten Beach Road series. January 2 has rolled around, and the ladies have moved out of Bella Flora, so tenant can move in. They have into their cottages at the Sunshine Hotel. Madeline Singer is getting ready to go on tour with her rocker boyfriend, Will. Kyra and her son, Dustin will be departing in two weeks for Orlando where Dustin will make his acting debut in his father’s, Daniel Deranian new film. Kyra is not looking forward to spending six weeks in the company of Daniel’s wife, Tonja Kay. Nicole Grant Giraldi and her husband, Joe are busy as the parents of active twin daughters. Nicole has not lost her baby weight and is unhappy with her body image. Avery has a new project designing a tiny home. She likes Chase Hardin, but she is unable to commit. Something is holding her back. Bitsy Baynard realizes her husband is not returning (it has been over a year), and she is trying to locate Bertrand along with the money he stole. These ladies are friends (family) through the good times and the bad. They have been through rough times and come out the other side better for it. Come along for another journey with the ladies and see if they get their happily ever after.
Best Beach Ever is my favorite book in the series. It is a well-written and engaging story. You do need to read the Ten Beach Road series in order or you will be lost. There are too many characters and backstories. These ladies have been on a journey. They were taken advantage of in a Ponzi scheme and received Bella Flora as a settlement. They had a successful television show and then lost it. They now must rent out Bella Flora to recoup their loss. The benefit is they are all together at the Sunshine Hotel and Beach Club. These women have a great friendship. Maddie is the matriarch of the group and she dispenses valuable wisdom to the group. It has been lovely to watch these women grow over the course of the series. I admit to being frustrated with Kyra and Avery in this installment (just wanted to shake some sense into them). It was nice to watch each woman come into her own. It is a sweet, feel good novel. I am giving Best Beach Ever 4 out of 5 stars. Best Beach Ever is the perfect summer novel.
Best Beach Ever is a perfect book to start my summer. I want to go stay with Nikki, Kyra, and the rest of the wonderful women. I want the beach sunsets with the women toasting their lives, the listening to the trials of their days, and to find the happiness they find with each other and in their lives together.
There are many sub-stories that come together to tell the story of the Ten Beach Road ladies. Anyone who reads should find at least one character they connect with. There is great diversity in the characters. Nikki is an older mom of twins who is overwhelmed with life but wanting to prove that she can handle it all. Kyra is dealing with life as a single mom and an ex who is expecting more than she feels she can give. Avery is afraid to commit to the man she loves. Bitsy is a person who is looking for revenge on her ex-husband. With each character, there was something I could relate to and could feel what they were feeling in life.
This is a series. The book can be read without reading the rest of the book in the series but I think the reader will miss some of the most special, important moments of the book if they don’t know the history of the characters. The back stories are important to know why they are how they are now and what they truly need out to be happy.
I would recommend this Book for a relaxing easy read!! The characters were some what entertaining,in a superficial way!! The Story Entertaining ,in a relaxing way!
The Best Beach Ever, as with all Wendy Wax reads, was a great book! This is a sequel, but I can’t remember the others that came before it. You can find them, though, by looking up the author, and reading the intros. They all take place in the St. Petersburg, FL area. It revolves around five women, who, for various reasons, cone together, resulting from bad luck experiences, most of which stem from a Ponzi scheme. I think you will love it as much as I.
The Do-Over ladies are back and I was so happy to receive this ARC from Wendy Wax. I dove right in and thoroughly savored every bit of this book.
I will tell you why I think that this installment is my favorite so far.
We really get in-depth with the ladies and their issues
The focus is on the ladies in this book and I really felt like I got to know each of them a bit better by the end of the book
I loved the multiple story-lines of their lives
Maddie, Nikki, Avery, Kyra, and Bitsy seem so real to me and with each book in this series the ladies have developed in character so much I feel as if I actually know them!
Their friendship has grown immensely since the first book in this series and I love to see these women cheering each other on rather than resenting each other.
The ladies are now living in cottages at the Sunshine Hotel and Beach Club and feeling relief that their troubles have come to an end, financially that is , except for Bitsy who is broke due to her horrible low life husband Bertrand who disappeared with a stripper and all of Bitsy’s money! Each of the ladies is sttruggling with their new reality life rather than a reality show. Nikki is trying to do everything for her twins on her own and is exhausted but feeling like she needs something more than just being a wife and mother. I could definitely relate to Nikki. Avery keeps pushing Chase away but at the same time wants him all to herself. Maddie still is feeling unworthy of her mega famous rock star Will’s love and is still wondering why her out of all the women that Will could have. I just love Will and Maddie together and their romance is probably my favorite one in this book. Maddie struggles to fit into Will’s life on the road but seems to find a niche for herself with the tour. Now Kyra is the one that I wanted to shake and say wakeup!! Daniel the famous movie star is a shallow, self serving and egotistical jerk. I was rooting for Kyra and Troy to get together but Kyra is just still so drawn to Daniel. Bitsy I think really finds herself in this installment , she finds out about people that really have nothing in life and realizes that yes while she has lost all of her money she still has a roof over her head and a strong support group with the women.
I am putting this book at the top of my favorite books that I have read so far this year. This book is my favorite beach read of 2018. I look forward to next year to see what Maddie, Nikki, Avery, Kyra, and Bitsy are up to and how they are doing.
Best Beach Ever, a novel by Wendy Wax, was surprisingly written right in my backyard. As a resident of Florida, living in Pinellas County (St Petersburg-Clearwater area for those unfamiliar), I was shocked when I started to read this book and I recognized all of the locations mentioned by the author. But, having never read any of the books in the Ten Beach Road series, I was left feeling like an uninvited guest overhearing a conversation.
I read a lot of books and many of those books are part of series. Most books in those series, while they may mention previous characters or situations, I’ve felt that most of those books are capable of standing alone. However, in Best Beach Ever, book six in the series, I felt that I was coming in having missed out on a lot of what was going on.
Unfortunately, for me, what that means is that I didn’t feel invested in the characters because I didn’t even really know them as they had been introduced (I think) in past books. I felt that the reader was to be expected to already know who all the players were.
The main gist of the series is that there is a group of women, friends, sisters, mothers, aunts, who help each other in the situations that they are going through. I felt that one of the plots that followed a woman whose husband had basically embezzled all of her money was fantastical. One of the woman’s friends was married to a member of the FBI and that man was able to set up the criminal husband and catch him to bring him to justice.
There was another much more plausible story of an actor, who gets a woman pregnant out of wedlock, and their son is asked to be a part of one of the man’s movies. Unfortunately, he tries to get her back under the nose of his current wife, who’s caring for their children.
Best Beach Ever was pretty easy to read (with exceptions written about above) and it can be read in a short period of time. However, if you’re going to read this book, I do recommend reading the whole series, in order, so that you don’t miss out on the rest of the story.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review of this book. This is another book in the Ten Beach Road Series. This is the first one that I have read however. I fell in love with the characters, and will be going back to read the rest of the series. This is one of the best group of female friends I have read about in a long time. They all have their own faults, but they support each other more than I have seen in a while. I LOVE this group of women! Maddie, Nikki, Avery, Kyra, & Bitsy are all trying to rebuild their lives and careers trying to figure out what to do with their lives. I absolutely loved this story!
