KILLIAN
Love can destroy a man. Bring him to his knees. That’s why I never let anyone get too close.
Until Eden.
When she crashes into my life, I’m ready to shoot her down. Instead, I fold like a house of cards.
Feisty.
Stubborn.
Irresistible.
She’s on a mission to knock down my walls. Dig up truths better left buried.
I need to convince her that walking away is the right choice…before it destroys us both.

This was a fantastic debut for Emery Rose. Eden and Killian are both trying outrun their painful pasts however they can, but they don’t bank on meeting and falling for each other. These two managed to work through their own issues, as well as help each other figure out how to make peace with what came before now. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series.
Adult readers only due to sexual content.
Eden thought she had it all figured out. Eden was with Luke since high school, she gave up art school to go to the same college as him so they could be together, he was going to be her forever. Eden was excited when she got the text from Like to come over. She was not happy with what she found.
Killian has partnered with his friend to run a bar so he can keep busy enough to forget his demons for a little bit. Killian is a love ’em and leave ’em type because he has to much baggage already. So why does her hire her?
I really liked this one. The author shows us how even damaged would can be beautiful if you take the time to look under all bruises. Killian’s character was extremely damaged, traumatized, but with someone to believe in him and force him to accept it, his inner beauty comes out.
Eden has a loving family. She was dealt a crappy hand with the choices she made, but it didn’t make her character bitter, she just picks her self up and moved on, that has a beauty of its own.
This is a really great story of overcoming difficulties, hope, and love.
RECOMMENDED
Wow! This book was so much more than I Expected! It was instant sucked into Edens world. I loved how it wasn’t a sudden happily ever after. The relationship had time to build. Killan was the right amount of broody alpha that I love. All the supporting characters made the main ones that much better. I couldn’t read it fast enough! I will definitely be reading more from this author!!
I really really enjoyed this book! I’ve never read anything by Emery Rose before but I’ll definitely have to check out her other books.
I loved Killian & Eden! Oh Eden was awesome, she was hilarious, caring, creative, independent, strong & an awesome friend. Killian had so much to overcome in his life & Eden completed him in a way that he desperately needed.
Their story was such an enjoyable read. I love a book where the group of friends feels like family & this book had that in spades. I can’t wait to read the other books in this series!
4.5 Cranky Stars
I already had some knowledge of Killian and Eden because I read book three first. Yes, they can be read as standalones but for the ultimate experience I suggest you start here. I’ve read some damaged tortured heroes in my day, but Killian takes the cake.
Killian “The Kill” Vincent is a former MMA star with a tragic past. A mother who left and a father who drank is all he’s ever known. Killian is a natural protector and defender since he took care of his brother Connor for all his life. When a fight goes wrong, he retires and opens a bar with his friend Louis. Standoffish and gruff he’s the kind guy who only has one-night stands until Eden walks into his bar looking for a job. She had zero experience, but he felt a pull toward her and just knew he met his match.
Eden Madley has been betrayed by the two people who shouldn’t hurt her. She flees small town life and lands in Brooklyn. A place as vibrant and full of art just like her soul. She’s an artist through and through but she has left her passion behind that is until she walks into a bar desperate for a job and locks eyes on Killian. He brings her passion back to life and little by little she scales his walls. She knows it won’t be easy and nothing ever worth having is but she stands by and carries all his burdens.
This book isn’t all swoon and conquering your inner demons there is a pivotal twist at the end that really shakes everyone’s lives up. It’s heartbreaking to read. I like that despite 22 years old Eden was wise beyond her years. Killian’s story was a heartbreaking one and you can feel the guilt he carried. I’m so glad I discovered this series and I can’t wait to jump into Connors story. If you like rough on the edges tattooed bad boys with a gooey center and a bubbly take no prisoners chick this is for you!!
I could go on and on about how much I loved this book. Not quite sure how I stumbled on to Emery but gosh what a discovery! This book was fantastic! Characters you fell in love with, an excellent story, all the feels… everything you could want in a book. I absolutely love Eden….not only is she tough but we there’s a life lesson to be learned from her…..communicate even when it’s tough and the other person tries to shut you down. Excellent book!!! Can not wait to read Conner’s story!!
A friend recommended this book a while ago and I can’t believe although it’s been sitting on my iPad I’ve only just read it. It’s a beautifully written journey of two people who’ve been hurt but learn to be courageous and take a chance on each other.
Eden is living the dream, attending college with her high school boyfriend. The golden couple everyone is envious of, although things aren’t always as perfect as they seem. Needing to spread her wings, Eden relocates, gets a new job and immerses herself in her art. He’s dark and broody but she’s seen glimpses of light shining through.
Killian has had a lifetime of heartache, takes on the role of protector and shuts off his emotions. He is plagued by his past and guilt from his decisions. So he turns his back on his career and invests in a bar. Killian worries for his younger brother who has gone radio silent. Before he can find closure, he is in need of forgiveness, but it’s unlikely. He’s enamoured by her beauty and sassy attitude.
This was my first book by Emery Rose and it most definitely won’t be my last. I absolutely fell in love with this book. The story line was entertaining, the writing kept me captivated, and the romance was off the charts. Killian is a top notch book boyfriend. The chemistry was palpable and could be felt off the pages.
Beneath Your Beautiful drew me in and made me fall in love. You need to read this book! It’s so good!
5 + stars

Wow! Honestly I can’t believe this is Emery’s debut novel. I liked everything about this book and writing. The writing just flowed and had me engrossed to the story from start to finish wanting to find out what happens next. I enjoyed every minute of it and never wanted it to end. I loved that it was written in dual POV so I know what Killian felt and his thoughts in some of the scenes. It was well developed, well written and thought out. It was sweet, steamy and a bit suspenseful romance. The characters are amazing and so likeable. It’s easy to fall for them because of Emery’s imagination and a great story telling talent. The characters were deep, loveable and endearing.
I love brooding, moody heroes with a damaged past and strong, sassy heroines who break down their walls. This made book even more outstanding and enjoyable for me.
Killian is a former UFC fighter who is haunted by his past and carries a lot of guilt. He also didn’t have an easy childhood. He is fiercely protective of the people he cares about. He is vulnerable but strong and loyal. He now runs a bar with his best friend, trying to keep to himself and not letting anybody get too close.
Eden’s world was shattered by betrayal of her friend and an ex-boyfriend. So she decided to start fresh in Brooklyn and to figure out what she wants to do and to find herself. She is strong, sassy, independent, smart, artsy.
While she was looking for a bartending job she met Killian. She was smitten and rendered speechless the moment she saw him. From the moment they met there was fiery connection and attraction. Their chemistry is off the charts. They are both flawed and complex, jaded from the past. Neither of them is looking for a relationship so they set for easy friendship, but neither of them can deny the strong connection they feel nor the fiery chemistry. I love that Eden can keep up with Killian and call him on his bullshit or when he is wrong. Killian admires her because of that. They are passionate and intense. Killian doesn’t let people in or get attached but Eden is slowly breaking down his walls and he is willing to try to be in a relationship with her because he knows she’s special. I love the dates they went to and their easy and sassy banter. I love how Killian is supporting her and listen to her intently whatever she is saying. Their love isn’t easy – it’s filled with so many obstacles but I love how honest and truthful they are. They both took a leap of faith and courage to start something. The epilogue was amazing and I want more of them.
Secondary characters have stolen my heart and I wish they have their story told: I loved Killian’s best friend Louise, Zeke, Killian’s brother Connor and Eden’s two brothers Garrett and Sawyer.
Also love how Eden’s family have accepted Killian and the way Killian bonded with her brother Sawyer because they are so similar.
One word: INCREDIBLE! Completely adored Beneath Your Beautiful! I can’t wait to see what Emery will come up with next. It was sweet, sexy and intense, gorgeously heartbreaking and heartwarming story, emotional and enthralling, with real characters and a lot of heart. I definitely will read her future books. Highly recommend it.
4.5 stars
I was drawn by this cover and after reading the blurb I decided to read it. It was one of those reading that catches you off guard and it’s such a pleasant experience.
I loved every moment of it, liked all the characters, with no unnecessary drama, and in the end, I wanted more and more. I’ll definitely start soon the second book.
If ever I wanted to be in someone’s corner it would be Killian Vincent. This solemn, dark handsome man hell bent on self-deprivation didn’t deserve the future he had subjected himself too. This was a beautifully written story that had me beaming when Eden Madley, a resilient pretty young artist, full of spirit and joy entered his domain.
This was first-rate and easy to read. There are some great characters in this book, people that you could totally relate too, they were incorporated into scenes that were good, bad and downright ugly with the visuals of what it must have been like in the past for some of them.
I really enjoyed this author’s first book; it had all those heartfelt emotions, wishing for their HEA, wondering if it was going to be for them. Hoping for Killian –
“If sunshine had a scent, it would smell like Eden.”
“I saw his raw emotions, his vulnerability and his need for me and something else I couldn’t identify. I wondered if he saw the same thing in my face. If I was stripped bare, more naked than I’d ever been with him.”
I believe there is a promise of a book coming on Killian’s younger brother Connor who plays a pivotal role in this novel. I’m really looking forward to hearing his full story.
4.5 stars!! I am in awe of Emery Rose!! Her debut novel was incredible!! From the very first page I was sucked in and I didn’t want it to end. Eden and Killlian—SWOON!! God, I loved them together and he was just imperfectly perfect. Don’t miss this one!!
Can one single clumsy moment change your destiny? breathe life into your lungs, fill your head with hope and dreams, and your heart be reignited, love and passion flowing through your veins.
If you are a believer then this book will become your everything. The world around you will disappear as you step deeper into the devastating and heartbreaking world of Killian and his brother Connor.
Two lost boys crying for love and attention, but not daring to live a childhood as we know it for fear and repercussions.
My heart broke for both of them, and the words swam across the screen, as again another piece of the their light was stolen away from them.
A heart broken a new path taken, just one chance needed for her light to be radiant and joy to not be far behind will anyone give her this?
Eden beautiful in name and in nature. A ray of sunshine hiding behind the clouds in the sky.
All the characters in this book fought for my heart as each one was broken yet alluring in different ways.
I cant believe this is Emerys debut. Completely blown away and I can honestly say I’ve fallen for her world of words, hook line and sinker! and I know you will too especially if you like angst ridden alpha bad boys.
This is my first read by Emery Rose and I enjoyed it and its characters very much.
The author’s writing is good, entertaining.
I FLOVED Killian, there were so many layers to him. He was sweet and rough around the edges.
Eden was a strong female lead without being overwhelming.
The story unfolded nicely, there were some slow moments where the pace just didn’t fit with the rest of the story but, not enough to detract from its entirety.
Emery Rose is a promising author, whose work I can’t wait to read more of. I’m definitely looking forward Connor and Ava’s story *hope they have one*.
This story had a little sexiness and a little danger. Both Eden and Killian helped each other get back to finding themselves after some personal heartbreak. My heart was already elevated with the steamy moments, and then it basically stopped when the danger kicked in. It had me on edge the whole time.
A great read.
I really enjoyed this storyline, the characters really draw you in and make you root for them along their crazy journeys.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. I am glad I did. I’ve read A LOT of books over the years. I’ve read a lot of debut authors. This was by far the most polished I’ve ever read. It didn’t read like a first time author, taking a step into the unknown. The characters were great, story was really good and kept me turning the page. I adored Eden and Killian. I love a damaged H and Emery provided this in spades. It was a lovely, sexy read about two broken people finding their happy together. I loved it.
There were also a ruck full of side characters that were really enjoyable. I’m hoping we see more of Jared and Ava and Connor.
All in all, a really solid first book.
Eden Madley is ready to start over after catching her boyfriend Luke cheating on her with her best friend. She has moved towns and finally landed a job as a bartender.
Killian Vincent is the sexy co-owner of the bar and a former MMA fighter. He got out of MMA fighting after the death of his close friend, Johnny Ramirez, and the guilt he feels over it.
As Eden and Killian feel a sexual tension between them, they each have things in their pasts that they need to overcome. Can they be strong enough together to get through everything that is coming their way?
This was such a great book with a great story that kept the reader involved from start to end.
I liked Eden and I was so mad at what happened to her with Luke and her “best friend”. I was so glad that she managed to get a job with no experience and that Killian took a chance with her as a bartender. She was feisty and had lots of personality.
Killian was a mystery that was slowly unwrapped as the book went along. I loved that he was willing to step out of his comfort zone and have a relationship with Eden and that it took a lot for him to do it with the guilt he had from his past. He was extremely protective over Eden and very sexy!
One of my favorite parts was the conversation between Killian and Sawyer, one of Eden’s brothers who was a soldier and they way he put certain deaths into perspective.
There was so much mystery around Connor, Killian’s brother, and their father, Seamus. I definitely was not expecting everything that was revealed and everything that occurred between all of them.
Towards the end I was definitely on edge wondering what was going to happen next!
The very end made e happy and I look forward to more in this series.
What a great debut novel for Emery Rose! I loved Killian and Eden’s story. This book will take you on an emotion roller-coaster, but you won’t be disappointed. There’s a lot of twist and turns. I couldn’t put this book down. I cant wait to see what this author has in store for us next! If you haven’t read this yet…you should.
An excellent read. My first one from this author. Will definitely be checking out more from her.
