Beneath This Man

What a great read, can’t wait for the next one! I read this back in February and I reread this series to be ready for This Man Confessed. Missed Jesse and can’t wait another day for release. I think this is the best series out there and I loved it. Jodi Ellen Malpas is the best and I am looking forward to reading more from her!

My heart was bursting at the seams and my panties combusted in this sizzling hot and explosively emotional installment in Jodi Ellen Malpas’s wildly addictive This Man series!

As Ava and Jesse’s torturously toxic, gloriously obsessive love affair reaches stratospheric heights in this book, I fell deeper in love with this crazy devoted duo. The roller coaster ride of emotions that this couple put me through gave me mega whiplash and their steamy sexcapades left me all aquiver! I relished their witty back and forth banter, their stormy battle of wills, their combustible sparks, and how this tempestuous duo constantly kept each other on their toes, in bed and out. But most of all I treasured how Ava and Jesse’s love for each other was unstoppable!

Their story takes a darker turn as we see painful glimpses into Jesse Ward’s broken, tormented soul but even when he is wallowing in the pits of despair, this deliciously domineering, swoon-worthy alpha completely owned me! Jesse is a fascinatingly enigmatic hero …a man of many nuances, a master of contradictions….a total conundrum at times. There are still many more layers to peel away before we truly unravel every part of this uber controlling, infuriatingly stubborn and endearingly damaged ex-playboy, and I couldn’t be more enraptured by the infinite storyline possibilities the author still has in store for our almighty Lord who loves and worships his lady with every single breath he takes!!

And I also adored Ava’s emotional transformation in this book . She morphs from a skittish, somewhat fickle young woman who constantly tried to run away from her overwhelming feelings for this frustratingly complicated, potently sexy, commanding billionaire in the first installment to a fiercely devoted, strong and fiery lover who stands by her complicated Lord of the manor through thick and thin!

But oh the angst!! There were moments in this brilliantly crafted story that completely shattered me into a trillion pieces and had me choking back sobs of anguish but the author miraculously managed to not only mend me back together again but had me grinning giddily through my tears! And that, my friends, is the hallmark of a masterful writer!

Bottom Line? BENEATH THIS MAN consumed every part of me. It made me laugh and cry, shriek and shudder… and touched me to the core!! I have so much love for these characters….and holy effin swoon the ending of this book was PURE PERFECTION. It left me in a starry eyed romantic stupor, basking in unabashed euphoria, and I can’t wait to see how this irresistible romantic saga concludes in book 3!

An EPIC Must read!

Oh my poor nerves.. This book had me on the edge the entire time.. This Man series just keeps getting better and better.. Jesse and Ava are absolutely wonderful characters and I love it.. I can invision each scene. I cheered Ava on when she put old pouty lips Sarah in her place!! I can’t wait to read what the next book brings..

3.5’s for this one too, just like with book 1, although, I’m sure nobody cares about the pitiful half a star. Book 2 continues the train wreck that is Jesse and Ava. It picks up where book 1 ended. Ava is needed to help Jesse come back to life in a certain sense, which she does, reluctantly, but she does. And as soon as Jesse wakes up from his self induced alcoholic coma, he goes back to his excessively domineering ways. It was actually tiring to keep up with it at times. There is so much drama happening again, OMG, especially on the last 20%. I felt like my brain was in overload. It ends with no cliffhanger this time, love is in the air, and Ava agrees to marry Jesse in spite of all kinds of disturbing details she’s found about him. So I’m sure the craziness will continue in book 3.

I loved this continuation of Jesse and Ava’s story. Their love is push and pull but I enjoyed that. You can’t have a romance without conflict! Amazing!

The Lord of the Sex Manor Mr Jesse Ward is the sex god that Ava must have and run away from in the same manner. Now that some of Jesse secrets start to come out Ava is in shock, that is until his closes friends ask her to please follow them to check on him cause they believe Ava is the only one to get pass Barney Fie the guard dog at Jesse penthouse. Ava, John & Steve finds Jesse in a worst state that she left him 6 days before.

Ava loves Jesse and knew it would be hard to stay away with his intensity, passion, overpowering & dominating ways. Jesse trampled anyone who got in his way of his Ava being all his or any threat he felt at the thought of Ava leaving him. However Ava is finding her sex god impossible to say no to especially when Jesse starts to manipulate her with tons of sex that she can’t get enough of. And to add all the woman that keeps throwing themselves at him and wanting to continue to keep having sex with Jesse while at the Manor.

There is more to this man, with his multiple side and Ava is determined to learned everything she needs to know about Jesse that is until she keeps running into the secrets Jesse keeps close to his chest that he is afraid will make Ava leave him once and for good. Now everyone sees Jesse’s achilles they all now want a piece of Ava to make Jesse pay for all his past sin that he never cared for or who he mowed over to get there. Ava O’shea is the only woman that send hurricane Jesse Ward spinning out of control.

This series is showing me the most intense man, he doesn’t do anything less intense than the other, he loves fiercely he protects even more fiercely.

Seriously loving this series, it’s definitely keeping me on my toes!

I really didn’t like anything about this book. In fact, I disliked it so much, that I have not read another book by this author beyond this series. I thought the main characters were despicable, if not criminal (the man), and hopelessly weak (the female). In addition, the book was so poorly written/proofed/edited as to be almost unreadable.

Even though I struggled with the 1st book, I read this one. I love the author’s writing style, I truly do. But I struggled through the second one as well. I did not grow to love the side of Jesse that was sweet and attentive and poetic, that boy had some lines, but his explosive temper overshadowed all of that for me. And here’s why, all of his justifications were about him coated with I’m trying to protect you speech. He claimed to love Ava, but he is messing with a job she loves, and that’s just one example. He completely disregards her feelings, such as sending flowers to her job when she asked him not to. He does what he wants for her, but it’s all about him and what he wants. Ava, isn’t much better. She’ll agree and then turn around and do what she wants because he’s being unreasonable….but then wonders why he doesn’t believe her when she says she’ll never leave…I mean really? Here’s the thing, I know that not all women are like me, have different boundaries and do not cross lines, because we are all different. I tried to remember that, but I swear there were a few times in this book where I yelled out loud “for fucks sake, enough!” Both Jesse and Ava and even Kate rubbed me wrong. I won’t be finishing this storyline.
