Russian sleeper agent, Hannah Miller has spent nine long years installed within America’s intelligence agencies. When the private plane carrying a secret weapon she and her boss are on is hijacked—her wait to be activated is finally over. Jack Davis, ex-boyfriend and former Navy SEAL, is sent in. His primary mission is to recover the secret weapon, but he refuses to leave Hannah behind—not when … behind—not when he still has feelings for her. When mounting evidence points to Hannah as a traitor, Jack must decide where to place his trust. Aiding her could risk his career, but betraying her risks his heart.
When Hannah is framed for murder, Jack convinces her to work with him in a scheme that will reveal the true culprit, unmasking a corruption that has reached some of the highest levels of US government.

Beneath the Surface (Gray Ghost Series Book 3) by Amy McKinley
5-stars
Beneath the Surface by Amy McKinley is book 3 in her Gray Ghost series, an intense and intriguing series that will keep you on your toes! I would highly recommend reading this series in order as each book has interconnected characters, so reading it in order will really enhance your reading experience.
Hannah and Jack’s story is my favorite of the series so far, it’s dark, twisted, intense, action-packed and highly entertaining! I was kept on my toes the whole way through as I tried to piece everything together and not once did I have it properly figured out, and it made this book much more enjoyable. Hannah was such an intriguing character with her tortured past and I really enjoyed being able to read her story.
I would absolutely recommend this book and series to anyone looking for their next romance read that has a side of danger and suspense!
Beneath the Surface is the third book in the Gray Ghost series. It can be read as a standalone. This book didn’t hook me quite as quickly as the first two did, but it was still a good read overall. I liked that Hannah’s strength and ability was not overshadowed by Jack. I found the switches between Hannah’s past and the present well done. It was easy to follow and added depth to her character. Although I had pretty much figured out the mystery by the middle of the book, it still played out in an entertaining way.
Beneath the Surface by Amy McKinley is the third book in the Gray Ghost series. This book is an action packed, suspenseful love story.
Hannah is a bad a$$ and shows it time and time again. She has dealt with some blows in life and kept the anger from the things that have happened inside where it keeps building.
Jack is an alpha to the bone, but has a huge heart. He does so much to help out the homeless people, especially the teens on the streets.
I had a feeling about some of the things that happened to Hannah and was quite proud of myself when I was right.
I wonder how long I have to wait for the next book in this series, hope it isn’t too long.
I have read a couple of books from this talented author and she keeps blowing me away. This is the third book of the Gray Ghost series. I absolutely love military romance but this author exceeds my expectations. This book can be read as a stand alone but there are prior characters in this story as well. I was so excited for this book. When it came out I dropped everything and started to read it. I was hooked on the very first page. It only took me a few hours to devour this book.
Hannah Miller didn’t have your normal childhood. She lost her parents at a very young age. Hannah and her older sister was put into a school that taught them how to become spies. Now Hannah is a trained sleeper agent. She is on a plane with a secret weapon and then all of a sudden her life changes. Hannah is captured in a hijacking. She is shocked when her ex comes to the rescue with his crew. Jack is just as handsome as ever. Hannah still has feelings for him but she has secrets that could bring a lot of trouble. Hannah has no other choice but to team up with Jack. They need to find this weapon before it gets into the wrong hands. Will Hannah and Jack find what they are looking for or will they find danger instead?
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, suspense, and mystery. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Hannah had a very hard life. She is all business but not with Jack. Jack loves his job. His team is his family and he will do anything for them. Jack still has feelings for Hannah but he doesn’t want to get hurt again. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This talented author will make keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will have for us next.

“We all have our own secrets to bear, our demons in the past”……
Beneath the Surface is the third book in the Gray Ghosts series by Amy McKinley. It is a fantastic, adrenaline fuelled, and action packed romantic suspense. It has a second-chances aspect to the story- with drama, violence, bloody battle scenes, secrets, lies, promises, twists, special forces, espionage, Guerrilla’s, intrigue, danger, gripping situations, and plenty of emotion. The characters are superb, and OMG!- Ms. McKinley certainly puts them through the wringer. I was on tenterhook’s, holding my breath, catapulted from one intense moment right into the next- all the while trying to figure out what would happen next. But, as expected, Ms. McKinley kept me guessing the whole way through.
The story is set against the backdrop of Washington DC, and the deadly environment of the Colombian jungle. The story swallowed me up (in a great way), as I became totally immersed in all the espionage, action, thrills and danger. There was nowhere to turn, the story has me firmly in its grip, and I loved it. I adored “Eye of the Storm” (Book #2) and it was easily my favourite of the series, until this book came along- and now I am having a hard time choosing which one I love more. I guess because this story is set in the same time frame, and the storyline runs parallel with Book #2 (Chris and Mari’s story) is why I love it so much. It has the same feel and intensity, but with its own powerful identity. This could be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the rest of the series to get all the backstories, character information, and other pertinent details. As well as the other books being fantastic stories in their own rights! You can’t go wrong with Ms. McKinley at the wheel!
Can’t wait to see what she does next!!!!
Thank you, Ms. McKinley!
Beneath the Surface (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 3) by Amy McKinley is another great book in this series that I have grown to love. Watching the boys turn into men has made me feel protective of them but they have done me proud. Amy has done a great job of writing these wonderful characters and her writing style is captivating and gripping. I love the way she weaves the intrigue and drama, mystery and suspense throughout the book to make it one book you are unable to put down.
Hannah is not what she seems, not even close. She is such a complex character that has been through more than anyone person should ever have to endure. The pain the heartache and the lies all come to a head that you don’t see coming. But the one thing she can count on fights for her and to stay in her life.
Jack finds himself preparing for a mission and when he hears who is involved nothing but nothing will keep him away. Along the way he finds everything he thought he knew was nothing like the reality he is forced to encounter.
I really look forward to reading more in this series. I love it.
This is the third book in the series and the third book I have read by McKinley. What a great continuation for this series! So many questions answered from book 2 but even more to make us wonder what will happen to this crew next!
McKinley has written another story about the guys and girls that make up the Gray Ghost group. This story is a great adventure of who to trust, who to believe and how to stay alive. Hannah is a tough woman. She knows what she is doing and how to get the job done. But McKinley helps us to believe that Hannah may not be the good guy. This story is well worth the read but you really should start with book one so that you know the other characters stories.

After reading and loving the first two books in this series I was really excited to see where the author would go with the third book. It was as I expected just as action packed, just as exciting and just as great to read as the first two. The mystery and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through and the storyline kept me gripped from beginning to end. I really liked Hannah and Jack and their story was one that had me intrigued. I loved trying to guess what was going to happen. I instantly felt a connection with Hannah, she was a great independent person who has dealt with some things in her past – but I feel that these things have helped her become the woman she is today. I was really rooting for her and Jack from the very start!
Beneath the Surface was a fantastic read with some great moments that I definitely didn’t expect! I 100% recommend it and the rest of the books in the series! I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future!
Beneath the Surface is the third installment in the Gray Ghost series by author Amy McKinley. This story centers on Russian sleeper agent Hannah Miller and Gray Ghost member Jack Davis. Hannah finds herself activated while on a secret mission with an American intelligence agency, her plane has been hijacked and the Gray Ghost team, with Hannah’s ex Jack, are on their way to rescue the crash survivors. Not everything is as it seems and Hannah along with Jack need to find out what is really going on.
I’ll start by saying that I read the first book but not the second in this excellent series and while I didn’t feel lost, I will be going back to read Chris’s story. Onward now…I LOVED this book! I LOVE this series! This series has everything from edge of your seat adventure to steamy romance. It will keep you guessing until the very last chapter and rooting for these two characters who have such sad baggage that you can’t help feeling for everything they go through. The author does a good job filling in the back stories on Hannah and Jack through use of flashbacks that do not hinder the flow of the story. Amy McKinley is quickly becoming a must-read author for me and I am looking forward to more stories in the Gray Ghost universe.

OMG I love these books and this author…It was also fun with this book running along side Eye of The Storm, I’ve not read many books that have done this and it was kind of fun…well fun in that they are at the same time but not so fun in the storyline. WOW…this one was awesome…I love all of them and can not pick a favorite but this one knocked my socks off…I was so looking forward to more about Hannah after reading Eye of The Storm and I absolutely got what I wanted in this book. I usually do not like flashbacks but the way this author handled them in this story first off made them mandatory and the way it was handled flowed perfectly.
I love how these books take the twists and turns to a new level and there is always a lot of them…I love this, and I Loved the way this storyline played out. Jack standing by refusing to leave Hannah behind even when all the evidence pointed straight at her as being guilty.
Not going into any more of the storyline, I just know that my heart broke many times as stories came out about Hannah’s past and I had so much respect for Jack in this story.
Im praying there is a lot more to come for the Gray Ghost team and I also know that I’ll be rereading this series many times 🙂
Loved It!!
Beneath the Surface (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 3) By Amy McKinley. This story had my complete attention from page one. I knew I’d be in for a long night when I started it. It’s filled with mystery and suspense that definitely had me on the edge of my seat trying to read faster so I could know what would happen. The only downside to this story for me was that it had to come to an end. Hannah and Jack are characters I won’t be forgetting anytime soon, they worked really well together and it was fun watching them throughout the story. You can read this as a standalone without any confusion but I have faith that you’ll want to read the rest also! The author does a wonderful job of of keeping readers guessing and completely drawn into the story. It’s well written and paced nicely with characters you can definitely connect with. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it. Can’t wait for more from this author.
Beneath the Surface is the third book in Amy McKinley’s Gray Ghost series. In the center of the series is a group of mainly ex-military people who take on dangerous assignments. Beneath the Surface takes place round the same time as the previous book, simply focusing on different characters. You can read the story as a standalone but it is much more enjoyable having had read the series in the order as you are already aware of some of the characters and events!
For me, Beneath the Surface is the story of trust … we have a Russian sleeper agent Hannah who works for CIA and hoping one day to avenge her sister and her parents, and then we have Jack, Hannah’s ex and a member of the Gray Ghost team. When Hannah’s past comes back to haunt her, she has to decide if she can trust Jack in the midst of the craziness where so much is at stake! I loved how the story moved between the past and the present and it added layers to the story! This story is full on action filled with danger and passion and deception and … survival and hope for love! I have to say that I have gotten more and more into Amy’s writing with each book and I cannot wait to see who and what comes next!
Beneath The Surface A Gray Ghost Novel—Book 3 Amy McKinley
“My grief didn’t know time. It never would. It lived inside me in a great, soul-sucking void. I sucked in lungfuls of air in an attempt to convince myself to go on. I would live. I would be the instrument of revenge…”
This book captivated me from the start. There is mystery, deceit, revenge, betrayal, promises, lies, uncertainty, action and heartache.
“He dropped his head into his hands, the thought of her dead or being tortured tearing him apart.”
This emotional rollercoaster ride will not leave you disappointed. I have loved this series and hope there is more to come.
“He’d been played. She was the enemy… Sometimes, poison came wrapped in pretty packages.”
Let me just start by saying please go back and start with book one, Broken Circle, before you start right on into this book. For one, these are great books and you are missing out if you haven’t had a chance to devour the complete storyline, and two you will be able to truly enjoy the characters and what they are all doing much better. It is said they can be read as standalones but personally for me I wouldn’t recommend it. In this one we get the story of Hannah and Jack. Hannah is on a simple enough task to get a special weapon to its destination. Everything simple about it is thrown out the window when the plane that is carrying her and the weapon is shot down. Now she is tasked to not only save the day but doing so while dealing with her annoying ex, Jack. Things get well, complicated… making for some great reading and a whirlwind of emotions while doing so. I personally was most disappointed when it ended. I can’t wait to find out what will come next in the Gray Ghost series.
Beneath the Surface is the third book in Amy McKinley’s Gray Ghost series, which centres around a group of predominantly ex-military people who take on brave and dangerous assignments. It takes place at roughly the same time as the previous book, Eye of the Storm, but focuses on different characters. It can be read as a stand alone book, but is particularly enjoyable when you’ve already encountered the characters and some of the events.
The main character, Hannah, is very interesting. A Russian sleeper agent, working for the CIA, and hoping one day to avenge her parents and sister, she has many conflicting motivations. Not to mention the inconvenient feelings she has for Jack, a member of the Gray Ghost team who she once dated.
The story flicks between the present and episodes from Hannah’s past. I found it a little confusing at times as the present is in third person and the past in first person, but it is made clear at the start of each chapter when the story is and is good to see it unfolding in both directions.
Jack is the main Gray Ghost character we encounter in this story, and like Hannah he experiences some conflict between his orders and his emotions. With rather a lot at stake, he has difficult decisions to make particularly when he realises he doesn’t know the whole truth.
This is an exciting action story with plenty of romance and a fair bit of mystery. It’s exciting, dramatic and intriguing. I found it hard to put down, so it’s five stars from me! I’d recommend reading from the start of the series if you’re interested in action romances, but start with this one if it’s the whole Russian sleeper agent thing that particularly interests you.
Beneath The Surface by Amy McKinley is book three in The Gray Ghost Novels. This is Hannah and Jack’s story. If you read the previous stories you will have no issues following the storyline honestly even if you haven’t it is an easy story to follow however pieces of information and other stuff is shared between previous stories and parts from them make more sense. It was pretty smart how Amy McKinley casually snuck in random thoughts and acts from previous stories and gave the explanation in Beneath The Surface. While I liked all the stories I think this one may have been my favorite. Hannah is a strong character and even though she starts out for all the wrong reasons she turns her life around and gets the chance with Jack she deserves.
Beneath The Surface (A Gray Ghost Novel) By Amy McKinley
4 Stars!!!!
This is the third book in this series and I wasn’t disappointed. I really find the author’s writing style to be captivating and gripping. I really enjoyed the way that the author weaves the romance into the intrigue and drama throughout the book. I was hooked from page one and couldn’t put the book down.
I found myself really drawn to Hannah’s character. The drama that plays out in her past and the way it helps to mold the person she becomes. I really found myself routing for her and was very happy to see that Jack came into her life. I really found myself eager to see what would happen next and really enjoyed the intrigue and spy stuff that plays out in this book. I really look forward to reading more from this author and hopefully this series.
Beneath The Surface, A Gray Ghost Novel, by Amy McKinley
5-star
Hannah and Jack are the main focus of this novel. The storyline is concurrent with Mari and Chris’ storyline featured in another Gray Ghost Novel but can still be read as a stand alone. I loved both Hannah and Jack in this story. Hannah was my favorite and I couldn’t believe the things she had to go through while at the Academy. I felt it played a strong role in the woman she became in the end though. I enjoyed the storyline and felt it was fast paced and easy to get lost in. Excellent novel and addition to the series.
Beneath the Surface is the third book the Gray Ghost series. It is by far my favorite!! Hannah, a Russian sleeper agent, has ingrained herself into American intelligence. When she is activated after 9 years to help obtain a secret weapon, she finds herself with an agenda on her own. Her ex-boyfriend, Jack, who is a former Navy SEAL, is sent in with his team to find Hannah’s boss and the secret weapon. He discovers that Hannah is really not who thought and struggles with what to do. Can he work with her and learn to trust her again? Will Hannah get her revenge and come out of this situation with a country to call home? This book had lots of action, surprises that you don’t see come and two big “oh sh*t” moments you won’t believe!!!!!! This story was such a great one!!!!!
Beneath the Surface by Amy McKinley is the 3rd book in the Gray Ghost series. This book is as exciting and fast paced as the previous books in the series. The plot keeps twisting and turning and really keeps you on the edge of your seat.
These two characters also have to be my favourite so far. You could feel the chemistry absolutely popping off the page. Even when you had no clue as to how the story would end you knew you wanted these two to work things out.
Any McKinley has created a brilliant and adventurous series that I would highly recommend.
