Romance. Suspense. Time travel. All these ingredients make for a unique and delightful read in Beneath the Lake. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I plan to read more of what she writes, especially the next book in this series!
Beneath the Lake is a very well written story that incorporated romance, mystery and time travel. As the story began to unfold, I thought I could see right where things were going, but then just enough of a twist would happen to keep me guessing. Well done!
I thought the narrator’s performance was also well done. I found this book very easy to listen to.
I was provided this review copy audiobook by the narrator, author, or publisher and have voluntarily left this review.
This is a really good time travel book. Lacey Madison Montgomery is a defense attorney frustrated with her profession and cheating boyfriend who falls back in time from 2012 to 1949. She is rescued by Bobby Reynolds, owner of a Coke factory in a town that will soon be deserted and at the bottom of a man made lake. Bobby calls Lacey Maddie and believes her story of time travel. They have lots of chemistry but how long will she stay in this time. Lots of mystery and planning for something by a group of mysterious people. The steam level is g rated so it’s safe for all ages.
This is not only my 1st book by this author, but my 1st time travel read as well.
The story starts out in 2012 with Lacey Montgomery attending a party her bestfriend Piper is hosting. While she is there she catches her so called boyfriend in a rather compromising position with someone else. after catching him she leaves the party and ends up having an accident. When she wakes she is battered and bruised from head to toe, and she meets the man who saved her life. His name is Bobby and he is a sweetheart and very gentlemanly. Bobby is very wholesome since he is a WWII veteran from 1949.
This story goes back and forth a lot as it should since it is time travel. However, if you are not really paying attention you may have to go back and re-read some passages. I may or may not have had to do this once or twice. LOL.
I did like how sweet this book is. Sometimes you need to read a book where you can use your imagination on what is going on with the characters. I did enjoy the story as it was outside of my normal read.
