I met Adam Nova under the twinkling lights of a nighttime sky.He was hiding, but that gorgeous boy didn’t belong in the dark.Nevertheless it was where he lived; a different world than mine.I was Livingston Montgomery, Southern debutante. With the world at my fingertips, I was well on my way to being another spoiled socialite. But I didn’t want money. I didn’t want social status. I wanted him; … status.
I wanted him; tattoos, sarcastic smirk, bad boy reputation and all.
It didn’t matter that he was from the wrong side of the tracks.
It didn’t matter that my family forbade me from seeing him.
I just wanted to be Beneath His Stars.

I actually Beta read this story. This is an amazing 5 star story that had me hooked from the first read to the last one.
This is not a standalone, but the first part of an amazing duet. The second book comes out shortly after the first one. So not a long wait.
This part deals mostly with the YA storyline. Adam and Liv meet when they are still in their teens. They have obstacles and people preventing them from being together.
This was a beautifully written story that flowed well. I was intrigued and captivated by this story. I always struggle with Duet because sometimes they’re released months apart. This one is not the case and the second part surpassed my expectations. That review will come next.
Told in a dual POV. It ends with a jaw dropping cliffhanger that had me saying, WTF just happened.
Favorite Quotes:
He was covered in tattoos. They didn’t just peek out of the sleeves of his shirt. No, this man wore his tattoos like clothes. They blanketed his arms and came out of the top of his shirt and onto his neck.
My finger brushed the paper and I felt a spark of something. Something that felt bigger than me… It was like coming alive. It was electric and it lit me up from the inside until I felt like all of the stars above my head were suddenly all living inside of me.
He was one big contradiction I couldn’t get enough of. His tattoos and attitude screamed bad boy, but his mind? It screamed nerd. I loved it.
I don’t just love you to that moon and back, baby. I love you to Pluto and back even if it would take me nineteen years to get there and back.
My Review:
I am devastated and would be fuming at the heinous cliffhanger if I didn’t already have the next installment locked and loaded on my beloved Kindle. I rarely peruse YA and I initially felt a bit tricked into reading a genre I generally avoid, but I soon didn’t mind that at all. The storylines were angsty yet intriguing and taut with flinch-inducing family drama and tensions that remained tautly held throughout. I had trouble putting my Kindle down. Amie Knight has mad skills.
I fell in love with Adam and Livingston’s story. Young love, from different social standings, blossoms only to be thwarted. Livingston breaks down Adams’ walls he had carefully kept up to avoid letting anyone in that could only hurt him. Adam, also known as Nova his last name, is Livingston’s star, her bright spot in her days dealing with her stepmother and stepbrother 3 years after she lost her dad. A must read!
The Stars Align With Romance as Amie Knight writes this smart, funny and sometimes a sad story of two people from different social classes. Livingston Montgomery is a young girl living on the “right” side of town not fitting in with the rich socialites. Adam Nova is the young man from the “wrong” side of town, with very few friends. Both find love of stars and each other. Now I’m desperate to find out what happens next.
This sweet coming age story was hard to put down. Two star crossed lovers, one from the wrong side of town and the other a Cinderella type rich girl. The love between Adam and Livingston will make you want to fall in love under the stars. I can’t wait to see how their story ends!
I love this cover. When I saw this cover all over my fb feed I wanted to read it. I’ve never read anything by this author before so I just dived right in because why the hell not. What a story. I really liked it. Adam and Liv got my attention all the way to the very cliffy end. I’m moving right to the next book because I need to find out how everything is going to play out.
Livingston “Liv” Montgomery lives with her step-mom and step-brother and is supposed to be a social debutante from the good side of town yet she longs for the memories of her father and has no desire to live in the world she lives in.
Adam Nova is from the wrong side of town yet there is more to the tattooed up “bad boy” than meets the eye. When he meets Liv he is drawn to her more than anyone else but knows he doesn’t stand a chance due to their different lives.
Yet Adam and Liv are drawn together and soon they realize how much they love each other. But will love be enough or will their lives be torn apart due to their different backgrounds?
This was another amazing book by this author and I can’t wait for the follow-up.
I loved the innocence of Liv and how she really hated that she was expected to be a certain way due to her step-mom. She totally felt uncomfortable around her step-brother and just truly wanted to go to her safe place that she had with her dad.
Adam was so awesome and I loved how as you learned more about him you understood the potential he had to be more than any of those rich people. I hated that his background kept him down and how he was judged because of it.
The relationship between Liv and Adam was beautiful in the way it started and how they became more than friends. It gave me goosebumps!
The end was completely heartbreaking and I was totally shocked at what the Sheriff revealed at the end to Adam!
I can’t wait for the second part!!
This is my first time reading Amie Knight, and I enjoyed everything about this duet. In the first book, Beneath His Stars, the hero and heroine are young adults with very different lifestyles who meet by chance and slowly and sweetly fall in love, but their heartfelt feelings aren’t enough to battle the outside forces that conspire to keep them apart. They are the ultimate star-crossed lovers and experience heartbreak that pushes them in different directions. They never stop loving each other and have a second chance when they’re reunited 10 years later in In Her Space, but they have to work through past hurts while also facing new challenges. I loved witnessing the evolution of their relationship from youth to adulthood. This emotional and sexy romance has unexpected twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. I’ll definitely be reading more from Amie Knight!

ARC provided, but this review was voluntarily and honestly written.
“My boy with the tattoos had given me the stars. It made me want to give him the universe.”
This is like a twist on Cinderella…father dies, leaving his only daughter his money when she turns twenty one. The step mother becomes a step monster and the step brother pays her way too much creepy attention! When her father remarried they moved to Saint Ashley Island where only wealthy and snobby people live. Madison was on the mainland where people lived in ghettos just trying to survive another day. Who’d of thought she would find her Prince Charming in the form of a tattooed bad boy waiting for her on the opposite side of the bridge that connects their worlds. They’ve both suffered heart break, she is the light to his dark until their worlds are turned upside down.
First and foremost this review will suck, there is absolutely no way to write a review about this story. I would never ever even begin to do justice to Adam and Livingston. They are so young but I believe have very old souls. They both have to deal with so much loss when they were so young that you feel like that they are so conscious of life and how precious every moment is. Livingston lives in a very elite wealthy neighborhood, she doesn’t really fit in, nor does she want to be there, Adam lives in a impoverished part of town. They are from two different worlds but come together for the stars. This book is a YA and is set when Liv is 16 and Adam is 19, in this read we see how they met and come together and the freaking Stars and astrology are both such a major part of their lives, it should be considered a whole other character. Liv still has to live with her step monster and worse her creepy step brother who tries and control every part of her life. When Livingston finally reveals her relationship with Adam ,her whole town is against it. I am so ready for part two, I freaking got chills reading this book is was so good and there is a huge secret about Adam’s past that gets revealed that will having you gasping for air. This author can unquestionably write a masterpiece.
Right now I don’t even know where to begin with this review.
Amie is a new author to me and WOW!!! This book had me fangirling every page. Beneath His Stars is one of my top books read in 2018.
Livingston- I absolutely loved her. Sweet girl from the right side of town
Adam- Lordy Lord Adam. Mmmmhmmm I can’t even put him into words. My fictional hot man.
I just lived this story in so many ways. Just loved it. The suspense at the end killed me. Be warned this is a massive cliffhanger. You’ll want to read the second book in the duet.
Talk about a book hangover
Adam and Liv are from two different sides of the bridge (tracks). I loved these two characters with all their life trauma and brokenness. They are an unlikely match for sure. The beginning chapters are bit melancholy but soon pick up. It is a moving and wonderful romance but be warned, the ending will leave your heart in your throat and screaming. This story is a cliffhanger but Book 2 is expected to be out soon so we won’t have to wait long for an HEA.
5 stars
Another 5 star love story from a lady that made it to my one-click list early on. Amie Knight is a master of character development; her characters always leave a lasting impact on me.
By all accounts, Livingston “Liv” had all anyone could ask for with her privileged life but she’d give it all up for just one more day with her dad. After his death, she’s left with an evil stepmother to whom only appearances matter, and a creepy (evil) step brother that keeps a (much too close) eye on her. She’s miserable so she finds solace in the place her dad loved. They shared a love of the stars and even though she has to make a trip across the bridge into the slums, she loves laying in that field of stars and talking with her dad. She’s never cared much about what’s beyond her field, until she meets Adam, the boy who lit up the night sky.
Adam Nova has only ever known loss and poverty but he does all he can to take care of himself and his father. He’s utterly brilliant, especially at astronomy but he could never leave his father behind. The urge to want more for himself died long ago, until he sees a girl in a field gazing at the stars as if they held all the answers. Her dress spread out like a big milky moon, she was a goddess of the sky to him. His fall for Liv was as inevitable as the sun shining on each new day. She gave him back the ability to dream. If only dreaming were enough…
I loved this book about tragic and epic young love. The emotion was raw and visceral and I loved watching these two broken souls find each other. The (cliffhanger) ending was heartbreaking and left me feeling emotional as I wait for the second part of this beautiful story of a boy from the wrong side of the tracks and the girl that made him whole, for a little while. Can’t wait for the conclusion of this brilliant duet!
AnnMarie – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
I honestly struggled with how I wanted to start this book review. I have so many words about this book and its literal amazingness, but I wanted the words I used to convey just how utterly incredible this book was. I wanted to make sure that the first words of this review let you know how much I loved every single moment of this story. I wanted my words to do these characters and their unforgettable story the justice they so deserved.
If I could only tell you one thing about this book it would be that it is hands down one of the BEST books I have EVER read in my reading life.
If I could tell you more things about this book it would be that these characters, their emotionally breathtaking journey together, and every beautiful, heart wrenching, and angst filled word of this book gave me life. It gave me everything and then some. It blew me away, consumed me so truly, and just turned my entire world upside down while I was within its pages.
Amie Knight exceptionally crafted an epic love story that I will NEVER forget for the rest of my days.
This story is one that spans years, decades, and so many moments that will take ahold of you with all that they have. Beneath His Stars is the first part of a completely mesmerizing and unforgettable story about young love, friendship, and the magic, pull, and power of the stars.
This book is a sweeping tale of what happens when the boy from the wrong side of the track meets the rich girl who he shouldn’t touch. But really, it’s so much more than that. Beneath His Stars is not just a typical story of boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, and they live happily ever after. This story is so much more than that. This is a story of an unexpected friendship that turns into so much more. This is a story about what happens when you meet the one person you didn’t even know you needed in your life. This is a story about meeting the person who changes it all for you, the person who alters your life course, your heart, and your very being. And as you read this story with Adam and Liv, you will experience those changes yourself.
You will not be the same person at the end of this book that you were at the start of reading it, and that is just part of what makes it so utterly spectacular.
Beneath His Stars is the first half of a love story that spans a lifetime. It is a story that will touch every part of your heart and every part of the night sky along the way.
This book gives you the first half of a story that will own you mind, body, and soul. What Adam and Liv give you in their love story will take your breath away, will have you feeling every single emotion you didn’t realize you even had, and will have you knowing that what you’re experiencing with them is truly unique. Beneath His Stars seamlessly weaves together heartfelt emotion, the most consuming angst, and a connection that you will feel through every single page.
The love story you get within the pages of this magnificent book will give you it all. And I mean that with everything that I have. This story will give you it all. It will give you friendship, romance, angst, a bit of suspense, heartbreak, longing, and all the glorious emotion that you will LOVE. It will give you all the feels, all the southern goodness, and a story that will make you laugh and smile and cry your eyes out in the same breath. Like I said, it will give you it all. And then some.
What Amie Knight so incredibly creates in this book is amazing in every way.
What I loved about Beneath His Stars, and really this entire duet, was that as much as it was about the big things, it was also about the little things. They had equal importance and relevance and impact through every page. In this story it was just as much about a field and a coke bottle, as it was about love and friendship. It was about all the glorious stars in the night sky, just as much as it was about the two distinctive people lying beneath it. It was about two people from two very different worlds, just as much as it was about a girl and boy trying to find their way.
The nuances, the magic between these characters, and both the little and big things are what made this book and this entire story what it is. That is what created what was so special about Adam and Liv and their story. That is what puts this story in a whole different stratosphere than any other book. That is what made this book one of the best books I have ever read and one of my top reads for this entire year.
Amie Knight gave me it all in Beneath His Stars. She really did, and I honestly could not have asked for more. And even though she left me with one helluva cliffhanger, she made it all PERFECT. She made every moment with Adam and Liv mean something. Nothing was too little or small, it all added to the picture. She made this story one of the most beautiful and enrapturing stories I have ever had the pleasure of reading. She created a world I NEVER wanted to leave. In fact as I sit here writing this review, all I can think about is how much I want to go back to that world.
I want more Adam and Liv. I want more of their magic. I want more stars in the night sky. I want more Nova and Luna. I want more of them and their hearts connecting and more of the pieces of this thoughtfully crafted world. I want more of it all, and that speaks so much to what Amie Knight so magnificently created in this world and in this book that I still desperately want more of all of that.
It has been many days since I have read Adam and Liv’s story, and I am still just as entranced by them and by it. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them, their love or their journey together, and I haven’t been able to stop feeling what those two gave me as their story unfolded. It was a bit of rollercoaster with more twists and turns than you can shake a stick at, but that is what made it theirs.
When you read this story it will take ahold of your heart and soul with the tightest grip, and it won’t let you go. It still hasn’t let me go, but I love that because it shows the authentic and very real connection this author allows you to have with these characters and everything they share together.
As I sit here writing this review I keep thinking that I want to tell you all the things about what you’ll get in this book with Adam and Liv…but in the same breath I don’t want to tell you much of anything of what you’ll actually get with them because I don’t want to take away from any of the literal amazingness you will get with them. To take away anything from the unforgettable reading experience those two will give you would be a travesty.
It would be so wrong because this book is everything. And more. So much more that I will NEVER forget.
Beneath His Stars is the first part to an epic love story that knows no bounds. It is bursting with feels and emotion and the most tangible level of angst that will hit you so damn hard where it counts. This story is one that you will never want to have end, and trust me when I say that when you reach the end you will be desperate for more Adam and Liv. Their story isn’t easy, and it might just break your heart a bit, but I promise you, it’s so beyond worth it.
Their love is worth it. Their hearts are worth it. Their journey together is worth it. Their heartbreak is worth it.
They are worth it. In every way possible.
Amie Knight has created one of the most exceptional stories I have read in this book, and I am telling you, from the moment you start this book you will love it. You will love it, enjoy it, feel it, and breathe it all, and in the end, you will be damn glad you read this book. Trust me. It will steal your breath, it will make you cry and laugh and feel every emotion under the sun, and that is honestly something you will relish in because this story is one for the record books.
This book is magic. It is the stars. It is the first part of Adam and Liv. It is angst heaven and epic in its nature. And it a book I promise you will love and never forget.
So please, I beg of you, read this book. Read it. Feel it. Live every word. And be prepared to be utterly amazed by its literal exceptionalness.
I promise you have never read or experienced a story quite like this one, and that is just one star in the night sky of what makes this a truly amazing book that will own you in every single way possible.
Part one in this brand new duet.
We meet Livingston aka Livvy, and Adam.. a modern day Juliet and Romeo… not in name but she’s rich and privileged.. on the outside and he’s poor and deemed a ‘hood’.
living in totally opposite worlds… but not that different set of circumstances…they both know pain and loss and heartache. They are destined and drawn to each other from the moment they meet.
So this was a different writing style from my beloved ‘Queen of Feels’ it had a super slow burn to it… and a new adult vibe, which echos and deals well with the fact that Livvy is 16 and Adam is 19… till BOOM!
Heat and chemistry and all those hawt and heavy feels erupted that Miss Knight is known for broke loose!
The plot is built slowly in this book until the very last moment when the mother of all cliff hangers is dropped! But it’s done so so well I can’t be mad… And the hidden back story comes to light!….Plus the suspense is built so well that I’m not mad over the cliff hanger
Wow.. so freaking emotive and gut wrenching and I’m so happy that book two is the duet is coming soon!! Because I’ve got to know what happens!!
4.5/5
Livingston was the rich girl, and Adam Nova was the boy from across the bridge. He was forbidden. They were supposedly not meant to be. Their worlds but different. But the moment when their worlds collided, it was different.
It was dangerous, but Livingston could not stop herself from crossing the line and meet the guy who knew and tells her about the stars. They weren’t from old money. Her father had earned it the hard way, not with her father gone, it was her stepmom who was holding the reigns until she was old enough. She hadn’t wanted anyone in her life, not wanted anything besides her freedom – until Adam Nova.
Adam is a smart guy. But he knew where he belong. He couldn’t run out of town because he had to take care of his dad. And now this girl, from the other side of the tracks (the good side of the tracks) came rushing into his life, taking his breath away.
But will fate ever let them?
I liked this book, I like the stars reference and the us-against-the-world kind of thing. Although, of course, there’s the fact that she was just 16, and he was 19. A bit off, but besides that – everything else was nice. Their meeting, the notes, the danger lurking and them getting together in secret. Nevertheless, no secret is going to remain forever What happens when they’re found out.
I was on the edge of my seat, wishing that I had the next book. Because I wanted them together. I wanted things differently. I wanted a nicer ending. I wanted a happy one. Not with my heart broken and devastated. Nevertheless, the ending of the first book will make you anticipate for the next one.
That got your attention huh? I have loved reading this author for awhile I was first introduced to her books by a very good friend of mine. I started reading her Heart series books and really enjoyed them. I love books that are feel good type books but that have strong characters along with a cohesive storyline that makes me as a reader unable to put them down. I love how her books leave you with questions like what couple will be in the next book in her standalone books. Because as I’m reading them I can see supporting characters having their own books later down the road. Well in this book it does need to be read starting with this book through the next book because it does end on a typical authors cliffhanger. But good thing it’s only a duet so you won’t have to wait long for the answers to the questions you will undoubtedly have because this author whammied us with not one, or two but several shocking twists. That’s why I call her evil but in actuality I loved how she played this book as a reader it has me guessing and going out of my mind to know how Nova and Liv turn out. I highly recommend this duet and definitely her Heart series books. I know in the future I will definitely be following this author as she writes and releases her books in the future.
Coast of Madison, South Carolina. A beautiful island divided into two parts by social status. On one side the rich, futile, manipulative people who only care about appearances. On the other, people in extreme poverty, living in crumbling buildings, with dangerous streets and no future prospects. A bridge and a field dividing these two extremes. And one rule: neither side crosses the other.
Livingston and Adam are two young people who are going to live a romance style modern Romeo and Juliet. Liv is extremely rich. But the young and beautiful girl can be classified as the poor rich girl. Orphan, is trapped in a house with an indifferent and insane stepmother, a creepy and inconvenient half brother, and the island and its inhabitants suffocate her. She is clearly not happy or loved. Her dog Harry is her only company. And the field where she lay with her blue blanket to observe the stars is her safe harbor.
Adam does not have a life typical of boys his age. So young and full of responsibilities, he knows his future does not look very interesting. After his mother’s death, his father was all he had left, and after he was injured, Adam took over the responsibilities of the house, working to survive. His dream of studying astronomy seems increasingly distant. Living on the “wrong side of the island” causes his chances to be reduced.
The girl who loves to look at the stars will meet the boy who is fascinated by studying them. Liv and Adam are destined to be together. They are the missing piece of happiness in an apathetic world. But human wickedness will separate this couple.
Beneath his stars enters the select club of my best readings of the year. I could not stop reading, I wanted to know what would happen. The book awakened several emotions, I cried and I laughed with Liv and Adam. I hated the rich part of the island and its inhabitants with such intensity. No one escapes, everyone is bad, prejudiced and evil. My heart squeezed for the two young lovers. The end is so shocking that a bomb is thrown at the reader. I was incredulous. I can not wait for the next and last book.
PS: I would like to know what will happen to Harry after the events at the end of the book. Yes, the dog is an extremely important and captivating character.
This is the first I have read by Amie Knight and just Wow. I loved how in tune Adam was to his little star, Livvy. The chemistry between them is like Romeo and Juliet mixed with a bit of a Cinderella story to it yet so much more. What really got me was that Adam is not your typical hoodlum but a man full of secrets and mystery. This is the first part and cannot wait to see what has happened to Adam and Livvy’s star filled love story. This is a great story by Amie Knight, not only you see her great flair of storytelling but fall for her characters.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
This is my first book by Amie Knight and I’m really glad that I took a chance on a new to me author.
Beneath His Stars is a star crossed romance that gives you hope and melts your heart. Two people who stereotypically look like they shouldn’t be together fight for the love of their lives.
Livingston Montgomery (great name by the way) comes from money but she’s far from the stereotype that people think she is. She currently lives with her stepmother and is forced to do all the things a Southern Belle should. She takes etiquette classes and interacts with others as expected but she really wants nothing other than to remember her father and follow her dreams.
The one place that reminds her of her father brings her the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Adam Nova is covered in tattoos and smokes. He’s received as the bad boy but once these two really get to know each other, it’s clear just how perfect they are for each other. Astronomy binds them together in a way that no one else will get. However, fate steps in and these two are forced to fight harder than they could ever image for each other.
I will admit that in the beginning, I thought the writing was a bit choppy for my taste. However, that quickly changed and I thought it flowed well. I’ve always loved a story that has one thing that connects the characters together but this one has a few of them, which helps spark that connection even more.
Overall, I enjoyed Beneath His Stars and am anxiously waiting for it’s conclusion. I’m invested and ready to know what will happen with Adam and Liv.
