I met Adam Nova under the twinkling lights of a nighttime sky.He was hiding, but that gorgeous boy didn’t belong in the dark.Nevertheless it was where he lived; a different world than mine.I was Livingston Montgomery, Southern debutante. With the world at my fingertips, I was well on my way to being another spoiled socialite. But I didn’t want money. I didn’t want social status. I wanted him; … status.
I wanted him; tattoos, sarcastic smirk, bad boy reputation and all.
It didn’t matter that he was from the wrong side of the tracks.
It didn’t matter that my family forbade me from seeing him.
I just wanted to be Beneath His Stars.

FAVORITE READ OF 2018!
I give this beautiful story ALL the flipping stars!! Amie Knight has seriously blown me away with this first book in the duet.
These star-crossed lovers have captured my heart, and I’m in a book funk now that the first part of their story has ended.
Adam Nova, the tatted bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Livingston Montgomery, the rich debutante on the right side. These two should NOT work together, but they do, they so do. They are absolutely brilliant together! They gave me all the feels.
Adam definitely made me swoon so many times, but he was so hard on himself. He felt like he didn’t deserve Liv’s love. But that girl was not going down without a fight. She refused to give up on the boy she loved. I admired her so damn much for that.
While I was reading this story, I’ll admit I was pretty smug. I thought I knew exactly where it was going. Nope, I didn’t. I was totally thrown. And I couldn’t be more happy with that. Amie threw me for a loop. I will admit that I kind of dislike her a little bit because it’s sooooooo good and now I have to wait for the conclusion.
So if you can’t tell by now, I absolutely fell in mad love with this story, these characters, and their stars. Sometimes I feel like I keep repeating myself, but this is definitely, without a doubt the BEST work from this author to date. And I have a feeling book two will exceed my expectations as well.
A Young Adult Romance about Adam Nova and Livingston Montgomary, two people from who from the outside couldn’t be more different. One working class, one from a wealthy family, one from a run down apartment building in the wrong part of town and the other lives in a mansion in a neighbourhood for the rich.
From the first moment they met Adam is transfixed by the girl who comes to the wrong part of town to sit and watch the stars just like he loves to do. He begins leaving her messages in bottles for her to find in her spot, messages that tell her what to look for in the sky – serious swoon! Their connection grows and develops from here and the chemistry is just magnetic.
This story completely drew me in and I loved how Adam and Livvy appear to be opposites at first; but they couldn’t be more kismet! The people from Livvy’s judgemental world however have other ideas and a twist at the end of the story leaves it all hanging on a cliff edge.
Amie wrote a beautiful story of young love despite their differences. The novel is descriptive, well paced and developed, with hints at a deeper back story leading to the cliffhanger ending. I really fell for Adam and Livvy and cannot wait to see how book 2 is going to play out.
The book reminded me of the fairytale Cinderella with the evil stepmom , and evil stepbrother. You are able to figure out why her stepmother married her father , but I am not sure what the stepbrother’s evilness stems from. Adam and Liv have a complete opposites attract relationship , they both couldn’t be more different from there personalities to there physical characteristics. I look forward to reading the conclusion as the author leaves you with quite the tangled web of lies and deceit at the end of the book .
BENEATH HIS STARS is Book 1 in THE STARS DUET. Amie Knight’s writing does not disappoint in this first book. Her writing shines like the stars in this tale of two-star-crossed-lovers.
Adam Nova and Livingston Montgomery were never meant to cross paths. Saint Ashley was an island that sat right off the coast of Madison, South Carolina. Everyone who lived on the island were really rich. It was like Madison had two classes the really rich and the really poor. Liv lived on the rich part, but never really felt she belonged on this island. Her father had taken her over the bridge, laid down a soft blue blanket, showed her the stars, and told her he would be leaving sometime soon, this earth and her, too. Also
told her to look at the stars if she ever felt alone. Stuck in a world she felt she didn’t belong, with a indifferent step-mother and creepy step-brother.
A stranger in her own skin, with a bucket of dreams, but still looking at the stars and making wishes.
They met under strange circumstances under the stars. Adam and Liv were pulled together by some unknown, magical force. She liked to think her Daddy had sent someone to get her through this lonely life. Someone to give her hope. She would always remember their magical time, beginning to the end, beneath the stars. She would dream about him and their time there looking at the stars, until the next time she would see him beneath his stars.
Liv and Adam’s story continues in Book 2: IN HER SPACE. Coming soon! I will be impatiently waiting for the rest of their story!! 5 shiny stars for the first part of this book.
Oh My Stars!!! Talk about being totally enchanted and captivated by a book couple and their story. This book is amazing and New Adult is not always my jam but Liv and Adam captured my attention and my heart! I am rooting for them so hard!!! Classic boy meets girl from opposite sides of the tracks, but after that nothing is the same and there is so much more at play here.
Amie Knight is just so darn good with words; she had me from the very first line of the Prologue, “Only in the darkness can you see the stars.”
So many emotions filled my soul reading their story; happiness, joy, worry, sadness, anger and fear. I was elated one moment and the next my pulse was racing and my heart was breaking and I couldn’t believe what was happening. Then it ended because well this is a cliffy, but OMG you don’t want to miss it!!
I loved this story like crazy and can’t wait for it to continue in “In Her Space” !!
***5 ‘You Can’t Dream With Your Eyes Open’ Stars***
The blurb was the hook, well, the blurbs for both books since we were lucky enough to get them both at the same time.
There was just something about it that reeled me in and had me wanting to find out who these two people were and what their journey would be, so I decided to take a bite out of it and let me tell you, I’m happy I did. Beneath His Stars was a pleasant surprise. While there is a melancholy undertone to it, along with a good dose of unease, it was such a sweet and swoon worthy story that I devoured it in no time flat and has me #practicingpatience (kindasorta) as I wait to for the conclusion to Adam and Liv’s story.
I ended up adoring Liv and Adam. Liv is so much more than what people see on the outside. She’s a dreamer with a sweet soul and a bruised heart, but with a spine of steel that at times puts her in situations she probably shouldn’t be in. Adam is also, so much more than people see. He’s honorable, caring and loyal, but also stubbornly practical even when his heart tells him otherwise.
Their journey, thus far, was all kinds of sweet. It didn’t necessarily start out that way, but it proves that sometimes all it takes is a moment and your world shifts. I loved them together and watching as they found that they had more in common than they could have ever imagined. And then that ending/cliffy came. It wasn’t a surprise, something I have no issue with, but the how it all went down was. I wasn’t expecting THAT, though I probably should have considering everything, but it definitely left an impression and I NEED to know how everything works out for Adam and Liv because they definitely deserve an epic HEA.
This is my first read by the author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The writing was engaging, I loved how everything unfolded and I enjoyed the dual first person POV’s. What I really liked was how she straddled that line between YA and NA. There were moments where both Adam and Liv were so much older than their years and yet they still had those moments of youthful exuberance, hope and blindness that showed that they still had so much more growing to do. Of the supporting cast of characters, I adore Raven and Jose ~ everyone else?? Well, you’ll see. But for now, we wait…patiently…kind of.

This book was amazing.I loved every heartbreaking moment of it.
Adam and Luna (the girl’s name is actually Livingston but I’m refusing to call her anything but Luna) are the two most sad, beautiful and unique souls.I can’t explain how touched I am with their story.
This story is not you’r typical “good girl meets bad boy” romance. It’s sooo much more.
This story is so deep and emotional. Both Adam and Luna are unhappy for their own reasons.
Adam because he is poor and because he needs to abandon his dreams and be what his father needs. His life is really sad and he’s just trying to find his way while hiding his emotions behind his tattoos. And Luna because she needs to live with her “stepmonster” as she calls her stepmother and her creepy stepbrother. They are both suffocating her,and making her life as miserable as possible. But even thou she lost everyone she loved Luna kept dreaming. She didn’t lost hope and I think that’s the thing that drew Adam to her.She is everything that he’s not.
These two fell in love really quickly and it’s that kind of love that happens only once and you can’t do anything about it.
Before I knew it I was pulled deep in their story.
And it was one hell of a journey.
I’m extremely glad that I read this book and I can’t wait for the second part.
And I have to say that I’m completely in love with the cover.
I am a big fan of Amie’s books, so I was very excited to get my hands on Beneath His Stars! Thanks to the author I was able to get an ARC to read and review.
In Beneath His Stars we meet Livingston (Liv), a 16 year old who lives on the island with her stepmother and stepbrother. Liv doesn’t feel like she fits in. It wasn’t until a few years ago that her father was discovered as an artist and that got him a lot of money. Unfortunately he passed away and she’s stuck with her stepmother.
Adam Nova, is a 19 year old who lives on the mainland and just happens to run into Liv when a friend of his wants to hit on her. He doesn’t know why but he feels protective. After losing his mother at a young age and his father suffering an injury making it impossible for him to work, he works and goes to school when he can.
Beneath His Stars feels different than Amie’s other books, because the characters are a bit younger. I loved this story though, even though I could smack the characters at times, haha. If only teenagers could think things through at times. Their connection was clear from the start. If only her stepmother would’ve thought that way. Even though Adam and Liv’s worlds didn’t seem the same, they worked.
It’s also clear there is a lot going on in the town they live in. As if things are done that shouldn’t be happening. I definitely don’t trust a few characters! That ending left me devestated!! I need the second part of this duology now!!
The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars from me was that I would’ve loved just a bit more depth with some of the characters. I know it’s a duology, so there’s still more to come, but I think even more hints at what was going to happen at the end would’ve given more of a buildup.
Once again Amie did create another set of characters I’ve grown to love! This author has a way with words that really makes you feel things! I think it’s amazing when an author can get you feel things for her characters by their way of writing! I can’t wait to see what turn this story will take!
5 STAR Review by Ruby Red Romance Review
This book…there are only a few books that make me ugly cry and this book was one of them. I can’t put into words how much I loved this book. I don’t want to give anything about this book. I will say that Liv and Adam were everything I wanted and so much more.
Liv…my heart broke for her. Watching her lose everything that she loved was the hardest thing ever. I can’t put into word what my heart felt for her. Adam…might have been the best thing to ever happen for Liv. I can’t tell you how much these two needed each other. Love like this is something we only experience once in a lifetime. Liv and Adam have it. I can’t wait to see what happens with these two in the end. They have something so special and I want them to have it all.
Please check out this amazing book! I can’t want to see what’s coming!
A few sayings come to mind at the start of Beneath His Stars – don’t judge a book by its cover, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, opposites attract. Adam Nova and Livingston Montgomery come from different sides of the track, but they have so much in common. Amie Knight has brought us two characters to love and root for.
Adam Nova is not your ordinary bad boy. He’s got a heart of gold and a bright mind. He’s sweet and caring just trying to get by and go unnoticed.
Livingston Montgomery is not the snobby rich girl like those around her. She’s caring and compassionate and wants more than just what her money and status can buy her.
Their young love is exhilarating and slow building. I liked learning who they are as they discover each other. They definitely have obstacles to get around and forces unseen to be together. With suspense and evil lurking, book 2 will fortunately not be a long wait.
Oh my gooooood! Amie Knight has broken me with this book. A beautifully written story of true love and heartbreak between two people from vastly different lives. This is definitely unlike anything she has written before! I have to say it’s Beneath His Stars May be one the best book’s she’s written even if I am left dying for the next book. Liv and Adam both will steal your heart the moment you meet them.
They’re each separately incredible characters and both completely different from what you’d expect. While Liv may be young she certainly has an old soul quality about her. Despite her innocence she’s suffered hard losses and is trapped in a gilded cage by her stepmother. Adam is the polar opposite of Liv’s clean cut, upper class, southern world. Living on the wrong side of the tracks his bad boy image shields a sensitive and beautiful heart that left me swooning more than once.
These two have a true fairytale kind of love. Complete with Wicked stepmothers and the kind of romance we all dream about! I had my heart stolen while reading this and I cannot wait to see what is to come for these two in the next book!
This is the first book by this author that I have read and I was not disappointed. This is a young adult, star-crossed lovers book duet. I just finished it, and now…I wait. I have to get my hands on In Her Space because I HAVE to know what happens. Yes…this book leaves you with a cliffhanger. Luckily, the release of the 2nd book is only 2 weeks after this one.
This is sort of a modern-day Cinderella story, except the prince is from the wrong side of the tracks. Livingston Montgomery is from a well to do family in a well to do town, except her family consists of her step-monster and creepy and dark step-brother. She escapes almost every night to an abandoned field to look at and talk to the stars. It is there she has a chance encounter with the quiet bad boy, Adam Nova.
I absolutely loved the way this story slowly evolved between Adam & Liv. The author did a fabulous job of building both characters before they came together, and when they did, I just knew how they both were going to react because it felt like I already knew them. Adam – the brilliant yet shy bad boy with a tragic past, and Liv – the dreamer and beautiful broken princess. My heart broke for both of them, and then it squealed in delight as these two navigated their relationship through the barriers of their society.
I loved their love of the stars – and the fact that Adam’s last name is Nova, and he calls Liv “Luna” – the stars and the moon. Gah – this is why we swoon over young love! I am completely smitten with Adam and his bad boy image and his nerdy brain; and you just can’t help falling for Liv – she is all alone in a society that has basically isolated her. There are some villains in this story, and I really can’t wait to see how fate plays out for all of them in the next book. Please hurry A. Knight because I don’t think I can wait too long for the next one!! Well done – I’m officially a fan!
Livingston Montgomery may appear to have the perfect life, but in reality she seeks solitude away from her terrible stepmother and menacing stepbrother. After the death of both of her parents, the only place that Liv ever found peace was in an empty field near her home where she could gaze at the stars.
One night while enjoying the night sky, twist of fate brought Adam Nova into her life. The tattooed bad boy from the mainland protects his heart from everyone around him. His life has not been easy and he isn’t willing to suffer any more loss in his life, until he meets Liv.
Together Liv and Adam bring a light to each other’s life and they are able to find peace in one another’s arms. Unfortunately, the darkness in their lives is determined to keep them apart. Will Liv and Adam be able to live happily ever after? Or will they both be plunged into loneliness once again?
(I received an ARC from Amie Knight in exchange for my honest review.)
Liv and Adam’s story is one of a kind. They have both suffered so much in their young lives and are able to find happiness in each other. Their passion for the stars and moon brings them together and provides a place for them to truly be themselves where they can forget about their differences and just simply be at peace. Amie Knight has created an original romantic story for those that believe in true love, and I cannot wait to read the second novel in this duet.
4.5 Sparkling Stars!
This was much more than the good girl falls in love with bad boy story. Things aren’t always as they seem and sometimes the good boys aren’t really good at all. I loved the connection Liv and Adam had with the stars, it just intensified the romance. This book flowed so well with characters that were easy to like and some that were easy to hate, making my emotions flare.
I am not going to say that this ending didn’t kill me, I am not a patient woman so I’m glad I won’t have to wait long to for the conclusion of The Stars Duet. There is so much I wish to happen, so much I need to know…
This book kept me up all night! It was amazing and gave me all the feels. The ending just completely gutted me. I need to know what happens next.
In case you haven’t caught on yet, when books are in a duet, it means there’s a great big cliffy at the end of Book One. But authors are getting smart. They’re realizing it infuriates readers to a) not warn about the story being left in suspended animation, and b) make the reader wait months for the conclusion. Fortunately, we only have to wait a few weeks for the rest of Adam and Liv’s story. I generally despise cliffhangers and when not warned ahead of time, refuse to read anything else from the author who treated me that way. I don’t mind the duets though. I read so many books that my recall between duet books is lacking, but when a story is as spectacular as this one is, Luv and Adam will still be fresh in my mind and securely ensconced in my heart, because their story is truly phenomenal.
Liv’s home is on the affluent side of the causeway, right on the beach, but before he died, she and her father would walk back across the bridge and spend hours lying on a blanket looking at the stars. On their last trip to their star-gazing field, her dad told Liv to look to the stars, and both he and her mother would be looking back. Liv still goes to that field, sneaking out of the house late at night. Yes, to feel closer to her parents, but mostly to escape her “stepmonster” and creepy step-brother.
Adam Nova first meets sixteen-year-old Liv when he and his two buddies come across her while she’s in the field on her blue blanket. Alone. After dark. On the wrong side of the bridge and the seedy side of town. When one of his buddies gets to aggressive with Liv, Adam stops it with only a word. But he’s concerned for her safety, and Adam finds himself watching over Liv each night as she star gazes, which eventually leads to them meeting. And in spite of their worlds being oceans apart, they fall in love.
This first book is a sweet, poignant, tender, coming-of-age story between star-crossed lovers who have everything against them except for their young, but very real and deeply abiding love. And I absolutely loved these two characters! Liv went from rags to riches and then from being loved and cherished to being used as a prop and piece of property. At first glance, Adam is a tattooed bad boy, but anyone who takes the time to look will see an intelligent, caring, kind-hearted guy who’s experienced far more than anyone should by age nineteen. His mother died when he was nine and his father had an accident that disabled him, so Adam cares for his dad while working and going to college. And truthfully, Adam is a far better caliber person than anyone else in Liv’s life. This first part of their story, where they meet, get to know each other and fall in love, is devastatingly exquisite. Liv brings light to Adam’s bleak existence and he brings love to hers.
The Luna moon and the Nova star have found each other. They belong together, shining in harmony in an otherwise dark world. They are destined to be together, and I have no doubt the second half of their story will be magnificent! Liv and Adam are two characters who will own your heart and touch your soul, and their light will shine on in your deepest recesses long after they’re gone. Amie Knight is definitely an author to watch, because her writing is heartfelt and exceptional, so 1-click this book immediately and start reading this beautiful, evocative, touching story today!
Amie Knight is a new author to me and I am thoroughly impressed! Beneath His Stars (book one in the Stars Duet) is beautifully written and I’m still in awe of it. Adam and Livingston are the definition of star crossed lovers, their story is heart felt and all-consuming. Reading books about young love are my absolute favorite especially when it’s as deep and passionate as this one. Beneath The Stars was everything I wanted and more.
The ending is absolutely gut wrenching and took my breath away. I am on pin and needles waiting for In Her Space.
I am absolutely blown away! My heart is still beating fast after reading this amazing, beautiful story. Two people from different worlds Liv the rich princess but her life isn’t a princess at all her life is like Cinderella’s. Adam Nova he stole my heart by his first written words. Adam has had a hard life tattoos are his escape to stay hidden from himself and others but Liv sees the real him. There are no words to say how much I loved this story. It’s breathtaking it’s heartbreaking but it’s also true love.
I can’t wait to read the next book I’ll be sitting here drying my eyes and just having hope. 5/5 “Until next time I see you beneath the stars” in my top 2018 reads
Beneath His Stars by Amie Knight is book one in her Stars Duet. I already read An Imperfect Heart and See Through Heart by this author and I was giddy to get my hands on this book. And what can I say, I was so not disappointed ! The writing is great and the story had me captivated from the beginning.
Beneath His Stars is Liv and Adam’s story.
Livingston Montgomery leads a complicated life. She grew up with a loving father in wealth, but now she’s living in a loveless household and is waiting to be of age, so she can leave.
And then there’s Adam. Adam Nova is a young man from the wrong side of the tracks. He’s a good guy with a bad boy reputation.
Beneath His Stars is a bit like star crossed lovers, southern debutante meets tattooed, sarcastic outcast. The story jumps between past and present and gave me all the feels. It made me smile, made me sad and at some point angry at the characters.
Liv and Adam’s story continues in In Her Space, book two in this duet.
