Soon to be a major television event from Pascal Pictures, starring Tom Holland.
Based on the true story of a forgotten hero, the USA Today and #1 Amazon Charts bestseller Beneath a Scarlet Sky is the triumphant, epic tale of one young man’s incredible courage and resilience during one of history’s darkest hours. Pino Lella wants nothing to do with the war or the Nazis. He’s a normal Italian … the Nazis. He’s a normal Italian teenager—obsessed with music, food, and girls—but his days of innocence are numbered. When his family home in Milan is destroyed by Allied bombs, Pino joins an underground railroad helping Jews escape over the Alps, and falls for Anna, a beautiful widow six years his senior.
In an attempt to protect him, Pino’s parents force him to enlist as a German soldier—a move they think will keep him out of combat. But after Pino is injured, he is recruited at the tender age of eighteen to become the personal driver for Adolf Hitler’s left hand in Italy, General Hans Leyers, one of the Third Reich’s most mysterious and powerful commanders.
Now, with the opportunity to spy for the Allies inside the German High Command, Pino endures the horrors of the war and the Nazi occupation by fighting in secret, his courage bolstered by his love for Anna and for the life he dreams they will one day share.
Fans of All the Light We Cannot See, The Nightingale, and Unbroken will enjoy this riveting saga of history, suspense, and love.

I really enjoyed learning about Italys involvement in saving people during the haulocaust. It kept me interested from page one.
This was a most haunting book leaving the reader with a sad response to Pino’s fate and the life he led. One can’t help but wonder if the one true love of his life
denied him the ability to love again. His amazing acts of heroism as a very young man during WWII were beyond belief. I rather think his story is just one of many that took place during that tragic time in history. Thank God for author Mark Sullivan who put pen to paper to tell us one of those stories.
This true story was very well written.
My favorite book. I am stunned by this story, which is for the most part, true.
Brought insight into the events that people endured during wartime. Sad yet a wonderful story, true life as only those who lived thru it understand.
Loved every word written on these pages. Let us learn from history so we don’t repeat it.
Wonderful WWII Story of Courage
Provided a first-hand human perspective on the effects of living in the midst of the 2nd World War… much different and more comprehensible than anything taught in school.
An unbelievable true story of one man’s courage and faith.
What an education!! I learned so much from this true story of an Italian teenager growing up during the Nazi occupation of Italy during WWII. I never learned that there was a Nazi occupation in Italy! This story will both shock and inspire you, at least it did me. I am of Italian decent and was very much struck by the bravery of these amazing people. I would highly recommend this book!
this is one of the best books I have ever read. I could not stop reading it.
Tremendous WWII book about Italian resistance efforts.
Fascinating historical novel placed in Italy. Faithfulness of family and friends. 17 year old recruited to serve as a spy vs Germany, 1942-45 his success, losses, and love.
Great story about childhood friends, one Catholic, one Jewish, who came of age during the Nazi takeover of Italy. He helped Jews escape, and their friendship grew into love. Love, suspense, cruelty, and constant danger abound. Really enjoyable read!
Great Book that I will read again.
One of the best books I have read this year. The fact that it is based on a true story makes it even better. Stranger than fiction!
