Soon to be a major television event from Pascal Pictures, starring Tom Holland.
Based on the true story of a forgotten hero, the USA Today and #1 Amazon Charts bestseller Beneath a Scarlet Sky is the triumphant, epic tale of one young man’s incredible courage and resilience during one of history’s darkest hours. Pino Lella wants nothing to do with the war or the Nazis. He’s a normal Italian … the Nazis. He’s a normal Italian teenager—obsessed with music, food, and girls—but his days of innocence are numbered. When his family home in Milan is destroyed by Allied bombs, Pino joins an underground railroad helping Jews escape over the Alps, and falls for Anna, a beautiful widow six years his senior.
In an attempt to protect him, Pino’s parents force him to enlist as a German soldier—a move they think will keep him out of combat. But after Pino is injured, he is recruited at the tender age of eighteen to become the personal driver for Adolf Hitler’s left hand in Italy, General Hans Leyers, one of the Third Reich’s most mysterious and powerful commanders.
Now, with the opportunity to spy for the Allies inside the German High Command, Pino endures the horrors of the war and the Nazi occupation by fighting in secret, his courage bolstered by his love for Anna and for the life he dreams they will one day share.
Fans of All the Light We Cannot See, The Nightingale, and Unbroken will enjoy this riveting saga of history, suspense, and love.

Excellent book. I’ve recommended it to several people.
Loved this book!
Amazing story. An eye opener regarding the Nazis in Italy and the bravery of their citizens
CI read a lot and Beneath the Scarlet Sky is one of the ten best books I have ever read. I identified with some of the characters . There were so many wonderful people that did so much for each other in very trying circumstances. The world owes a great debt to them. Please someone write more books like this.
Excellent read. Highly recommend
This book offers it all, history, war, family relations, romance, heroism, Be sure to google images of Milan 1945 to get an idea of the magnitude of the destruction of Italy during the war and look at the beautiful cathedral the Allies did not bomb. I hope it becomes a movie soon.
Really enjoyed this story. An amazing life.
True story , and a real page turner. Couldn’t put it down.
This book was one of the best books I have ever read. The story was captivating I couldn’t put it down. But the story and the heart of the book was extremely inspirational. I appreciated the author sharing his darkest hour at the beginning of the book and the wrapup at the end with what happened after the war.
One of the best books I’ve read in a long long time!
It was a rather good read and I enjoyed the intersection between fiction and real events. I’m not sure I – as the reader – relate very well with the characters but it was an insightful look at the attitudes of citizens vs. soldiers during WWII in Italy.
Loved meeting this real life character. I am so glad he is remembered. He deserves to have a special place in WW2 history.
