This series just gets better and better!
Two worlds collide in this fourth installment of The Alien Skill Series, and in so doing it becomes a huge eye-opener. An amazing adventure for sure as Ben journeys into the sea and discovers the truth about what is truly going on between humans and the animal world, as well as how important it is now more than ever to make a change for the better. Even Mesmo is learning the severity of the situation on earth in regards to the Wise One’s.
Full of action, emotions, and relationships not to be missed.
Unfortunately, I am taking a star away due to the use of an owl as something terrifying and greedy. I just couldn’t feel it. In fact, it threw me off every time it came up. I saw a review before I posted mine that this creature should have been a crow or raven or something, and I agree. Other than that, though, AMAZING SERIES!
Great read for all ages!
This series has massively drawn me in with its adventure and hope for a better future. There is a real message here that many books don’t have. GOOD JOB!
I am also loving everyone: Ben, Mesmo, Kimi… Every character in this series adds something to the grand journey to save the world and the humans and the animals. I sure miss Tyke, though. I know the dog has been gone awhile, but still.
Keep it coming!
Mesmo has been teaching Ben how to scuba dive in French Polynesia, although the Toreq technique is quite different from that of humans. Ben frees a small manta ray tangled in fishing line, then meets two octopi who are leery of his wish to communicate with the citizens of the sea. He’s understandably discouraged.
However, Laura Archer is worried about her son’s endless focus on what he considers his mission, so she sends him to “camp” in the Pacific town of Tofino, where his mom has set up a rendezvous with Kimi and her family. As he helps out and becomes part of the group, a pod of fifteen orcas beach themselves on the shore of the town. Residents try everything they know to get the whales back into the water, but when they’re ready to give up, Ben asks for one more night. When town leaders agree, he’s unsure what he’ll do, but, he receives special help in the middle of the night, and by morning, the whales are back in the water.
The head of the orca pod, Kana’kwa, tells Ben they were pursuing salmon when the fish suddenly vanished and, as the senior orca phrases it, ‘We were afraid, and we fled, but the land caught us.’ The villain is a Russian fishing ship, where Ben and Kimi come face-to-face with the grim reality of commercial fishing and capturing whales for ocean parks. However, Jeremy Michaels, the pesky Provincial Times reporter who’s pursued Ben since the Cosmic Fall, comes to their unexpected aid and reveals himself as their ally.
Meanwhile, Mesmo meets with the Wise Ones, who are split on how to handle humanity. Einar, the belligerent Norwegian, is especially furious.
Back in the ocean floating in the fishing ship’s dinghy, Ben is finally able to make his peace presentation to the ocean’s denizens. Will the sea’s residents accept his offer?
A “MUST READ” BEAUTIFUL YOUTH ADVENTURE SERIES !
In the spaceship, the young Ben Archer, 13 years old, observes the magnificence waters of French Polynesia.
MESMO, the Alien leading the vessel, approches the MOTU ONÉ coral reef.
The purpose of the trip being, among other things, to dive in and come Into contact with marine animals.
From the first scuba dive, Ben Archer wants to manage all alone without the help and magic powers of MESMO.
Ben Archer doesn’t know it yet but he will regret it because he’s in great danger…

An action-packed story of a boy given the power to mentally speak to animals, an alien and the mission to bring the humans and animals together to heal the earth. A well balanced story with a good plot and wonderful characters.
An Unexpected Great Adventure!
Ben and Mesmo return in the midst of their journey to save planet earth, the animals, and the humans. There is loads of stress and expectations on their shoulders. And then Ben is sent off to “camp” to relax… or so his mother thinks. Before anyone is the wiser, Ben is back in the middle of this world changing journey that risks the life of not just himself but also his best friend. Back home, though, things are not much different. Mesmo is dealing with the Wise One’s, one of whom causes many issues that may affect the outcome of all the plans set into motion. Plus, there is a fresh out of college reporter on their tails about the Cosmic Fall that took place one year prior.
This book is filled with much more intense emotions and conflicts and secrets that help carry the plot that was set forth in book one deeper and in depth. There is also some humor here and there. Definitely a great story for all ages, and a series that will be around for a long time to come.
I only had one issue.
When I beta read this book, it was a raven in the orca story and as the name of the Russian factory ship. I thought this worked well as ravens and crows are almost universally portrayed as magical, tricky, ominous creatures that people get nervous around. Some even see them as symbolic of death. Then I get the ARC book and see it is now an owl, a creature that most view with wisdom, intuition, the ability to see beyond deceit, and change. However, as this story is connecting orca story with Russian factory ship, I have to think about Russian culture. Owl meaning changes depending on Russian tradition and species, making this animal complex and confusing. But then again, this book is directed toward middle-grade, and children don’t think about cultural connotations but Hollywood connotations. So the owl just doesn’t fit with the little story or with the Russian factory ship, which I thought was a big deal. I had no choice but to take a star away.
