Something dark is lurking on a German Christmas Market… is an optional Christmas story in the complete contemporary fantasy Seven Wardens series. It is best read between book 5 (Above The Waves) and book 6 (Under the Ice). It includes unusual Celtic and European mythology, plenty of adventure, and a romantic reverse harem subplot.

The Sevens Wardens have to take out Knecht Ruprecht before he takes down Christmas.
In this short story by Skye MacKinnon and Laura Greenwood, Macey and her men have to go to Germany to save children from Knecht Ruprecht. Below the Baubles: A very Random Christmas story (Peryton Press, B081DBTFK4, 2019) is the eight story in the “Seven Wardens” series and it is a quick interlude for this holiday season.
MacKinnon and Greenwood give us a quick glimpse of Macey and the guys and a hint of what trouble is to come if you are paying attention (I was hehehehe). We also got some nookie and some action. I do not want to say much more since this is a short story.
If you have some time just standing in line waiting for your turn at the cashier, or waiting for dinner to cook, take the time to read this – it’s the perfect holiday escape.
I received an ARC of this book from Author Laura Greenwood via Booksprout and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
If you haven’t read the Seven Wardens series, this is supposed to be read between book 5 and 6. If you happen to read this first, it could be a great introduction into this reverse harem world. It’s really but gives you an idea as to what’s been in store for Macey and her men.

Macey and her men. Oh yeah! Macey and her men have to travel to Germany to save a town from Knecht Ruprecht, who punishes children who have been naughty on St. Nicholas Day. But Knecht Ruprecht has gone too far. He has killed several people. Macey and her men are on the case. And get a bit of loving in too. I find I’m kicking off this Christmas Season with a white hot read. Yep this will melt the ice for sure.
Macey is a Kelpie Princess in a relationship with five men. They are part of the Seven Wardens, their purpose is to protect the world from dangers and threats humans are better off not knowing about.
When a garden gnome shows up at her door, she is quite surprised but he quickly explains he is a Kabouter from Belgium who has been undercover as a garden gnome in Germany. He needs their help containing Knecht Ruprecht, Saint Nicolas’ loyal servant who has started to run amok. Leaving several dead in his path.
Now once they arrive at the destination they have time before they start searching for their quarry. So they spend that in their hotel room, enjoying some afternoon delight.
This is a quick, enjoyable read and I warn you it is extremely hot before they even get to their objective.
I haven’t read the rest of this series but I think I have to go back to the beginning and check it out. I need to know how this relationship began.
This is a great short story to read. We follow Macey and her men to defeat some evil. They have to travel to another town to stop Knecht Ruprecht. He is a powerful being so how do they stop him from killing innocents. You will need to read this short story to find out. There are some smexy times with Macey and her men that gets hot and steamy. You do not want to miss out on that. Overall this is a awesome short read.
I didn’t read the first books in the series but I didn’t feel lost either. The story was written so well that I didn’t miss understand anything. I love the characters and their personalities. It was a short story so if new the characters don’t get to learn their personalities very well but I did enjoy them. It has drama and mystery with hot romance. It is well written and is definitely worth reading.
I love all the stories that Ms. MacKinnon writes. Macey and her men are no exception. This was a short, but steamy story. You technically don’t have to read the first five books to read this story, but why wouldn’t you?
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
This story takes me back to my own childhood and christmas traditions. It was wonderful to read something other than the american culture being represented through the stories. Thank you for widening the stories and giving people a chance of learning (or re-connecting) with a different christmas tradition.
This is a great short story in the seven wardens world. All the usual suspects are there and there are some very sexy scenes inbetween the manic and mayhem!
A bit fun read.
