The world bleeds as noble vampire families war amongst themselves. The Valentine and Bordeaux clans have fought for centuries over the right to rule. Until an opportunity to merge the two sides is born.Sabine Bordeaux is destined to marry the Valentine heir, something she’s known since birth. Their union will end the bloodshed once and for all. She knows her duty . . . . . . and wants nothing to … and wants nothing to do with it.
She never expected three men, shrouded in mystery, to answer her prayers. Whisked away to an island she’s only heard about in fairy tales, at the mercy of the very Gods she prayed to for a reprieve, secrets come to light that leave Sabine lost and confused.
She wanted to escape her duty . . .
She just never knew how much she’d bleed for it.

I actually really liked this story. Some reviews are casting the FMC in a bad light but honestly, I think Sabine is great. She just wants the freedom to live her own life the way she sees fit to without everyone treating her like a pawn. Everyone deserves happiness and Sabine isn’t afraid to fight for hers. Shes a strong woman with strong men standing beside her. The love of a man is something to be cherished; the love of three men strengthens Sabine to a point that she will find what she’s looking for one way or another. Poppy did amazing with building this world and its characters.
“Love without options isn’t love, it’s a cage.”
“How could you say you loved someone if you owned them?”
It was such a long time that I’ve read a dark vampire story and it was with this author that I re-discover this world again. Beloved is a paranormal, stand alone dark romance and gave me the Gothic vibe; completely different from her other contemporary paranormal series.
I will admit that Sabine is a difficult character to connect to. She is rebellious, selfish and spoiled to begin with. I understand where she is coming from though. She is a princess that was promised to marry a man that she doesn’t love, just to end a feuding war. All her life she felt like the pawn she is, even when she was at the island with the Gods. I guess that at the end, she really had to face her past first in order for her to fully realize her feelings for the guys. At this point, I really thought this was part of a series. There were some questions about the gods, even her race that I felt that there would be a possible spin off for this world.
Bloody Purrrfect
Blood, blood and blood! Its a Vampire story. Very raw and emotional and the characters are genuinely honest! So much emotion and uniqueness you find yourself connecting with them and loving them and also cursing when they make mistakes. Im talking to you Toutates . Read it! you will not regret it! OH MY WORD, this book is incredible. This book had me torn in so many ways! Sabine, I do not know what to say. She is a vampire from a noble family and is being wedded off to stop the warring with her family and the Valentines. So on the day she dreaded, something happens and oh boy does it get crazy. Meet the Gods Taranis, Esos and Toutates who have been watching Sabine for a long time. These gods show up and save her well to them that is what they are doing. To everyone else is a different story. These guys are keeping a secret from Sabine. She did not want to go through with her marriage to Marquis but yet she does not want to stay where she is at. She is going through so many emotions. However she meets Lillith and learns more information about the guys! She still wants to make her on choices but feels that they are always taken away. So what happens when she finally finds out what is really going on? What will she decide? There may be heartbreak in store for one or all? There is a lot of emotions, turmoil and tragedy that befall many but there is also love that wins. Overall this book is gripping and will keep you entranced til the end. This book is outstanding.
I’m speechless. I don’t even know where to begin. I loved this story so much!!! I could never predict what happened at any point. The words drew me in and kept bold of me until the last page.
Sabine, I love and understand her. At times I wanted to kick her a bit, but that’s just my hormones talking. I love the guys, even thoug they should have handled everything differently from the beginning. LOL
Oh and a warning, you’ll need new underwear because the naughty times are scorching hot!!!
Hurry up and grab this unique Vampire story. You won’t be disappointed.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Wow, this book. Talk about some hotter than hot Gods: Esos, Taranis and Toutates. Man, I could close my eyes and just picture them.
Okay, back to the review. I loved Sabine’s character. Ms. Woods did a good job showing the internal struggles that she was experiencing. Everything from questioning who/what she was to her parents decisions and more. She grew throughout the story.
There was action, love (yes, some steamy scenes), and betrayal.
This book left me wanting more!
Poppy is literally the QUEEN of PNR! Sabine and her men had me fanning myself more times than I care to count. This PNR can be read as a stand-alone, but hopefully there will be more in the series.
Sabine is a Noble, this series version of a vampire, and belongs to the Bordeaux bloodline. She is forced into an arranged marriage with the heir to the Valentine bloodline in order to bring peace to their shared kingdom. There’s one problem though: on her wedding day she is kidnapped and taken to a mystical island. The book follows her growth into the badass she knows she can be, and ends with her kicking butt and taking names.
I highly recommend this book! Poppy weaves this world in such a way that you can imagine yourself fighting for freedom right along with Sabine. The three Gods are well written and the scenes between the four main characters are so amazing!
Of course I loved this story, it is written by one of my favourite authors, and again she delivers something different and unexpected. This time the author broke my heart and tore my soul out. This book was so emotional.
It is so beautifully written and I feel like the author has poured her heart and soul into this story, this story feels personal, and the worst part is that I could relate. The story is about personal choices, or lack there of. It is about love and betrayal by those you love most. It is about choosing lesser of evils and fighting to have any choice in the first place.
Some of the events in this book are so painful, and the author has done a fantastic job conveying all of these emotions. There were moments when I wished she was less skilled of a writer. The world the author created is harsh. Some live better than others but they all have one thing in common, lack of choice.
Sabine, the main character, is the only one willing to go against the imposed norms, duties and commitments and fight for the choice to make her own decisions. She is not your usual strong character, she is just a regular person without any particular skills, but what she has in incredible amount is her need to be free, and will to fight for it. And no matter how difficult the things get, she keeps on fighting. Sabine is a truly remarkable character and I love her dearly.
This author never seizes to amaze me, from her first book, every single book was something new and a surprise. Her writing is amazing, as is her skill to create a great story. This one is no exception. And the ending is the true testament of her skill and the ability to prove a point. I loved it so much. I loved the story and I love this author more and more with each book.
I love Poppy’s books. They’re so well written, well edited and always smoking hot. This too, was a well-written engrossing story about a vampire Elite girl who is simultaneously spoiled and a pawn that has no say over her life. It was hard to like her at times because she so fit into the “elite” social mind-set of the terribly rich, but I also found myself feeling angry for her mistreatment by her supposed loving family. Ultimately, her indomitable spirit and determination to make her own decisions won me over. This book was a roller coaster of emotion with a very satisfying ending.
Whoa so many good things to say about this book but I don’t even know where to begin I was hooked from page one and i didn’t put it down until the last page. This book is unlike any other I’ve read in a while, if you’re looking for a different vampire story I definitely recommend this one!
fabulous!
Sabine is a total brat.. but gah I love her, and this book totally left me in a book hangover. Loved it!
This book was absolutely incredible!! It kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat from the first page. I loved Sabine’s character, she was so well written!! The storyline is gripping, the characters were well developed and likable, and the story is filled with drama, action, and love. A wonderful story and one I highly recommend.
No spoilers of any kind included.
Beloved was pretty amazing, but then again every book that I’ve read of Poppy Woods has been amazing.
So it’s going to be a big YES I most definitely do recommend this book to anyone looking for a fantastic story to climb into.
There are so many things to say about this book. But omg what a ride comes to mind. Take the journey with Sabine in this well written, fast paced story. The cast of characters are amazing. This is a beautiful sorry, and one of the best vampire books I have ever read. Poppy Woods has really out done herself with this one. Something I will re read a lot.
