In author Sarah Price’s fresh and inspirational retelling of a beloved classic, a dutiful young Amish woman agrees to marry a notorious recluse for her family’s sake—but the consequences are more than either bargained for . . .To most townsfolk, he’s known simply as The Beast. Annabelle Beiler has little interest in gossip, but she’s heard about Adam Herschberger’s scars and his gruff, … and his gruff, solitary ways. Though he sounds like a character from one of Belle’s treasured books, the man is real and, it turns out, just as unreasonable as the rumors claim. When a buggy accident wipes out the last of her daed’s money, forcing him to sell their farm, Adam buys it. Then he offers Belle a deal—marry him, and her family can keep their home.
Everyone is shocked by Belle’s decision, but she’s determined to be a good fraa, cleaning Adam’s rundown house and tending the overgrown garden. Breaking through her new husband’s icy reserve will be another matter. Belle’s courage and strength are abundant, but it will take true faith to guide Adam back to the heart of his Amish community—and to the loving marriage they both deserve.

Sarah Prices’s Belle is a heart-warming story of overcoming obstacles to find peace and a place to belong. The story will captivate readers who love the Amish culture and enjoy spending time in the Plain community. Once you open the book, you won’t put it down until you’ve reached the last page.
Lovely to see this Amish take on the beauty and the beast, encouraging steadfastness, perseverance, forgiveness and love. I also really enjoyed how it delved into community relationships, not sugarcoating it but trying to give ways to find ways through, giving hope for something better to develop.
I sat and read this book all in one day. Sometimes I just need to escape for the day and this retelling of a fairytale was a perfect way to spend my day. You’ll enjoy this retelling of Beauty and the Beast.
I love how Sarah Price is able to turn a fairy tale into an Amish rendition. I’ve always enjoyed reading books that center around a marriage of convenience. It’s always fun to see where the author goes with the storyline. When I read Belle, I read it all in one day. Such an amazing Amish romance, that I could not stop reading it. The biggest lesson that is taught in this book is that we should never look upon one another with prejudice. Always look at a persons heart, as that will be what leads one to see who they really are. I highly recommend this book, as it’s a lovely romance as well as a lesson learner, as I call it.
Paperback: 5+ STARS!
Audiobook: 5+ Stars
This book contained so many of my romance favorites, such as marriage-of-convenience, enemies-to-love, a re-telling, a brooding and broken hero, and a strong faith thread. Although Beauty and the Beast is probably my least favorite fairytale, I do love modern adaptations of it. Sarah Price removes the “magic” that runs rampant within Disney’s version and writes an authentic romance between an unfairly judged broken man and an altruistic woman who seeks to follow the Lord’s will. Even if she must marry a stranger to save her family’s farm.
From the moment this book started, I was drawn in. Adam and Belle’s story was frustrating, heart-breaking, hopeful, and finally achingly romantic. Belle’s steadfast commitment to her faith was convicting and inspiring. Adam and Belle’s happily ever after was well-earned and beautiful. This is a story I will keep on my shelf for future re-reads. I’m looking forward to the next re-telling within this series.
Along with reading, I also listened intermittently to the audio version. The audio was fabulously done by a single narrator. Definitely a narrator I would look for again in audiobooks.
I very much enjoyed the writing, and the characters. It was an interesting take on the “Beauty and the Beast” tale.
So much more than a ‘fairy tale’….lovely Amish details I never knew…with a meaningful ending!
Thoroughly enjoyed this version of the story. Combining a fairy tale and and Amish story is no small feat but Sarah Price does it so well. The story was easy to read and makes it hard not to fall in love with the characters and the love that blossoms. Also love the intertwining of the different fairy tale characters together. Can’t wait to read the others in this series.
This is a must for anyone who loves fairy-tale re-tellings and Amish Novels.
