Dating online should come with a warning. This is my last deployment before I get out and become a civilian contractor in Texas. I’m already there in my mind. That’s why I changed the hometown on my online dating profile. Fresh start in a new city. I liked how it sounded. When cute kindergarten teacher, Ivy, slides into my inbox, we hit it off right away. We flirt like two people who have nothing … people who have nothing to lose. I show her all the sides of me and she seems to like them. I like her too. And I can’t wait to return stateside so we can explore this connection in real life.
But.
It’s like stepping off the edge of the world when I find out my Ivy is also my best friend’s little sister. When I try to break it off, I just can’t do it. So I don’t.
And now I have a decision to make. Step things up with a woman who could be ‘the one’ and risk alienating myself from my fellow Marines, or, end it and know that while it’s the right thing to do, I’d be saying goodbye to a future that looked a lot brighter with her in it…
Believing in You is a sweet romance told from alternating POVs, set in the world of The San Diego Marines. Each book can be read as a standalone but are fun to read in order.

Have you ever read a book that was SO good that you wanted all your friends to read it? I’m not talking about the… “Oh my gosh! You have to add this book to your TBR list!” I’m talking about the… “Drop whatever you’re reading and read this book! I do not care if you have 20 review books that need to be read! You need to listen to me and pick it up… RIGHT NOW!” That’s where I’m at right now.
This is, hands down, my absolute favorite book in this series. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved it! I may or may not have had to turn my kindle off when my lunch hour was over so I didn’t sneak in reading instead of actually working. Oh the problems of a Book Dragon.
Y’all… I quickly fell in love with all things Jake and Ivy. I couldn’t get enough of these two! Watching their attraction turn into friendship and then into love melted my heart. They were absolutely perfect for each other. And that sizzling chemistry that was jumping off the pages?! YOWZERS! Butterflies were doing all kinds of dive bombs in my tummy! Their first kiss and that epilogue turned me into a big ol’ pile of goo… and loved every minute of it! Best. Book. Ever!
One of the things I love about series like this one is being able to see old friends and catching up with their lives, as well as see new relationships develop. I am going to be so sad when this series is over. I have one more book to read before I’m all caught up and I can’t decide if I want to read it now or if I want to wait. Whatever I decide, I’m definitely going to be suffering from a major book hangover. The struggle is real y’all!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I am so glad that I discovered Ms. Matorakos. Her books have been just what I needed right now. I have loved every single one of them and I will definitely be reading them over and over again. I’m excited to see what she has in store for us next!
Jake & Ivy’s story is my favorite one yet! Their happenstance connection is so cute and I loved how their story played out. I’m really enjoying this entire series.
I absolutely loved this story! You get to catch up with the characters of the previous books in the series, and follow along with the bromance that Mills, Hawk, Brooks, and Murphy have as they are all on their final deployment together. Through an online dating site, Murphy meets Ivy and though it is an online long distance relationship, they instantly have amazing chemistry. You finally learn of Jake’s back story and his sense of longing for a family and wanting to belong will really clutch at your heart strings. I loved following the two of them through their new relationship and found myself rooting for them every step of the way as they of course hit bumps along the road. The epilogue absolutely blew me away and I had tears rolling down my face as I was reading it. This is such a sweet, feel good story and I can’t wait to read more from this author.
This is really interesting story – showing the challenges of deployment as well as the close relationships between the various members of the teams! Again we see strong characters, realistic situations and excellent dialogues. I recommend this book highly
I really like that Jake and Ivy become friends slowly and each falls in love with the other before they meet. Of course, “that’s crazy” so they don’t confess their feeling to the other.
BEAUTIFUL love story!!! Jake had a horrible childhood and joined the Marines as soon as he was old enough. They were the only family he had. He was on deployment and his best friends talked him into joining a dating site. His best friend Travis told him he needed to put Fort Worth so Jake could meet girls from Fort Worth instead of San Diego cause he was leaving the Marines and had a job in Fort Worth already and especially cause that was where Travis was from. Travis said Fort Worth girls were the best. Ivy’s friends put a profile on a dating site for Ivy without telling her. Finally they told her and talked her into looking at it to see if she had any “hits”. What were the odds of Jake ending up talking to Ivy and her and Jake hitting it off so well. Travis had told Jake a lot about his sister and how she got involved with his best friend and then left Fort Worth without a word to either Ivy or his best friend Travis so when Jake starting talking to this great girl named Ivy and his two other Marine Corps buddies seen a picture of Ivy and realized that was Travis’s sister. What were the odds. But Jake did not dare tell Travis he had contacted his sister and they were starting to like each other. A great standalone with an HEA!! Great book….. no language or sex! How refreshing!!!!
I loved everything about this book! I loved how beautifully written and believable this book was. I love Jake & Ivy’s love story! I also loved the friendships between the 4 Marines and Ivy and her group of friends! Such a sweet story from beginning to end!
I read these books out of order, but they were still amazing. Believing in You is the 4th book in Jess Mastorakos San Diego Marines series. I read Believing in You after reading books 5, Memories of You, 6, Home with You, and 7, Adored by You. I now wished that I had read the books in order, but I still really enjoyed Believing in You! Believing in You is about Jake and Ivy. You meet Jake in the second book, Away from You, but you don’t really get to meet Ivy until now. Ivy is the younger sister of Travis Brooks.
Ivy and Jake never meant to fall in love but when they meet on a dating app they can’t help but be attracted to each other. Ivy had dated one of her brother’s friends before and never again. However, they ended up really connecting, and before they knew it they had fallen head over heels.
This was a great book! I loved reading about Ivy and Jake’s relationship as it grew. They were super sweet together. I liked how they became friends first and then fell in love. I don’t know if I agree with the fact that they kept their relationship a secret, but I liked how they went about it. They tried their best to be honest and they both cared about Travis, Ivy’s brother. Ivy was weary of dating because of a past relationship, but Jake was perfect for her. I liked that Ivy was a teacher and it was fun to read about her interacting with her kids. Jake was funny to me, and I enjoyed reading about his perspective and seeing Spencer and Matt again.
I always love seeing old characters, and I really like how Ms. Mastorakos puts old characters in new books. It was fun to see so many cameos, but a focus on a different couple. Ivy and Jake had to learn whether or not they were willing to make their relationship work, even though Jake was one of Travis’ close friends. Were they willing to take the risk for love?
Believing in You was a great book! I really enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it! It is a clean, sweet Marine book.
This is a sweet tale of a man and woman who find each other via a dating app and quickly learn they share a common denominator…a brother. This is a fantastic best friend’s sister love story. Ivy and Jake’s chemistry flies off the page, and their happily-ever-after is unexpected from the start. Highly recommend this book (and series!!)
Jess Mastorakos has done it again in this latest sweet military romance! I thought my favorite Marine hero was Hawk (from earlier in this series), but Jake in this story was so sweetly swoony that I had to make room for one more favorite. Cannot WAIT until book #5 releases!
BELIEVING IN YOU is a standalone read with a happy ever after. No sex or colorful language so any age group can read and enjoy. This series is about a group of best friends that all are just joining the Marine Corp. They are young but a bit more mature than average. There is a lot of info on the Marines and who they are behind those sexy uniforms.
This story is about one of the group finding “the one” on line. She is Ivy, lives in Fort Worth, Texas and teaches kindergarten. Things are moving along rather well, when he tells her he is getting out of the Marines and will be moving to Ft. Worth. They are excited and falling in love when they discover they have one major thing in common. Her brother, Travis is also a Marine and he happens to be one of her new love’s best friends.
Her last boyfriend was also good friends with Travis. When he up and suddenly moves to New York he broke her heart and Travis took it even harder. It has been a year and they still haven’t spoken. He doesn’t want his sister dating anyone he knows or dating anyone period. He is a bit obsessive about controlling her dating life. She would be about 24, so this seems a little weird to me.
There is a lot of emotional angst as they hide their relationship. This is a good story, more info on the Marines and visits with some previous characters. It seems everybody has an opinion on this new relationship with one of their own. I definitely recommend this book and you won’t feel lost if you haven’t read any of the previous 3 books.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 6/2/2020
