Frida Svand is a mighty warrior. And she might be the only warrior capable of saving the world.Frida Svand is one of three fierce warrior siblings, stranded on the brutal continent of Bruhier. Monsters live the forest below, and high “island” plateaus provide the only safety from above the clouds. It’s a strange place, but the Svand siblings can survive almost anything. That is until they’re asked … anything.
That is until they’re asked to free a High Elf from the prison mine. The High Elves rule the sky islands and rarely even come down to the forest floor. It’s a job the siblings refuse.
Frida, however, sees it as one more way to thumb her nose at the local ruler, Stephan Luthair. He’s a tyrant and the reason they’ve been trapped in this small, mining town instead of finding a ship to take them home.
What she finds is a whole lot more than one lone elven prince. It might just be more than she can handle.

This book centers on Frida, her brother Erik, and sister Estrid who are indebted to the manipulative Luthair, the governor of their town. We also have Arun, a high elf who was fated to live out his days in the deepest part of a coal mine. Other characters, as well, played a big part in this story, too many to mention. Each character left a deep impression on my heart and mind. Hand-to-hand battles fought leaving practically nothing to the imagination as they were so clearly described and often gruesome. Then we find that their town was being attacked by ur’gel and other weird creatures. Of course they had to help the town fight off the evil beings. Lastly, but not in the least, two familiar characters from the previous books make an appearance here. This is a very well written story, one that is unforgettable and meant to be read again and again. Highly recommended.
I just finished a mini-binge, reading both J.A. Culican and Cassidy Taylor’s Being the Suun and Breaking the Suun, the fourth and fifth books of their Legends of the Fallen series, in one single all night gulp. I’m gonna write this review before I collapse (thigh sadly I’m in the hospital now and I know the cruel masters here won’t let me sleep for hours). Bottom line? As much the total addictive fun as the first three books which, come to think of it, I also binge read. Warning to all: these are indeed dangerously addictive books. Frida Svand is the ideal lead and her adventure in these books is as thrilling, exciting, twisted and fun as one could ever want. They are also superbly written and filled with great characters. No wonder these books are just sooo hard to put down. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
OMG, at first I thought I was reading the wrong book because of the characters. We have a whole new set of characters and monsters. Frida, Erik and Estrid live in Barepost, where there are monsters galore and a Stephan Luthaiar who runs the whole town and mine. Erik has a life debt to Luthaiar. Our other characters from the first books come in after you are half way through. There is a High Elf in the mine serving a life sentence. They are asked to break him out, but Erik refuses. Frida takes it on her own. What will happen? Can she free him? How will she do it? Will Luthaiar get his hands on her or Erik? What is Beru telling her? I received a free copy for my honest review.
This is a fantastic add to this epic Series. Frida Svand is a mighty Warrior with her siblings. They are tasked with a mission. This book pulls you in right from the start. It has twists and turns I didn’t see coming, but they are epic. Its a fast paced read. That has you on the edge of your seat and is a real page turner. As you read the series you grow to know these siblings and the other characters. It has you rooting for the characters. The Authors have done a fantastic job with this epic tale that you do not want to miss. A fantastic series that is definitely a must read.
