They say there is happiness at the end of every love story, but they never truly mention the hardships it takes to get there. With Cane, I’d been through hell and back, and now, I was going to be walking up the altar, promising my life to a man that I’d gambled everything for. Some would call me dumb. Some would deem me insane. Others would say I was a fool in love. But I knew what we were, and I … I knew what we were, and I knew what we had was real.
With every marriage, there is always something that can hold you back or make you think twice, and this something was going to be one of our biggest wars yet, or our greatest victory ever.

4.5 stars
This is a short book about Kandy and Cane and they oh-so-expected happily ever after.
After being through so much, they are finally facing a whole reachable future together.
Their story isn’t one to be predictable, so they have a few surprises coming their way.
But it’s so sweet and pretty.
A perfect ending to the Cane series.
I’m so happy I listened to a friend who raved about this series. I definitely needed Quinton Cane in my life… And Kandy, though impulsive and stubborn, she has a heart of gold. I love them together. No doubt there were tense moments in this book, but I’ve come to expect that from Ms. Williams. Nonetheless, she tied up many loose ends in Being Mrs. Cane in a beautiful, heartwarming package.
Perfect ending!
Ah it was so wonderful to see Kandy and Cane get their happy ever after. These two needed it after everything they’d been through together.
Forbidden, angsty, emotional and sinfully sexy… I absolutely LOVED this tension-filled taboo romance!
I’m going to post one review for the entire series (with no spoilers), instead of for each book individually, because I went from one book to the next without even taking a breath. I was utterly HOOKED on this smoldering hot and illicit romance between a young woman and her father’s best friend with a lengthy 17 year age-gap between them!
Ohhh, Mr. Cane… That man did crazy things to my head, my heart and to my lady bits.
Kandy has had a crush on Cane ever since she met him when she was a young girl. He has never seen her more than exactly what she was – his best friend’s daughter… until she’s not a little girl anymore and makes her feelings known, then he starts seeing her in a whole new light. It isn’t just infatuation, it’s not a little crush that will go away anytime soon… she’s been in love with him for years. He resists her as much as he can but she’s grown into a beautiful and charming woman, making it that much harder to fight against her sexual advances. And when he finally gives in and they fall into bed together, it’s a nuclear explosion of raw and unbridled passion so hot that your kindle will need freezer time.
I adored these two together! They had a deep connection with each other and an undeniable chemistry. There were so many obstacles in their way threatening to tear them apart – pissed off parents, a crazy ex-girlfriend, bullies, pasts that haunt them – and there were times when my heart felt like it was in my throat, eyes threatening to spill with tears because I didn’t think they could come back from some of the things thrown at them, but their bond is never weakened. Their love never wavers. They are truly unbreakable.
I’m so glad that I waited to read this series until all the books were released because I don’t think I would’ve been patient waiting for each book. It was a fantastic binge read that I inhaled like I’d been starving for days.
Since this is the first time I’ve read Shanora Williams, I can guarantee I’ll be reading her backlist of books and keeping an eye on all future releases from her. She has some superb storytelling skills that pull the reader into the story, intoxicating them with every emotion laced into her words, and bringing her characters to life.
My ratings for each book:
Wanting Mr. Cane (Cane, #1) – 5 Stars
Breaking Mr. Cane (Cane, #2) – 5 Stars
Loving Mr. Cane (Cane, #3) – 4 Stars
Being Mrs. Cane (Cane, #3.5) – 4 Stars
Series Rating: 4.5 Stars!
This conclusion to the Cane Series was everything I could have hoped it would be. Shanora writes a brilliant ending that ties up a lot of loose ends yet still brings us more of Cane and Kandy’s world. There is still some strife that emerged for the lovers, but their love has proven that it can withstand anything that comes at it.
With their family around them, they finally get their HEA. I loved this entire series and am sad to see it end. Looking forward to maybe a book about Frankie and Clay? 5 Perfect Stars!!
So I am going to sum up books 2-3.5 in this review since I just read them back to back. It’s been awhile since I had finished book 1 but I knew I needed to finish the series after I was left reeling from the the first books ending.
I have always been a fan of Shanora Williams and love her style of writing. This series was a little different from what I normally read but I was intrigued after the first book. The storyline is unique and my curiosity had me glued but I dont think its William’s best work. You may read it and it will become your favorite series but it was lacking for me. The romance was lovely although at times a bit childish and repetitive. There was drama and sometimes it flowed easily with the dialogue and others it felt forced. Even though this may not be her best work, in my opinion, the storyline is still good. I look forward to what William’s releases in the future. Till then, buy the series and enjoy.
I have really enjoyed this series from the very beginning and this book was the absolute perfect next step. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster ride but it was well worth all of the trial and tribulations getting us to this final place.
Being Mrs. Cane is the Final book of the Cane series.. … We couldn’t ask for a better conclusion.. so many great things that we get to see with Kandy and Cane.. not only we get to finally see them happier and with a very good future.. but we also feel and see in this final book that they really needed to have this
“Cane and I deserved this. After everything we’d been through, we deserved our own slice of happiness. We’d faced a lot of battles, been through a lot of wars”
Being Mrs. Cane is a great book that let us learn more about these amazing characters.. We get to see a more mature Kandy, working more on her dreams and needs.. but at the same time she still being stubborn and sassy when she needs to be.. she really scared me a few times in some parts of the book, making me think something was happening.. love her character so much..
“I couldn’t believe the joy I was feeling—the warmth and power in my chest. This was what unconditional love felt like, I realized. It was powerful, emotional, and rooted deep within my soul. Nothing could describe it or replace it—this feeling so monumental it swallowed you whole and refused to let go.”
Cane is more open, trying to make things right, not going to old patterns, trying to communicate more when it came to Kandy. you can feel the love between them so strongly, the chemistry is even more intense. love how his needs to protect Kandy get even stronger showing how much he loves her and cares for her..
“My fiancé was the most handsome man in the world. Every time I looked at him, a frenzy of butterflies went haywire inside me. I went up to him, and he stretched his arms open, pulling me close.”
I don’t want to say much about it so I won’t spoil the fun but is a great book, a great conclucion.. it feels right that they finally had their forever after so many people and circumstances trying to separate them.. and now they won the hardest battles of all..
“My heart will beat only for you, because my heart belongs to you. I vow to be here with you for the rest of my life, till my dying breath. You are mine, and I am yours, and it will be that way forever.”
so many great things happen with all the other great characters who support this amazing story, Lorna still my best girl she is sassy, crazy, a true warrior with a great heart, love that we also got to see Kandy’s parents and Cane’s mother all finally finding their on happiness and peace..
Overall, Love the conclusion, the story, the characters it was a great series. I’m going to miss Kandy and Cane a lot.
Looking forward to read more stories by Shanora Williams.
“Wow…this man. This man was going to be my forever and always. He was going to be my husband, my king, my everything.”
In the final installment of Kandy and Cane’s story, I could not have been more excited for the details of this love story. As in in everyone’s life story there are the ups and down and uncertainties, and even through the struggle with age and family, the way these characters move forward with blessings and how they come at you, the good and the bad developed effortlessly. There is always a past, present and future. How this was written, really allows you to feel the past and the anguish it may cause, but put the characters in the present beautifully so that the future could be possible. This was a HEA, that had me crying, loving and smiling right to the end!
This book had a lot less drama than the rest of the series but was still as awesome! It was good to see a slower pace and be able to sit back and enjoy the show! I really want a Frankie series and a Lora series!
4.5 stars. Kandy and Quinton get the happily ever after they deserve. Through the ups and downs, this series is written so you feel every emotion. This book was action filled and kept you wondering what would happen next to the once forbidden couple. Their love saw them through every hardship and leaves you feeling warm and tingly. Well done!
And with this the Cane and Kandy’s story is complete. I enjoyed the dual perspectives and felt all the loose ends were wrapped up in this quick and easy read with a few little surprises built in.
Well done Shanora
What a fantastic wrap up for the series! I loved it! While Shanora can make us gasp at the cliffhangers she comes up with she manages to win us all back with the fantastic thought of a HEA.
I couldn’t love Kandy and Cane more. While there was an age difference you really can’t help who you fall in love with.
I am hoping maybe we’ll get to see these two again—maybe in a story all about Lora.
After all the ups and downs and the angst. The tears that were shed, the wondering of how they will work and rise above the people trying to pull them apart. All my prayers have been answered and now as I read this book my tears were tears of happiness that this couple finally got their happy ending. What is fitting end to a pretty tumultuous series. Shanora Williams definitely knows how to write an angsty, taboo read that just grips you.
I loved this series. It was a twisty windy ride. I loved Cane and Kandy story.
Being Mrs. Cane was the perfect ending to Kandy and Cane’s insane taboo relationship. Throughout the series Kandy and Cane have had to endure so much to be together. Their love is one that although forbidden and frowned upon by society, is unconditional, forgiving and forever. As per Cane craziness, Kandy and Cane’s relationship was put to the test even to the very end. However, Kandy’s faith in Cane and the strength she has gained through the ups and downs made her a force to be reckoned with. I love the woman that Kandy has become and how Cane has finally found his forever in Kandy, his peace. What once started as a reckless secret love affair became a once in a lifetime forever.
I couldn’t be happier with how Shanora Williams developed this story from the beginning to the very end. Kandy never gave up her deep love and belief in Cane, even when things got really bad. Cane was willing to sacrifice his happiness just to see Kandy happy again. I am so happy that they found their happiness together.
It’s so awesome to get an ending that you love in a series! This number 3.5 in the Cane series by Shanora. Such an angsty, turbulent ride this was. Younger woman/older man age gap taboo. Absolutely loved it.
I thought this was a cute addition to the Cane Trilogy. There was a little bit of drama but the majority of the story circles around the happiness that Cane and Kandy have found, along with many blessings. It also brings a lot of closure to the many situations these two found themselves in throughout the trilogy. It made me happy to see things come full circle for these two. I definitely enjoyed this little snippet into their life.
Well the Cane series has come to a fab end *sobs in a corner*
I have certainly been on a fantastic sexy journey.
Shanora is just so freaking amazing and I love her Dads Best Friend books. So I knew this series would be right up my street.
Mr. Cane Gahhh I’m seriously going to miss that man!!! He was just EVERYTHING AND MORE!! He’s changed a hell of a lot from the very first book. He’s now right up on my list sharing the spot with #DaddyBlack
Kandy Cane She’s grown into her own so much since the first book. She’s had so much that happened to her in each book but that made her so much stronger. Her and Cane together…. #PureMagic
I really am going to miss this series. From the very first book till the very last books…. Just loved it.
I’ve had laughter, sad and happy tear, swooned oh so much and wanted to slap someone so much all the way through the series.
But I wouldnt have it any other way lol.
Well done Shanora again on this fabulous read xx
