From New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart, comes a brand new standalone novel. BEING BROOKE is a laugh-out-loud, witty, and sometimes highly inappropriate romantic comedy about being in love with your best friend. And how much that freaking sucks. My name is Brooke Barker… And I’m a freaking disaster. No, seriously. I’m a college drop-out working a dead-end job, my best friend Carly’s dog … friend Carly’s dog gets more action than I do, and I have more bad dates in my diary than there are movie remakes.
Not to mention I’m completely and utterly in love with Cain Elliott.
The problem? He’s in a relationship. With a girl who’s so plastic she makes Barbie cry herself to sleep with jealousy.
The second problem? He’s my best friend.
My shut-up-and-put-on-Harry-Potter, yes-this-is-your-shirt, help-I-have-no-power, crap-I’m-out-of-tampons, kinda best friend.
And that’s all he can be, right?
Right.

Enjoyed this book. Very easy reading.
Easy read. I enjoyed the book although I personally found it a little predictable.
Brooke is a clumsy, adorable, hot mess of a woman. She has been in unrequited love with her best friend since forever. Cain is the best friend who is always on call, much to his hoping-to-be-wife annoyance. Everyone knows how Brooke feels about Cain, except Cain! This is written from the narrative of Brooke and I love the wit, sarcasm and self-deprecation that she uses to tell her story. I like that friends to lovers didn’t result in a complete change in either the character or actions of Brooke and Cain and that they didn’t become unbearably romantic and gushy – would not have been believable. A fun read.
This was one of the funniest books I have read in a very long time. Makes you not want to put it down.
Love this book made me laugh.
This was a quick read but enjoyable and funny
Don’t bother. Brook’s snarky behavior is annoying. It never stops.
Cover art doesn’t match the story, worth reading.
I didn’t like, silly book
This book was a hilarious friends-to-lovers romance novel with a particular lead character. Brooke is a walking disaster, but I loved her brand of crazy. I read it real quick and enjoyed the hell out if this book. Looking forward for more books by this author.
Far too wordy. Some of it is fun, but just too much banter to get to the heart of the story.
Entertaining but I just didn’t find the main character very likeable throughout most of the book.
Loved this book , I would laugh
Out loud
Get ready for a whole lot of witty, snarky banter and even more CRAZY!!!
Brooke is a totally lovable. Her closest family and friends refer to her as a Hot Mess! A college drop out, working a job she hates, Brooke is flailing. She’s completely over-the-top dramatic yet endearing at the same time. Surrounded by family that loves her, but worries about her. Her mom’s got the guilt thing and the market cornered on underhanded insults, but you grow to appreciate her.
She’s often found trading goid natured-barbs with her two bff’s: Carly and Cain. They are a huge part of her life since she’s not much on people, or socializing or doing much other than laying around and drinking wine. Too bad she’s in love with one of them.
Cain’s drop dead gorgeous and always coming to her rescue. He’s a good guy…mostly. Unfortunately she’s been in love with him forever and he’s totally clueless! Currently has a girlfriend no one can stand that is until he doesn’t anymore.
Brooke has to decide if telling him how she feels is worth risking their friendship. But what if…the feeling is mutual?
Get ready for a wild and crazy ride! This story was sweet, swoony and totally hilarious! And that ending will give you all the feels.
This is how I would write my story.
LOVED IT!! I have not laughed so much reading a book like this in a long time. Takes the “in love with my best friend” plot and adds a very realistic and relatable story line to it. Brooke is a 20 something attempting to “adult” while working within a slightly dysfunctional family dynamic. All while trying to find the courage to finally deal with her feelings towards her best friend. Great, easy read that will make you laugh out loud more than you knew you could at a romance novel.
It was a cute read.
Decent story, but the constant use of swearing was a bit much.
To hard to understand! Stopped reading it
This book is so fast paced and phenomenal!!!!!
