Zahak the former Daemon Prince of Sheol is obsessed with a human woman he is not supposed to have but just can’t let go. He is the lesser of two evils but evil nonetheless. Ashamed of what he is, Zahak hides behind a skull mask and centuries of walls he erected to hide from his own truth. After all, who could love a monster like him? Certainly not a Beauty named Petra
This is based on the beauty and the beast fairy tale. This has a new take it which is much darker than the original tale. Brilliant and different

Not too impressed with the story but that’s just me. The narrator was however very good at bringing it life.
A modern twist on the classic beauty and the beast tale, Petra is in an unwanted engagement to a man she doesn’t love but she meets Zahak and his crew of misfits and is instantly drawn to him but feels torn between family and the love that is growing between them even as a daemon prince who cant let his walls down so fast. well written with a great story plot quite different from the other retelling out there. cant wait to hear more from the crew!

After reading this book I had to take a little time to compose myself and get my thoughts clear in my head before I put them in a review.
Wow this book was amazingly written. Once I started I couldn’t put it down till I was finished. This book has twists and turns you don’t know what’s happening. will they all get there happily ever after or will it all go wrong. To find out what happens go buy the book. You won’t be disappointed I wasn’t.

I absolutely love all the characters and the way Ms. Flame showed the emotions of all the characters, making it easy for me to relate to them. The whole concept of the book teaches us not to judge a book by it’s cover, so to speak. She twisted the fairy tale perfectly, making it a great afternoon read.
Steamy Retelling of Beauty and the Beast will capture your attention!
Behind the Veil: Beauty and the Daemon by LaSasha Flame.

This is a new take on the Beauty and the Beast story with an interesting twist on the tale.
I found the story to be well written and easy to read, with some dark elements but not as heavy as the author’s previous story in this collection/series. Once again, the characters were well developed with distinct and well thought out personalities. Overall, an enjoyable variation on the classic tale and a very enjoyable read.
Highly recommended.

For me, this is the second book by this author, and also the second book in her Dark Immortal series, and unlike the previous one which had a historical fantasy feel, this story has a more of an urban feel to it and I love the versatility the author is expressing in her writing style. I also love the cultural diversity the author is expressing here. But most importantly, the author’s imagination and the ability to transform the familiar story into something completely original is impressive.
The author’s approach to beauty and the beast is somewhat different here because Petra, the main character is not the prisoner of the beast, but her family and the societal norms and expectations. Not only that she saves Zahak from his destiny and lifelong misery and unhappiness, she also finds her own salvation in him. Their match is as perfect as it is unlikely and their story is beautiful. And hot and steamy.
I loved the previous story, I loved this one, and I can’t wait to see what the author comes up with next. I do have some ideas because here and there the author hints at some possibilities and introduces and array of interesting characters which I hope get their stories in future.
I liked this audiobook a little better than the last one by her that I listened to. I do not think this author is for me though. I feel bad leaving reviews for a title I don’t love but I did promise. The world building is ok as are the characters and story line. Nothing was striking about it which is the disappointment.
I will say I am extremely picky & critical so for those reasons I would recommend you give it a try & decide for yourself. Not everyone likes the same things.
I do see potential in this author, hence the 4 stars.
I really enjoyed the audiobook detailing the friendship, budding romance then love story between Zahak and Petra. There were times when I really want Petra to make the decision between the 2 who were after her heart but ultimately she accepted her feelings and committed to the one she knew was her soulmate.
Zahak’s “parents” were the worst. My goodness the fact that they were so driven to be the most powerful, at all costs, had me rooting for Zahak to get the upper hand and his freedom from them. I also found myself very cheering him on to become the baddest he could be so they wouldn’t be able to manipulate him any longer.
I loved the tight knit friendships that were discussed in the story but at the end the fact that his “sister” may a rash decision that now will be forcing Zahak to intervene ticked me off but it lead to a great cliffhanger. I can’t wait to find out more about Aladdin!
I also enjoyed listening to the narrators as they spun and wove the listener into a world of wonder with their voices. The inflections were spot on. I think they did a wonderful job of executing an exciting story. I would definitely recommend this audiobook!
This is a audiobook that I volunteered to listened to in exchange for my fair and honest feedback.
I loved this book. It took a while for me to get through but it was definitely one of my favorites. The narrators voice was soothing too. I highly recommend this audiobook. I can’t wait for the next one.
I don’t have any complaints about the narrator. He did his job but I wasn’t in love with the voice but I didn’t hate it either. Much like the story it was eh. I didn’t love the story I didn’t hate it. The prologue had my attention but then it just kind went a little lack luster after that. I am not sure how it’s a beauty and the beast retelling but the story line is good. I just wasn’t captivated by it and I feel it could have been told more cohesively. The main character was wishy-washy and not how I see any version of belle but over all. It wasn’t a bad way to pass the day while running errands in the car today.
I did enjoyed listening to this book. I won’t be the normal book I would read, but I did like to listen to it. The story was original to me. I like how it told of two stories in one. I would listen to the next one.
Wow! What a great read/listen. I loved the intro to all these characters. A misfit group of chosen family that is so relatable. A story of acceptance and sacrifice and a love that overcomes. I loved the sweet and steamy. The bonds and dynamics of these characters. The narration was wonderfully done, smooth and easy to listen to bringing the characters and story to life. Loved everything about this listen!
