Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth; she has charm and elegance. He’s a dedicated attorney who has never lost a case; she is a flawless homemaker, a masterful gardener and cook, and dotes on her disabled younger sister. Though they are still newlyweds, they seem to have it all. You might not want to like them, but you do. You’re hopelessly charmed by the ease and … and comfort of their home, by the graciousness of the dinner parties they throw. You’d like to get to know Grace better.
But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are inseparable.
Some might call this true love. Others might wonder why Grace never answers the phone. Or why she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. Or why she never seems to take anything with her when she leaves the house, not even a pen. Or why there are such high-security metal shutters on all the downstairs windows.
Some might wonder what’s really going on once the dinner party is over, and the front door has closed.

This is just terrible just made my anxiety terrible I just wanted to like reach out and smack the the main character the wife and the husband was just horrible and they just couldn’t like this book
I didn’t like it at first but after a few pages, I was hooked.
DNF
This book was incredibly good!!! I was hooked from the start! I had to keep reading to see what Jack would do to Grace! This is the first book I’ve read by B.A. Paris, but I’ve now already pre-ordered her next book and added her other to my list at the library! Must-read! Keeps your attention and guessing to what may happen until the very end!!
I waited a few days before writing this review, and it didn’t really clear up my feelings on “Behind Closed Doors.” I think I liked it? The writing was vivid and it was unlike anything I’ve read before, but it was deeply unsettling and the pace confused me at times. If you’re a fan of domestic thrillers (which I’m not) this is for you, but if you’re bothered by that kind of story (which I kind of was), steer clear.
Not a book I would normally choose to read but it was part of my book clubs choice for this month. Once I began reading I could hardly put it down. Chilling and a little scary, this book will give you nightmares.
Difficult to read because of the cruelty involved. Ending was very good and why I gave it three stars.
This book is the first book I read from B.A Paris. I really enjoyed it. It was suspenseful and very unique. This is probably one of the best books I’ve read this year.
It was like a movie, only better, because it was as book, of course. It was so intense and so exactly like the title, so behind closed doors. It was awful. I checked the genre once I had gotten into it (hadn’t checked that before. I always pretty much enter a book blindly) and yeah, no wonder, it’s “thriller.” I very rarely read thrillers, or watch them. So awful! The characters were wonderful! The good was really good and great and the astonishing was so very much shocking. The bad was so evil and wrong. It was MUCH. I read it in like a day, and I never have time to do that, but I reckon I MADE TIME to do that. There are so many parts I’d love to talk to you about once you’ve read it too. I had to check and see if this author has others. She has one. I’m going to get my hands on it pretty soon, as soon as I can. I recommended it to like three friends right off the bat. And they supposedly ARE making a movie about it.
Psychopath thriller. Prominent attorney marries beautiful girl who has a sister with Down Syndrome with profound evil intent.
I was so excited to read this book. I thought it was going to be a domestic thriller. It was. But I don’t feel the characters had enough backstory to justify why they did what they did.
*** SPOILER ***
Personally I did not like tthat one of the intended victims was a disabled/handicapped person. I work with severely disabled children and their families and was sickened by this plot and portrayal of this character. I almost didn’t finish the book. I skipped through half of the book just to get to the end so I could have closure.
Variation on typical domestic violence story. Enjoyed presentation style
Fantastic! Couldn’t put it down. Well developed characters and intriguing plot. You won’t be disappointed
Edge of the bed stuff. Utterly gripping.
Excellent read, I couldn’t put it down from the middle on as I wanted to find out how it turns out!
excellent!
Unrealistic plot with tedious, cardboard characters. The victim mentality is quite annoying, to the point where I just wanted to smack the narrator.
It was not a book I would usually choose to read, but it was available and I took a chance…..it was great! Disturbing….but a page turner! I couldn’t put it down.
I found this book to be disturbing and unpleasant. The fact that a man would hold his wife hostage and abuse her along with her developmentally disabled sister was abhorrent! I could not even enjoy the wife’s ultimate escape because it all felt too uncomfortable. Not a fan.
Another great book, I just loved it!
