From tragedy comes destiny.Cassidy is a 17-year-old girl being raised by her father in San Diego, California. Her existence is a mixed blessing, full of life but burdened with the knowledge that her mother died while giving birth to her. Her mother’s absence constantly weighs on her mind, but she trusts her loving father to protect her like he’s always done.Until the day that she discovers the … that she discovers the truth.
Cassidy is a Behesian – born with dark magic and the ability to do extraordinary things – and it was her mother’s parting gift to her. She’s not the only one out there and her dark gift makes her the strongest one alive. However, her father has kept her talents a secret, but not for her peace of mind. He works for The Brotherhood, a secretive organization that tracks and studies supernatural people… and his daughter is the perfect test subject.
She finally realizes the crucial decision she faces: either stay with her father, the only family she’s ever known – or join her new Behesian brethren in the ultimate fight for survival.
Behesian is a thrilling Young Adult novel about the choices we make and who we really are. Author Isaiyan Morrison crafts this compelling tale of self-discovery against a backdrop of magic, wonder and fate. Because when the true meaning of family gets lost between the lines, sometimes the only way forward… is through your heart.

Fast paced and action packed, this tale is a real page turner. Lots of intrigue, these characters truly could headline their own spinoffs. This book is a stand-alone, but did a remarkable job of stimulating interest into other works by this author! The book holds true to its blurb and the cover stimulates curiosity without revealing any mysteries! Truly glad to have read this! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Fear is the strongest weakness and weapon.
Proven in reality daily. Taken to many extremes by propaganda. Often orchestrated by those with power and greedy for more. Who suffers? Innocent people who only really wanted to be happy.
Loved it! Fast paced and full of action! I couldn’t put this book down. I enjoyed the characters and constantly trying to figure out what was going on.
Cassidy isn’t your typical teenager, she has magic. She just doesn’t know it. When she finds out the truth, she discovers she was lied to by her father. Now she has to make a choice. Join her new friends, Behesian teens, or stay with daddy. To choose is hard at times.
This story took me a bit of time to actually get into the book. I had to actually set it aside and read a different book so I could come back and stick with this one.
While I’m sure the author meant for this book to be one that stands on it’s own, I feel for the reader to get the full experience of this world they should read some of the other books like Deamhan and maybe a Brotherhood Files book to understand more about the other supernaturals that are mentioned in this book as well as getting a better feel for this world the author created. I wish, after reading this book I knew what really happened in Vian when it was destroyed. There’s obviously Elijah and his father’s version, then there’s Cassidy’s father’s (who is the president of his region of the Brotherhood), and then there’s the other Behesians who were there who just believe that Cassidy’s mother went nuts and killed everyone. Also ‘Bridging’ between Behesians is apparently common, but I’m not exactly sure what that is…does it mean they are with their soul mate? I also wish we could’ve learned why Darrien couldn’t bridge with someone.
I didn’t really care too much for any of the characters. Or maybe I just didn’t feel like I didn’t get a chance to connect to them like I really wanted. There’s just so many different point of views in this book. We go from Cassidy to Elijah to Milan and then to Darrien. There’s just so much happening that we never get to know them. For instance Milan and Darrien used to be friends but went their separate ways when Darrien chose to go with the Brotherhood. But even after being confronted with the lies the Brotherhood told Darrien he still chose them and would push his anger off on Milan. Why did Milan hate using his Dark powers? He eventually does in the book, but even Ava calls him out on not using them and we don’t know why. Lastly, Naomi…did she really know Darrien or was that just something she was trying to use to get in his head?
All in all, this story is so unique and once I actually sat down to read it, I went through it and really enjoyed it. But at the end I’m still left with so many more questions that I’m not 100% sure we will be getting answers to…especially with the ending we got.
4 out of 5 stars
Cassidy is a typical 17 year old girl living with her father in San Diego , living a good life but has a ache in her heart knowing that her mother died giving birth to her . She trusts her dad to protect her until the day she finds out the truth . That there is more to her , she is Beshesian , born of dark magic . Will she go and help out the Behesian or stay with the only family she knows .
Cassidy is your typicial teenager, living with her dad and step sister . She is sweet and there is a sadness to her also . But when she turns seventeen all things seem to fall apart for her and you really start to see her come into her own . She becomes a fierce character as she comes into her powers. There are many characters in this story , some of them god and some of them bad . A couple of characters i liked besides Cassidy , were Darrien and Milan , they started out as friends but drifted apart because they didn’t want the same things in life . They do come back together to do what is right to help everyone out.
When I sat down to read this book , I was a little confused I didn’t exactly know where the author was going to take me . I started reading and was just a little confused at the beginning but then I hit chapter 4 and things started making sense to me then bang it really took off . I couldn’t put it down the characters jumped out at me and I started to like them . This is a great fantasy book for the young reader in your life . Your teens will devour it . There are many twists and turns and you will start to care for the characters and want Cassidy to make the right choice . So if you want a good book for your teens summer reading challenge add it to the list

I found this book very addictive, it easily kept my attention. The characters were interesting, unique and most had suffered great loss. Some of the characters are Behesians, they have dark magic, which gives them powers and they all have different power’s.
The Behesians are on the run, from a sinister group called the brotherhood that tries to catch them and then does unimaginable things to them. Some of the Behesians actually work with this group, against their own people.
The main character is Cassie who lived most her life not knowing she is Behesian. Little did she know, nothing about the life she was living was true, it was all a lie. She’s sweet and kind of innocent, at least for a while. Everyone wants her the evil group her fellow Behesians and she is confused.
This book moves right along, has plenty of action, loss, a lot of cool power’s and fighting, people double crossing each other and a hint of a relationship?
The world building was amazing and these characters really stand out, they’re relatable, all have their own unique personalities and I truly enjoyed them. The story line drew me in and kept me completely engrossed. I’m definitely glad I read this book and highly recommend it.

Behesians is a spin off of the Deamhan series. I found it to be exceptionally well written with well developed and believable characters who are also interesting. Cassidy (LFC) has all her life believed she is different somehow. She has dreams of her mother who died giving her birth (so she has been told). On her seventeen birthday her world is turned upside down and will never be the same again. This is a real page-turner which is action packed, intriguing, with twists and turns. Highly recommend. Received a copy from Booksprout and this is my voluntary and honest review.

I completely enjoyed this story of magic and mayhem. The main characters were believable and tugged at my heart on occasion. The journey of a young girl discovering her heritage and the difficulties she encounters made for an interesting and I read this book in one sitting. Can’t wait for the next book.

ONE INCREDIBLE READ!!!
Wow! Oh man, talk about ripping your heart in two. If you’re looking for an action packed, fast paced, hard hitting, smooth flowing, heart pounding, pulse racing, nailbiting, page turning bombshell that’s as riveting as it is captivating. Congrats my friends you’ve found it. A whirlwind of emotions and events that really pulls those heartstrings. Twists and turns, unexpected circumstances and unpredictable surprises you never see coming until it slaps you in the face. HARD! All the drama, fear, heartache, uncertainty, mystery, danger and suspense increases steadily as the tension spirals while the plot thickens. The characters are complex and believable with such depth and individuality it’s easy to relate. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it really pulls this little gem together beautifully. The scenes are so graphic and detailed it’s easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Isaiyan did an excellent job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Remarkable job Isaiyan, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
Iris was finding that it was all still new to her as she practiced her powers, learning how to harness the dark gift from the Tree of Life, able to talk to animals through her mind, and even use them as weapons. As a Behesian, they each had different gifts, some more destructive than others.
Cassidy was having dreams of a town that seemed familiar and yet not familiar. There was one main street. People were friendly and waved but didn’t talk. There was only fresh smells and a feeling of belonging and not wanting to leave. There was a beautiful woman there too. She never spoke, but they spent time together. She knew somehow that this was her mother, even though she died when Cassidy was a baby. Then, back in her “real” life, her sister Sara banged on the door and woke her to come down for her 17th birthday breakfast celebration. She hated her birthday, but it was a big deal to her father. Later, Sara would be taking Cassidy to a coffee shop she had found — for her birthday.
At the coffee shop, there were no seats left except for a table with one guy sitting there. There was something odd about him. He felt familiar to her and she thought she had passed him when she walked down the road with her mother in her dream! He kept staring at her. Then the guy in line behind her asked if he had met her before. She seemed familiar to him. She got her latte and bagel order and went to the table where Sara sat with Elijah. Then the guy behind her followed her to the table and asked if he could sit with them! Darrien and Elijah were both from out of town. Strangely, Elijah said there were lots of strange things out in the world, like people with powers. What did that mean?? When Elijah rose to leave and shook hands with Cassidy, her entire palm tingled and Elijah’s cup burst into flames! Darrien left also, amazed that he had found the Behesian he had been searching for. He needed to notify the Brotherhood! Cassidy’s life will never be the same! Will she survive what’s coming? And who can she trust when she had lived a life of lies?
This was a real page-turner! It was difficult to know the good-guys from the bad-guys, or maybe if there were any good-guys at all! The story is fast-paced and intriguing. The characters are fascinating! Grab a copy of this book and immerse yourself in magic! It’s an exciting experience!
5 CRANKY STARS
This is the start of a sister series to this author’s Deamhan Chronicles but it can be read as a stand alone. Once I finished this book, I immediately wanted more so I read the other series. Only thing wrong with all of these books seems to be wrong with all ebooks- typo’s and need for better proofreading. I thought it was maybe the copy I had but the 5 book series is just as bad and its been out for a while.
Anyway, if you like stories of “humans” with superpowers, this book is for you. Behesians don’t consider themselves human even though that is how they look. Their powers are considered “dark” and are different for each individual. There is an organization that studies them but not every Behesian trusts this group.
Our heroine is a young girl, Cassidy. She lives with her father and stepsister. She knows nothing about magic or Behesians. A trip to a coffee shop on her birthday changes all that. In fact, it changes her life into a nightmare. The people she meets that night tear her life apart. One group hates her and the other group wants to use her. Worst of all are the truths she must accept about the lies her father and sister have told her. This is definitely a thriller and page turner. A true YA novel too.
