Until a compelling celestial force dragged them both reluctantly to Castle Kevynor…more
This anthology was another delightful addition to the fabulous Castle Keyvnor series!
Miss Penneck & the Pixie Poem by Deb Marlowe – 4 stars – A sweet romance between a bookshop owner and a progressive printer, aided by a book loving Pixie. This well written, fast-paced novella opens with Puff, a young Pixie who loves stories and who is still trying to figure out her magic, fifty years later she still hasn’t figured it out, but has attached herself to the local bookshop, owned by Miss Lowenna Penneck. Lowenna hasn’t been in Brocka Morrow long, she learned of the empty shop and leased it from the Earl at Keyvnor Castle. She has settled in with her widower father, who is still grieving the loss of his beloved wife. Lowenna hopes the shop will be the fresh start they both need. Ruan Trevellick arrives in Brocka Morrow looking to make a fresh start too. He is a printer and was invited to set up shop in the village by the Countess. Imagine his surprise when he finds a bookshop in his space! A trip to the castle confirms that they were both promised the space and the Earl and Countess promise to make things right. In the meantime, Lowenna offers to let him set up his press in her back room – an offer he gladly accepts. Things progress quickly between them and seem to be going well, until Ruan’s past catches up with him and he may have to give up the woman he loves to save her! It will take the help of a Pixie to give these two their HEA. A completely wonderful story with cameos from previous characters, Pixies, sweet kissing love scenes, a nasty villain and a wonderful HEA.
A Spirited Courtship by Jane Charles – 4 stars – A sweet second chance love story featuring Diana Vail and James Bryant, the Earl of Somerton. Diana has fallen in love with James and believes he loves her too, until she overhears his friends speculating about his relationship with Diana – they are sure he is just using her to keep his matchmaking momma at bay, they also hear that James slept with Diana’s widowed mother!! Diana is so distraught by this news that she finds James, slaps him and tells him she never wants to see him again! Months pass as they meet again at the wedding of Lady Gwyn at Castle Keyvnor. James hasn’t gotten over Diana and has no idea why she was so upset, he was going to let her go, but seeing her again stirs up his feelings and he wants answers!! Throw in a trio of ghosts that need to break a curse by helping a maiden find true love and you have a very fun story! This novella was well written, fun read with kissing only love scenes, a stubborn heroine, meddling ghosts, witches, gypsies, a pixie or ten and a nail biting ending.
Written in the Stars by Virginia Heath – 5 stars – Of the three, this second chance romance was my favorite. Five years ago Cecily Grimshaw and Spencer Tremayne were madly in love and on the brink of marriage when Chaos wreaked havoc on their HEA. Cecily sees a woman leaving Spencer’s house in a wanton display of dishabille and she imagines the worst – she writes a letter breaking with him and quits her job as governess to get away from him. He is stunned and heartbroken, he had planned to marry her and practice law, but in his despair he gives up his dreams and joins the military – keeping them apart for five long years. The Powers that Be need to set this couple back on track and only have two weeks to do it – Serendipity assures Destiny, Luck, Cupid and Reason that she has it well in hand – she has set her plan in motion to reunited the lovers, they are not convinced until they learn that she has them set to meet again in Brocka Morrow and Castle Keyvnor and with a little help from a fairy – Serendipity is sure she will prevail – after all, she hasn’t missed a deadline in 10,000 years!! This was such a sweet story, with wonderful characters, magic, witty banter, touching flashbacks and a sweet HEA.
This is an ongoing series of interconnected stories, but they can all be read as stand alone novellas and I promise if you read one, you will want to read them all!!
*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an eARC that was provided to me*
This time of year I’m either buying anthologies like crazy or going through my TBR. Why? Because wrapping presents, baking, and running errands is time consuming, but I don’t want to give up any reading HEA time! I just love reading this one…..
Beguiled at the Wedding was just a delight to read. Miss Penneck & the Pixie’s Poem by Deb Marlowe, A Spirited Courtship by Jane Charles , and Written in the Stars by Virginia Heath. Between the three stories, we have ghosts trying to break a curse, a pixie that learns to read, and a celestial force trying to undo the forces for chaos. They were such a delight to read.
Beguiled at the Wedding is a splendid collection of stories by Jane Charles, Virginia Heath, and Deb Marlowe. The couples find themselves at the magical and enchanting castle Keyvnor where love it seems, always reigns.
A Spirited Courtship by Jane Charles
This was a wonderful story of a second chance at love. But of course they were misunderstandings and miss givings in the way. Thankfully there were three wonderful, though aggravating ghosts to help this couple find their way back to one another. The problem was there was a deadline of the summer solstice in order for these three ghosts to get their final rest. And they do have their job cut out for them.
The author did a wonderful job developing her characters. The story was well written, engaging and entertaining. The dialogue was done well and quite funny at times, though I admit it brought tears to my eyes. This was such a wonderful love story and such a delight to read. I was rooting for Diana and James all the way from the beginning to the end. It was such a wonderful ending.
Thank you so much Jane for such a wonderful love story!
Miss Pennick & the Pixie’s Poem by Deb Marlowe
Another lovely story about two people who share the same passions and come to fall in love. Beset by problems on the path to their happily ever after this couple have a little pixie named Puff to weave her magic through words. It was an absolutely delightful and Puff was so precious!
I’ve never read anything by Deb Marlowe but I’m sure glad that I read the story because I’ll be on the lookout for more. This story was well written and the characters are absolutely charming. I so loved Lowena and Ruan’s romance so much. It was just a magical!
Thank you so much Deb for such a charming story and the magic of love!
Written in the Stars By Virginia Heath
Again, this is another wonderful story of two stubborn people once in love who lost their way. Destiny and Serendipity are there to help them find their way back to one another. I loved watching Cecily and Spencer open their hearts to one another.
The story is well written, the dialogue is amazing and fun and the characters were likeable despite being stubborn. You can’t help but root for them all the way.
I have never read anything by Virginia Heath and I’m so glad I had this opportunity to read her story. It’s so wonderful to find and enjoy new authors
Thank you so much Virginia for this story of destiny and love! I enjoyed it immensely.
Castle Keyvnor.. That magical place where anything can happen with the spirits, pixies and other worldly characters help bring the guest together or at least make mischief! Three great authors bring their stories to life as men and women attend a summer wedding at the castle.
Miss Pennick & the Pixie’s Poem by Deb Marlowe
Finally having achieved her dream of opening a bookstore, Miss Lowenna Pennick is faced with printer Ruan thinking her shop’s space was his. But with some villains wanting to do harm to Ruan for his good deeds of helping young readers, the pair team up together. With the help of a sweet Pixie, Puff, and a little magic, it seems these two might find their happy ever after too! Sweet!
A Spirited Courtship by Jane Charles
A wonderful story of true love, almost not given a chance due to gossip being overheard. But three determined ghost sentenced to a life stuck in the castle until they can bring true love to a couple. Diana and James had begun to develop a deep love for each other, until she overheard some of Jame’s friends talking. She quickly breaks off their courtship and tries to nurse her broken heart. But a wedding she has to attend at neighboring Castle Keyvnor brings them back together. As much as they try to avoid each other three enchanting ghosts are determined to bring them together. Fun, delightful, full of humor but touching, I loved their journey and could not wait to see what happened!
Written in the Stars by Virginia Heath
Second chances rarely come around, but it seems possible with Miss Cecily Grimshaw and Capt Spencer Tremayne. Five years ago they seemed to find each other and fall in love quickly and their happy ever after was destined. But that was vanquished by an unexpected happening. Now they are coming into contact again and the wrongs of the past are trying to be righted by the entities at Castle Keynor. Could they find that true love they had and lost? Loved this story and was delightful!
Miss Penneck and the Pixies Poem
I loved the story of Ruan and Lowenna. The story was quick and thorough, so we knew the characters as they fell in love and we could see why! Puff was adorable at finding her magic. The perfect ending for the perfect couple! (Although I do wish the villain had gotten more in the end!)
A Spirited Courtship
The 2nd story of Diana and James, I enjoyed the story except for the fact that she immediately believed everything she heard being gossiped and never gave James a chance to explain. And even after they talked, she never told him what else she thought she heard. That part annoyed me in the book but I still loved the ending.
Written in the Stars
I really liked the last story of Cecily and Spencer. Both stubborn and hot headed but they finally take the time to listen to each other! Lady Snaresbrook was wonderful!
Thank you for the advanced copy and for the trip back to Castle Keyvnor!
Beguiled at the Wedding is a collection of stories by Jane Charles, Virginia Heath, and Deb Marlowe.
“Miss Penneck and the Pixies Poem” by Deb Marlowe is a delightful tale of heartache and romance with a dash of pixie dust on the side. I would give this story 4 stars.
“A Spirited Courtship” by Jane Charles
This book is really funny. I loved Diana and Lord Somerton’s romance. I would give this one a solid 5 stars.
“Written In The Stars” by Virginia Heath is a charming story about romance, heartbreak, and second chances. I can’t wait to read more by Heath. I give this story a solid 5 stars. I was given a copy of this compilation of books.
It’s always at good time at Castle Keyvnor. There is going to be a wedding and the ghosts, pixies and fairies are in rare form. There are three stories about love found during the wedding festivities. Loved them. Good stories.
Pixies, Ghosts and Celestial Beings.
Enjoyable reads set around Castle Keyvnor and Bocka Morrow, where magic happens!
Miss Penneck and the Pixie’s Poem by Deb Marlowe – a charming pixie story. Puff struggles to harness her magic but on learning to read with the young master of Keyvnor Castle she comes to adore books and write and tell her own stories. This is to be her key to saving young love.
(Note: I did feel it was a shame that we didn’t see or hear about the villains being prosecuted at the end of the story but that is a minor bugbear.)
A Spirited Courtship by Jane Charles
Three highly irritating ghosts, plague star crossed lovers, James and Diana. To gain their freedom the ghosts have to get James and Diana together but their task is beset with problems and time is running out.
Written in the Stars by Virginia Heath
A spoke was put into the romance of Spencer and Cecily and they have been apart for five years but the deadline for the birth of their first child is looming and Serendipity is tasked with ensuring that they get back together, so that celestial plans do not go awry.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from one of the authors. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Deb Marlowe’s Miss Penneck & the Pixie’s Poem 4 stars

There’s Puff,a Pixie in her shop, her father is obsessed with the notion of her deceased mother returning to visit, and the handsome printer’s enemies have made her a target. A dandelion strewing pixie who’s learned to read & write & who now writes poetry, a woman with a love of books & a printer wanting a better life for the less well off made this a charming, captivating novells which made me smile & lifted my mood

A lovely novella that I read in a sitting, it was heart warming & oh those ghosts had me laughing out loud at times – they were priceless. Rumours coloured Diana’s thoughts & it took time for her to believe they were only rumours. Lovely characters & a well paced story had me enthralled
Virginia Heath’s Written in the Stars 5 Stars

I read this beautifully written novella with a permanent smile on my face, oh how I love an interfering older woman, Lady Snaresbrook is priceless. Misunderstandings abound as do sayings, which all added to this delightful read.
Three short stories to brighten your day & enjoyably pass a few hours. I loved all three
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
All three stories were full of the mystical and love, and at points made me cry.
Miss Penneck and the Pixie’s Poem – Deb Marlowe – Lowenna was kind and quite willing to help Ruan. He was glad for the assistance but very protective of Lowenna and her livelihood. They attraction was instant and sweet. The Pixie was also a sweet and interesting character as she figured out her own purpose in life.
A Spirited Courtship – Jane Charles – This story had me in tears several times. It was a second-chance/reunion at love story for Diana and James. Both were wonderful characters and quite willing to help out some ghosts end their torturous eternity. The ghosts were annoying but very much touched my heart.
Written in the Stars – Virginia Heath – Another second-chance story/reunion story. This story had divine intervention, Pixies, ghosts, and magic. Cecily was strong as she tried to improve her situation despite all her bad luck. Spencer was a broken man and was more than willing to work out the issues.
I recommend this collection and look forward to reading Books 1 and 3.
I received an ARC of this collection, and this is my unsolicited review.
