A Paranormal Women’s Fiction with a bit of class, and a lot of sass, for anyone who feels like age is just a number!Newly indoctrinated witch, Defiance Dayne, discovers there’s more to life after forty than she’d ever imagined possible. Especially if one is a charmling, one of only three in the world, with enough magics to make her a target for every power-hungry warlock out there. When one of … there. When one of them sends a hunter to town, she knows it’s time to take her talents seriously before the hunter takes her life.
She decides she has three things to do before she can die. Find out who killed her beloved grandmother, teach her BFF the finer points of spellcasting before she blows up the world, and figure out how serious her relationship with the Adonis living in her basement really is. If it’s heading in the direction she’s hoping for, she can die happy. Though, admittedly, she’d rather not. Die. Happy or otherwise.
None of that will matter, however, if she can’t figure out how to foil the supernatural assassin who’s been sent for her. Until then, it’s business—and hopefully romance—as usual. Now if she can only figure out how to tame a lacuna wolf.

OH MY STARS, BEGUILED, THE THIRD BETWIXT AND BETWEEN STORY IS A UNPUTDOWNABLE AND WICKEDLY FUN AND CRAZY ENTERTAINING FILLED TO THE TIPPY TOP WITH SURPRISES, LAUGH OUT LOUD MOMENTS, SENSUAL TORMENT AND THE KIND OF BANTER THAT PUTS AN INSTANT SMILE ON YOUR FACE! BASICALLY ITS EVERYTHING AMAZING AND SO MUCH MORE!
I ADORE Darynda Jones’s amazing writing skills. Beguiled was SO GOOD and INCREDIBLE and A TON OF FUN too. Learning the depth of Defiance’s charmling powers is not just fascinating but thrilling too. And then I get a twist that made me squeal with excitement the moment its revealed and left me even more excited than I was to begin with. This world is magical, entertaining, brilliant and the characters from sexy shifter Roane all the way down to Mr. Shoemaker make them feel like friends that I have known for years. They made me laugh and feel and I love each and every one of them. This story is magic pure and simple. Its the kind of story that you will want to dive in again and again and never tire of. I want to say more, I REALLY do, but I DO NOT want to give ANYTHING away so I will leave it at this…if you are looking for a magical good time with mystery, humor and sexy times and a nice dose of surprises, you don’t want to miss this addicting series!
Beguiled gets a MAGICALLY DELICIOUS FIVE SPARKLING STARS!
Another winner in my book! Love the depth and emotion and details she puts into the backbone of her stories and the complexity of her characters always amazes me. By the end you feel like you truly know them and are invested in their lives. Loved every minute and the narrator is phenomenal.
I can always count on a Darynda Jones book to put me in a good mood. This one didn’t disappoint.
One of the better “paranormal women’s fiction” series. The characters are enjoyable, there’s plenty of humor, and the action keeps the story moving.

Defiance “Deph” Dayne is a charmling. What’s a charmling you ask? Um, a super powered witch, I guess? In any case, charmlings are special and there are only three of them in the world at any given time. Deph seems to be extra super powered, but what does she know? Nothing because she only just found out she is one and at age 44 to boot. Learning this stuff on the fly is proving very trying for Deph, but at least she has help from her motley crew. Now, she just needs to be ready for the storm that’s coming. And maybe she could jump the bones of the hot wolf shifter in the basement? Pretty please? Nom nom nom!
This series is cruising right along with villains, magic, nommy hotness, humor, and mystery. Deph can be a tad bit annoying, but for the most part she’s humorous. Annette is a great best friend. Better than I would be after Deph altered my state of being. Roane is all hotness. Nom! In all honesty, I like all of Deph’s crew. The villains are a bit doofus-y though. But the longer I think about it, I believe this tale is meant to be more light entertainment than serious my-ass-is-in-mortal-danger type of stuff. Oh, there’s danger. However, it’s not pushing me to the edge of my seat. If that makes sense. Anyway, I’m enjoying this series as a getaway from real life trials and tribulations and that’s all that matters, right?
Defiance is back at it, and now she’s got even more mysterious things happening in her world.
Seriously, I love the interactions between the different characters, the plot and storyline. When you want to forget life, go into a flip side, and truly lose yourself in a good tale, pick up one of these books.
This was another overwhelming story. I did enjoy parts, but just too much going on, no real answers or depth, just flitting from one dramatic situation to the next. This is the last for me
Look. Let’s be real here. I don’t think I can possibly say enough good things about Beguiled, the third title in the Betwixt & Between series, without sounding like a possessed fangirl. But… wow, what an adventure this story was from start to finish. And the added good news is that we really are not finished as Annette will take over the focus and the spotlight in the next story, Moonlight and Magic. I’m in book reader’s heaven right now.
There is a lot going on in Beguiled, not only for Defiance and Roane as they work out exactly what their relationship is – well, Roane wants forever, Defiance isn’t sure she can do forever again and that back and forth is obvious throughout this third story. I do have to admit though, wolf shifter in a kilt? Yeah, it wouldn’t take me long to say yes, just sayin’. There is still trouble brewing for all of our well-known by now residents of Percy’s house and it’s about to come to a head with danger, threats, and surprises at every turn.
I really don’t think I can have just one favorite character from this series. Of course, I loathe the bad guys, but between Defiance, Annette, Roane, the two dads, Gigi, and always Percy it’s this group that blended so well together as a family, a unit in a way that makes this a series that I will re-read as I await the next story. The ending of Beguiled took me by surprise. Maybe it shouldn’t have, but it did. (when reading cozy mysteries I don’t try to figure out whodunit so… that’s my only excuse) But – wow – what an ending it is. And, nope, not going to spoil it for anyone. Just wait for it, this one will be your favorite in this series so far because of those final chapters.
In all, I had an absolute blast with Beguiled and every single character (even the bad guys frankly). It’s engaging, keeps me guessing with twists, turns, red herrings, and laughter (sometimes unintended perhaps). I will say, in my opinion, this is a series that needs to be read from the first story onwards for what you know and learn builds on what happened previously. I suppose you “could” read it out of order, but you’ll get more and feel like you’re within this world if you can read it in order.
If you love Paranormal Women’s Fiction then Beguiled, and the Betwixt & Between series need to be on your to-read now list.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Wow!! Loving this series and all the characters, the suspense and surprises along with the cliff hanger are great, can not wait for the next installment.
a little bit of this a little bit of that I totally enjoyed reading this totally in keep with the first two books in this series and Nettee Noo who would have thunk it a bit like her real life counter part totally rocks it lol
I love all the characters in this series with all their various shades of grey.
Looking forward to book 4 😀
