What’s better than a second chance romance, nothing when it comes to Chloe Lake & Owen Salt.
Chloe Salt is a woman who has been in the spotlight for most of her life, she has gone through her struggles but now she is a woman on a mission, to save and advocate for the rights of animals. She is also known as “The Bachelorette of New York City” but when the one man who you thought was going to be your forever comes home she finds herself and her life shifted.
Owen Salt is a man who has made a success of himself, becoming a lawyer, by proving to himself that he can be the man his grandfather always knew he could be but the one person he wanted to be more for was Chloe and he is on a mission to make her understand why he did what he did not only for himself but for her too.
The chemistry between these two has always be dynamite and even after all this time they realize it is still there, but can two people get past all the hurt and come together to find that HEA that is what we hope for this Fantastic Couple.
Chloe and Owen are a romantic and passionate couple, and I am so glad that Jennifer Probst has revisited their relationship in her new book, “Begin Again.” What a sweet, tender and dreamy love story of a young man who returned home to win back the only girl he had ever loved. Owen’s reasons for leaving Chloe were important to him, even if it appeared that he didn’t care for her anymore. Chloe was his first love and he wants to be her last. He had grown up, worked hard and his mission was to beg for her forgiveness and show her that she will always be the most important person in his life. Chloe was heartbroken when Owen left, and all she had were the memories of their time at the rescue farm. They were strangers when they arrived at the farm, and they became friends as they helped find forever homes for the precious animals. Their friendship was important to both of them and they were surprised when it became more. Now that Owen had returned, Chloe had a decision to make. She loved her job and was happy with her life, but Owen was a distraction that she didn’t anticipate. Will her heart dictate her future or will she be too afraid to love him again?
I received an ARC for an honest opinion.
This was a beautiful second chance love story, and a wonderful way to end this series. I loved all of these characters and their stories. I definitely recommend this book, series, and author.
Second chance at love for Chloe and Owen. They met at the rescue farm several years ago and fell in love. Owen didn’t ever feel equal to Chloe and felt he needed to go away to become the man she deserved. The way he left broke Chloe’s heart. He didn’t explain himself. Now he’s back and the lawyer paired up with Chloe on an animal abuse case. Can he win her back? He sees that she still loves him as he loves her. He hopes that he can explain himself and break down her walls. I loved getting to see everyone at the farm and all the animals especially Hei Hei who doesn’t like Owen and tries to attack him. I love this series so much and I’m glad I was given an ARC to be able to read the book early. I have my own copy ordered. I’m leaving my honest review.
This was just a great big sigh waiting to happen! A second chance between a grown up Chloe Lake who has just been dubbed NYC Most Eligible Bachelorette and Owen Salt, the one who left and never contacted her again. Chloe works for a rescue and in walks their newest legal advisor, Owen. He is back…for her. He is now a lawyer and working for an Animal Defense firm but is he too late. We also get to see all the gang from the farm upstate and don’t forget Hei-Hei who makes a cameo attack. Definitely good for the soul and the perfect way to wrap up the series! This one could be read as a standalone if chosen…
I positively adore this book! This was just the absolute best way to wrap up this series! So many happy couples! I was thrilled when I saw that we would be getting adult Chloe’s story and get to see what she has been up to. We also get a nice check in with the other couples out at Bishop’s Farm, YAY!, and of course Hei Hei! Chloe is such an amazing woman! She is a rock star in the animal rescue/welfare world and that made me love her more! Owen returns to NYC in the same field- if that’s not fate stepping in I don’t know what is! He lays all his cards on the table with Chloe. I love that he is so honest and forthright about what he wants and why he came back! Totally made me swoon! This is Owen and Chloe’s second chance and they definitely don’t waste it! I love them together so much!! Perfect light read with a wonderful HEA!!!
I absolutely loved Begin Again by Jennifer Probst, the final novella in her Stay series, it is an incredible love story. I have always enjoyed the other books that I have read by Jennifer Probst and really enjoy her wonderfully written stories. Jennifer Probst has once again shown that she is an amazing storyteller. I could not put it down. I loved every page. I really enjoy how the book is told from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. Begin Again is wonderful love story and is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I love the lighter moments where I find myself smiling and laughing out loud and the bittersweet moments that cause me to sigh, say aww to myself with tears filling my eyes. Begin Again is filled with such moments, and with so much emotion. It is filled with all those things that we have come to love and expect in a love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Who doesn’t love a second chance at first love story? Begin Again is the story of Chloe Lake, advocate for animal welfare and daughter of the governor of New York, and Owen Salt, her first love. Chloe has recently been crowned the Bachelorette of New York City. Chloe and Owen met while Owen was doing community service at the Bishop horse rescue farm. After graduating from college, Owen heads to California and breaks things off with Chloe. While he was away, Owen earned his law degree and became the man his grandfather and Chloe could be proud of. Owen works for the Defense Fund, and has decided to head home to New York and work with Advocates for Animals on a civil case against animal hoarders. Chloe is shocked when Owen enters the office as the lawyer working the case. Chloe is dating someone, Drew Dinkle who her father approves of and thinks is the right man for her. After attending a fundraiser with Drew, Chloe realizes that he is not the one for her. I love the plot twists that transpire involving Chloe, Owen and Drew. Mia and Ethan’s daughter, Evie is celebrating her first birthday. Jonathan, Alyssa, Chloe and Owen are heading to Gardiner, NY in the Hudson Valley for the celebration. Chloe and Owen are back where it all started. While horseback riding, Chloe and Owen have a heart-to-heart conversation where Owen tells Chloe the real reason that he went to California. I love that their relationship changed in the same place that it began. Then another plot twist has them discussing Owen’s future and whether or not he needs a career change. I love how Owen changes to become the man who he believes is worthy of Chloe, and he never stopped loving her. I love all the descriptions of the Hudson Valley setting that Jennifer Probst details, it makes me want to visit. My favorite part of the book is the epilogue I truly love how it goes above and beyond the happily ever after, and how Chloe takes matters into her own hand. Begin Again is filled with the poignant and bittersweet moments in the story as well as the plot twists, that I have come to love and expect in Jennifer Probst’s stories. I love the cast of characters in Begin Again it felt like a family reunion catching up with the all the Bishops and all their good news. Who doesn’t love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? I thoroughly enjoyed Begin Again; I highly recommend this wonderful second chance at first love romance.
**Disclaimer: I was provided an advance reader copy by the author in exchange for my unbiased review and opinions.**
Begin Again is a heartwarming novella about some secondary characters from the Stay series. It can be read as a stand-alone, although “seeing” some familiar faces is always a thrill.
We first meet Chloe and Owen in the Stay series, as two teenage trouble makers sentenced to help at the horse ranch. For Owen, it was love at first sight…while Chloe saw him as a brother due to her being a couple of years older. ( Raise your hand if you’ve done this, only to find that teenage boy year later… all grown up and hot as hell)
When we meet them at Begin Again, they are young adults navigating their worlds on their own, for the first time. Owen is back in the city and Chloe doesn’t know how to react..after all, he’s the boy that broke her heart. But they have just too much in common and that love never went away. Owen is playing for keeps, but can he convince Chloe to at least listen to him?
I really enjoyed Chloe and Owen’s story. The writing was flawless and the story engaging. Being a novella you would think there’s not enough for a well-crafted story, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Heart and heat, re-learning each other and even a monkey-wrench or two is you can expect from Begin Again. Definitely recommend reading the other Stay series books as you might enjoy the inside jokes and nuances as much. Regardless of how you decide to engage with this book, I definitely recommend it. Five stars for Chloe and Owen’s second chance!
One thing about Bishop Farms is not just a farm but one of magic. We have Chloe, who from previous book we saw a troubled teenager grow into a beautiful, smart and intelligent woman. The thing is that we see more of her now and still he is Owen’s true love even now. Two troubled teenagers learning to deal with what they and now two adults learning to love once again. I loved that we see Chloe as a grown woman feels like a sister we saw grow up and now Owen being the right man for her. This is one novella that just feels right in this series and seeing Chloe as she is now was beautiful.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
A second chance romance in the beloved Stay series. I’ve only read book three and now this novella. You’ll meet Chloe and Owen in the previous books, but not necessary to read them before this one to get an understanding of them. These two have a past and we’re both left heartbroken. Now will they have a future? Or was the damage that was done be enough to stop them from taking the leap. I love how these two have such a love for animals. And how they are the voice for the abused and neglected ones. Just like the rest of their friends and family at the Bishop farm. They all have that in common. And the use of Disney characters as names for the animals is so cute. Gus Gus is a new addition that will melt your heart. Follow along on the journey of second chances to find out if Chloe and Owen can love each other again.
Oh how I loved this book! I’m so glad there was closure with these two, and loved the way Owen came back into the picture as the new attorney. The farm gang was all present, probably my favorite part in the book, and I honestly laughed out loud when Hei-Hei saw Owen. Disliked Drew immensely, and Alyssa was pretty funny handling Jonathan. Overall, a very well-written book by an incredible author that is a very quick read and keeps you very entertained. Truly love all of the characters in this series, hate to see it end.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book
