I am a liar. My words were poison and everything I touched got filthy. Except Iris. She was the best part of who I was. The only bright spark in my dull, gray world. But denial made me stupid and a cruel insult destroyed everything I hoped to have with the girl of my dreams. Now I will crawl on my knees and grovel because sometimes, even rock Gods have to beg.
Thank God for this being a bundle; I don’t think that I’d have the patience to wait for the next book!
It was good to see how the whole Dash Justice persona was born; I felt a little bad for Jamie because of it (I’m still mad about what he did). Iris has gone off the grid, so we don’t get to see much of her in the first chapters.
This book is all about redemption, forgiveness, family and making amends. We get to see Jamie’s journey to redeem himself and make the one woman he truly loves forgive him. Let me tell you, it’s not an easy task and the book’s title it’s pretty accurate about what he has to do in order to succeed!
With his actions he slowly made me want to give him a chance. It’s rarely when I feel that a character doesn’t deserve the redemption. I believe that whoever read the first book can relate.
The book was amazing and highlighted the meaning of family, forgiveness and second chances.
Beg is book 2 in the God of Rock duet. Not a standalone as you do need to read Kneel first. Beg picks up Iris and Jamie’s story. But where Kneel was mainly from Iris’s POV, Beg gives us insight from Jamie as he realizes what colossal mistakes he has made!
“If anyone knew about mistakes, it was me, so I did what I could. I did what I hoped would be done for me one day. I needed to put the past to bed.”
I was so angry with Jamie after reading Kneel and did not want myself OR Iris to forgive him! Getting his POV was great and it really helped me connect with and understand his character more.
My only complaint was that I really wanted more of Iris in this book. She is such an awesome character, so strong and resilient!
“Strong women were something I had to get used to, but once I did I’d discovered I’d liked them a lot.”
I’m a huge fan of Eden Butler’s writing. She paints a picture of the story with her words! I can’t wait to read more!
4.5 Stars!!
After reading Kneel, I wasn’t sure if Eden Butler could do it – could she redeem Jamie/ Dash, or would Iris always have a deep seated anger toward him. Watching the characters evolve and become more than we expected was amazing. I may have had a slight tear in my eye at the end. Definitely well worth the wait!!!
This read was a perfect conclusion to kneel with so much emotion…… you’ll have all the feels when you’re done! I LOVED every page I read from beginning to end and with every bit of frustration, tears and laughs I just couldn’t put it down. You will fall in love with Jamie and Iris’s story because they will show you know matter the ups and downs that your once in a lifetime love is worth fighting for. How do you know when you have found your “ONE”, the person that feels like “HOME” ……”Your head guides you; your heart recognizes it”….. words to live by! Such a heartfelt roller-coaster ride you definitely want to be on no matter the twists and turns.
In this second book of the God of Rock series the story continues for Iris and Jamie. Jamie realizes too late that he destroyed the one woman who has always been there for him. She was his rock and she never did anything to hurt him intentionally unlike him. He will do anything to get her back even if means he has to beg. While he tries to come to terms with his father and mother, he fights against his record label as he fights to find himself again and be the man worthy of Iris again. Wow! What a great book. I loved this story so much, it broke my heart. I love how Iris and Jamie fit together. This is a must read book with characters that will stay with you well after you close this book.
A fitting conclusion you’ll be Begging to read!
Eden Butler’s God of Rock duet has had me hooked ever since I first heard about it and after I read Kneel last year I was so keen for Beg and to discover if the arrogant, selfish, self-loathing Jamie Vega (aka Dash Justice) could ever be redeemed. And it’s safe to say, Eden has not disappointed me with this story.
Jamie and his forever love Iris have battled so many odds and I really did wonder if she’d ever forgive Jamie after the stunt he pulled at the end of Beg. And you’ll spend a lot of this book wondering if Jamie even deserves to be forgiven. This rock god is a now a shadow of his former self, ruined right down to his soul thanks to some misinterpretation and his pompous need to be right. I can’t say too much more about all that because I don’t want to spoil Kneel (which you MUST read first!) but I do feel that Jamie shows a lot of his true self in this book and I’m so glad it was written entirely from his POV.
“Something I was scared could easily slip through my fingers, but I’d never felt anything as sure, nothing that seemed so wholly mine as her.”
Iris and Jamie’s love story is pretty epic and my only complaint- and what has stopped me from giving it 5 nicandbooks hearts – is that I felt like their story was over before it could truly begin. And that’s ok… in the context of this story, it makes sense. But the romantic in me wanted a little more romance lol. In saying that, Beg is a novel worthy of your time and attention. If only to see that Eden Butler is a master of words (and lyrics ) and her ability to make me fall in love with a man I pretty much despised at the end of the previous book is testament to her talent.
I’m sad it’s over, but I’m so glad I went on the journey with Iris and Jamie. It was one spectacular show
