Aric Prince is an All-American high school football star with a body built like a Greek god and hair so beautiful he could sell shampoo by the boatloads. The only problem is that Aric’s also a rich, arrogant, and gigantic prick. Nothing but filth and insults come out of his smirking mouth, constantly reminding me that poor, trailer park trash girls like myself don’t belong in his pretentious … pretentious academy.
Aric and his best friends all think they’re untouchable.
But the cocky bastard is finally going down this year.
I’ve hit the motherload of blackmail on the jerk, pun intended, and I can’t wait to give him exactly what he deserves.
Aric Prince’s reign at the academy is coming to an end.
Before I’m done with him, he’ll be on his knees, begging for mercy.

Even though this is a high school romance it didn’t feel juvenile. Aric and Maddie’s journey from enemies to friends to lovers was sad and fun and hot to read. Aric goes from arrogant prick to supportive boyfriend. Maddie transforms from strong and guarded to accepting help from others.

MERCY!
A fierce unstoppable read that I absolutely love to hate just like the storyline that played out in this amazing read that hate plays mercy for love or does it. With this being the start to this new series I can’t wait to see what is in store for the future couples and how in the heck their stories could possibly surpass this one that kept me glue to pages of this fantastic read.
A school bully romance that really surprised me. Aric starts bullying Maddie (FMC) mainly because of her lack of money and where she lives. What starts off as a game of wills between them progresses to friendship and then something else. When the books main characters become friends thats when the book get more interesting for me. Aric was more of a decent and caring character then. I loved that. A rough start but a lovely ending. A joy to read and i cant wait to find out what happens in the other books
Sometimes that really hot rich guy at school is just such an arrogant jerkwad, you can’t help but jump at the chance to knock him down a peg or two. So when Maddie, smart girl from the wrong side of town, catches said arrogant jerkwad in a comprising position, she takes some pictures & videos and uses it to her advantage. What could be better then blackmailing the rich bully, and getting some help out of? Maddie’s life is not easy, but she’s tough and brave and stubborn and does what she has to. Aric (the jerkwad), at first is his mean self, just going along to make sure she doesn’t put his secret. But after awhile, he starts to change, sees what her life is really like, and starts becoming a better person. What will happen in the end? You have to read to find out. Thoroughly enjoyed this!!
Really enjoyed the author’s version of a bully to lover romance. Lane Hart continues to be in my top 5 favorite authors.

There is a fine line between hate and love. Maddie is excited to be able to attend the prestigious and exclusive Mercy Academy on a full scholarship until she meets The Royals, especially the “head” Royal, Aric Prince. Aric is a talented, quarterback golden boy who lets Maddie know in no uncertain terms that she is lower than the bottom of the social status and is also game for anyone who wants to taunt or gossip about her. When Maddie sees Aric in a very compromising situation, she does what any smart, conniving girl would do…she takes pictures and videos to use to blackmail him. When she starts getting Aric to do whatever she wants with the threat of exposing his secret, we see that fine line between their hate towards each other begin to blur into something starting to resemble love. Maddie finds that Aric is not what she always thought he was, conceited and entitled and Aric begins to see the “real” Maddie that she hides from everyone which is a strong woman with a huge secret that she never trusts to show. There are future books in this series so I hope to see more glimpses of Maddie and Aric to see how they progress.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
This is a story that touches your heart and fills in all the cracks and fissures that are caused by life. The feeling of abandonment, hopelessness, need and grief seep thru the pages. The sheer selfishness of Maddie’s parents makes you want to hunt them down and cause bodily harm. I cried. I laughed. I cheered. I felt for all the characters in this book. This story makes you want to be a better person.

Loved this high school bully romance with a twist.
Maddie finds out a secret that her high school bully, Arik, really wants kept secret and now she’s got him right where she wants him. Only Maddie also has a secret and she busts her booty to keep it hidden. This is a great high school bully romance with a twist and I highly recommend it!

They come from opposite sides of the track and Aric lets Maddie know that she and her kind are not welcomed at his school. He is the epitome of hot and a bully to say the least. When Maddie catches him in a compromising position, the tables are turned. This high school drama has you thinking back to yester years and the writing is so well scripted you feel like you are right there along with the characters as the story unravels before you.

Wow! Not at all what I was expecting!!!
From the moment Maddie and Aric meet they are at each other’s throats. Aric, one of the entitled, is rude and obnoxious towards Maddie until she discovers a not so little secret and the tables are turned. Now she’s the one in charge and she’s taking full advantage of it.
Maddie is a complicated character. She’s a bit of innocence mixed in with street smarts as well as academically intelligent. Her life has led her into situations that no teenager should have to face. Her devotion to her siblings was admirable and garnered all my respect. She has some struggles with believing she could ever fit into Aric’s world.
‘God, why did he have to come by and remind me yet again that we don’t live in the same world. His is all clean, rich and perfect while I’m dirty, poor and a complete disaster.’
Aric, while being rich, is trying to live up to his father’s expectations. When Maddie presents her blackmail evidence, he has no choice but to bend to her authority. And while he initially does so with resentment, it soon becomes apparent that he wants more from her than their standing agreement. He was extremely protective of her and while not a raging alpha, there was enough there to give him that edge that I love.
‘I just really … wish I knew how the hell to stop being the guy Maddie hates.’
This is a fast paced read, a little low on the smexy times but what is included was absolutely sizzling. There is a bit of angst within their relationship and it had all the feels of teenage love and separation. Is some of this a bit unbelievable? Yes, but I didn’t care. I just loved watching these two characters from different worlds find a place where they could be together and make it work.
This was a great read that I was hooked on once I started reading it. Aric and Maddie took me on an emotional roller coaster of a read that I could not get enough of. Their story moved along well and left me anxious to see how the next book in the series.
Yay for no triggers! There were some dark moments but nothing I need to speak to my therapist about.
The pace was great, the steamy scenes were awesome (albeit near the end), there was heart , family and redemption. I am excited for the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Ok first I have to say how much I loved this story. I will have to keep an eye out for the next story. Aric is the high school jock who is rich and a bully. He is supposed to show Maddie around school because she came in on a scholarship. Maddie is poor and is responsible to take care of her younger brother and sister. She lives in a trailer and she has to do some comprising stuff to earn money to pay for their rent and bills. It isn’t until she sees Aric and his best friends mother going at it in her vehicle and she videos it. She uses that video to blackmail him.
Wow, I dived straight in with this book not not knowing anything about the story. I was hooked from the first page. The relationship started with hate but ending with love and so much more. A fantastic read, I cant wait for Blake and Royal’s book.

5*
Maddie is on a scholarship at Mercy academy & meets Aric on her first day.
Aric’s rude greeting has her determined to prove him wrong making a bet with him for his car when she wins the highest student award.
I loved the strong determined character of Maddie her protective nature & take no nonsense attitude.
Aric, Blake & Royal are the rich hotties who lord around the school but are certainly going to meet their matches.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Blake & Royal now.

Book one in the Mercy Academy series. Can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone. This is a high school bully romance told in dual POV with a HEA. I wasn’t sure I wanted to read this book because I’ve been out of high school for a LONG time and I thought it would be a lot of drama and angst. I am so glad I took a chance and read it because it was so good, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Each book will be about a different bully from Mercy Academy and the secondary characters will be the same throughout the series. After spending reluctant time together Aric and Maddie develop an unexpected friendship as they get to know more about one another. Great story!
Omg!!! I am in love with Aric and Maddie. Actually all the characters are amazing. I had to think about it before I could write this review. So beautifully written and heartbreaking at the same time. The struggles Maddie and her siblings had to go through and the fairytale hea they ended up with. Can’t wait for the next book
This story was sweet and romantic. It had a little bullying at the beginning, but not enough for my taste. But was still a good book. I wouldn’t mind hearing more or reading a book about Royal and Hanna.i enjoyed the story and would recommend to friends!

Beg For Mercy by L.A. Hart a five-star read that will school you in the best way possible. This is number one in the Mercy series and what a start, I need the next novel now!!! This was toe-curlingly good, Aric was so close to becoming my new favourite male lead, it’s was so close, but I had a Trick up my sleeve and what a Trick. Lane Hart is one of those authors I would read anything by, and the Mercy series is definitely going to be a new favourite. Maddie blew me away, she was lit with an inner light that just kept her so strong, she showed true strength and resilience her character made me have all the feels as well as some full body chills at the same time, I loved how she was so amazing on the surface, but truly you barely scratched it until you got under it properly. Aric, well it’s fair to say he annoyed the pants off me at first, but he soon had them coming off for other reasons.
Lane Hart is quickly proving that she can write any genre/ trope of books!!
I’ve read a couple of her reverse harem books, sports romance (MMA and football), MC romance series and now a HS bully romance!!
I was immediately hooked to this story/book especially the slow buildup! I honestly love all the stories that I’ve had the chance to read by Ms. Hart, but I think the bully romance genre is an automatic favorite of mine! Which is why when I saw that she was writing a HS bully romance book, I knew I had to read it. I love the characters Aric and Maddie! As well as Blake and Royal which I’m very curious about them and can’t wait for their stories!! If you’re a huge fan of HS bully romance books, you will not be disappointed!!
