A woman desperate to escape her past. A disgraced vampire ready to prove he isn’t a monster, if only to himself. An encounter that will set their lives down a path neither were prepared to travel.I’m Sydney Bryant, a loner and waitress at a vampire-themed nightclub. I’ve finally broken free from my past, but I can’t ignore the feeling deep in my bones that says something bad is coming for me. … coming for me.
From the moment Stellan first walked into Club Dead, I was intrigued by him. He’s tall, dark, and brooding with a hint of danger and an intoxicating scent that makes me want to abandon my inhibitions and see what kind of excitement the alluring vampire might bring to my life.
When I reluctantly agree to meet with someone from my past, the evil I knew was coming for me finally arrives, and I’m shocked to find Stellan as part of the group determined to steal me away.
But things aren’t always as they seem, and it isn’t long before the undeniable attraction between us ignites as he whispers promises that threaten to tear down the wall I’ve built around my heart.

I’m Stellan, a recovering blood addict who has been sent by the vampire king of Velum Mortis to intercept the abduction of the cute waitress from Club Dead and deliver her to him instead of the wolves who have been stalking her.
But once I have Sydney close, I can’t deny the pull she has over me, and I refuse to hand her over to the king, determined to find out if the intensifying feelings I have for her means she’s my mate. But if she is, why haven’t I felt her presence before now? And why would fate pair me with someone who is something more than human?
I can give her everything she’s ever wanted and more if she’ll just take a leap of faith and trust me. But how can she ever move beyond the horrors of her past to realize she’s worthy of the epic love she’s always dreamed of?
Brave the calm Before the Storm to find out whether our pairing has been written in the stars all along or if we’re truly doomed to crash and burn today!
Before the Storm is an adult vampire romance. It contains mature content, adult language, and violence. There are no detailed descriptions of abuse, but readers should know that it is touched upon as part of Sydney’s backstory. Though this is the second book in the Vampires of Velum Mortis series, it can be read as a standalone.

Into the Storm by Stephanie Summers is an awesome story that I have read. This is book number two in this awesome series that I have fallen in love with. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about shifters and vampires.

First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also this author is new to me, and I hope it won’t be my last.
OMG!!! This story is gr8. I felt so bad for Sydney. What an awful life she’d led. She trusts no one, and I don’t blame her. Then she meets Stellan, and can’t figure out why she’s so attracted to him. This story has so many twists. I loved it and couldn’t put it down. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
I enjoyed this paranormal romance very much. It picks up five years after book one of the series and focuses on a different couple. Stellan is on a mission from King Liam – collect Sydney and bring her to Velum Mortis. He sets out intending to follow Liam’s orders but it becomes harder and harder to contemplate doing so because he’s becoming more and more convinced that she might be his mate. Sydney has had a difficult life and Stellan is hard to resist. No one has ever cared for her the way he seems to. Will she find her happy ever after with him?
The writing is great. I really cared about the characters. The genesis of vampires as explained in this book, is entirely new and original to any other vampire mythology I have read before. There’s action, danger, and hot romance in this book. I can’t wait to read more!
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
Stephanie Summers’ Into the Storm (Vampires of Velum Mortis Book 2) is powerfully delicious in its world-building, it’s overall plot, it’s adventure and, most importantly, it’s romance. This is actually a pretty darn powerful story and it’s leads Sydney and Stellan, are wonderfully complex and perfectly crafted. It’s also a tale that’s tons of fun. Pretty neat combination in my opinion. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
This book started off great & kept going…..impressed with author’s maturation & improvement with the storyline; highly recommended
Received this little gem of an ARC for my honest opinion and review. HAPPY READING!!
This is the second book in the series. This book can be either read as part of the series or as a stand alone book. I would recommend reading the first book before reading this book though. To get some background information on certain characters. I loved how Sydney felt that she was unable to deserve love due to her broken childhood and her messed up past due to her mother. Stellan is just the person to break through Sydney’s walls and teach her how to live since she is his mate. Together the over come many challenges and also an unbreakable love after they face the challenges. If you would like to read this book please feel free to do go. Stephanie Summers is a great writer and I have read majority of her books so far and loved each of the ones that I have read.
