I fell so in love with Corbin. Vivian is the sweetest. Simply an amazing book.
Wow!
Yet another fab read by KD Robichaux! This book had me hooked from page one! Vi and Corbin are just adorable. I will say I never expected that ending not in a million years. I need book 2 now!
One thing I have come to like about this author is that the stories are based on unusual subjects. This book was rock climbing. I can’t say I have read a story based on rock climbing before, so it was really refreshing to read.
I can’t wait to follow on with book 2 when it is released. I will be sitting waiting for it to hit my kindle on release day.
an interesting start to the story of the duet series. I couldn’t put it down I can’t wait to see how it ends in the next book. This is my first book from this author and I love it
I’m not sure how, but I totally missed this book! To begin with, I didn’t realize it was part of the Club Alias series, as I began reading Seven, and then following Brian and Clarice’s story. Now that I know, I absolutely had to go back to read Corbin’s story! And I’m totally glad I did! As told in the title, this book is part of a duet, and is only half of Corbin and Vi’s story. It details how they met, the beginnings of their relationship, and what happened to tear them apart. Book 2, Truth Revealed, is about their second chance, their HEA.
Vi is innocent. At the beginning, she is a senior in high school, just before graduation. She’s not had the easiest time of things, having been bullied in school. Fortunately, she has a strong support system in her family, and finds that she loves rock climbing. She builds her life around her enjoyment of the sport, and her family loves her enough to support her through that.
Corbin is a Marine. Stationed at the base near Vi’s home town, a chance meeting has him wandering into the place that Vi climbs at. Their’s is an instant connection, one that can’t be denied by either one of them. Their initial courtship is beautiful, absolutely perfect.
I’ve never seen an author handle a story this way. Most of the time, the “backstory” for a second chance romance is told through flashbacks or conversations between the characters. But after reading Before the Lie, I can understand why she did it this way. There was so much emotion, so much trust, so much pure love between Vi and Corbin, I don’t think it could have been properly conveyed any other way. I didn’t think there was any way that Vi and Corbin could be torn apart, but it happened. Their story, so far, has been so full of emotion, ups and downs, that I can’t wait to see what comes next.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I need to read more!!
I loved this story. I was pulled in from the first page until the last. I need the next boom NOW, but I have to wait as its not released yet.
The author describes the male character in so much detail that is so easy to see who she sees. Matthew Hosea is the prefect model to portray Corbin. I absolutely love him. He is Alpha through and through but more than that he is caring sweet.
Vi is a great character as well. The chemistry between Corbin and Vi is off the charts.
Overall, I did love the book. I’m not really sure if it was her young age or her extremely mousy personality the first part of the book. But Vi, in the beginning, really got on my nerves. Corbin I loved from the beginning. An alpha soldier through and through, but finds patience he didn’t know he possessed when it comes to Vi. Corbin and Vi are perfect together and I loved watching their relationship grow and blossom until the lie. Now I’m impatiently waiting for the conclusion, Truth Revealed! I’ve become a big fan of KD Robichaux’s writing.
Keep in mind, this is the first part of a duet. So, there is a cliffhanger.
