In Before Sunrise, Will Fortin of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is on patrol in southern Alberta. It’s a lonely region where the sky meets the land on even terms, where the landscape exaggerates or diminishes your place in the world. If you’re lucky, trouble would never find you there. If you weren’t, this was your battleground. This is where Fortin experiences the worst any cop can face, the … can face, the taking of innocent lives while under fire in responding to a violent call at a farm involving a gun. His life destroyed his guilt unbearable, Fortin, a good man, struggles as a haunted soul, aching to redeem himself.
Years after the shooting, Fortin is assigned to escort a murderer from a Canadian prison to trial in Seattle, Washington. When their plane crashes in the unforgiving Rocky Mountains, Fortin is presented with his last chance at redemption.
Before Sunrise is a powerful, heart-wrenching story of love, heartbreak, courage and enduring human spirit.

This book was as if I was there. All of Rick Mofina’s books are worth reading!
Very good book but I was hoping for a different ending.
Enjoyed the characters and the entwining of their lives as the story evolved. A quick read that kept my attention.
Moving. Tragic. Shows faith that things sometimes can happen for a reason.
This was one I couldn’t put down. It was well written. I wanted to know the characters and share their experiences. The ending was unexpected and sad. But heartwarming at the same time.
Enjoy the plot which is complex yet easy to follow.
Never know what to expect.
I like everything this author has written. Highly recommend his books.
Absolutely wonderful!!!! If I could give this a 10 I would!!!!!
There were 3 great stories about people’s lives which intertwined through out this book. Rick Motina is a great author and so clever. Must read!!!
Another wonderful thriller by Rick Mofina! His books never disappoint. This is the story of Will Fortin, a Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman, who has dedicated his life to his career. When a tragic and unavoidable event occurs while on a domestic call one night, Will’s life takes a devastating turn. Will is a good man, who is haunted by this incident. While escorting a murderer to Seattle, the plane Will is on crashes in the mountains in treacherous terrain. The rest of the escorts on the team are killed, and it is up to Will to stop the killer from escaping into the wilderness.
Interesting, kept me reading, great storyline and very satisfying ending!
The Weight of the World
Will, upstanding citizen, wanted to be a Canadian Royal Mountie for as long as he could remember. Goal oriented that he was, his steps taken and his accomplishments didn’t prepare him for the detail.
This book is different than the other books I have read by this author. For one thing, the book has a religious/redemption theme. The main character is a RCMP haunted by a domestic violence call gone wrong where everyone but one child ends up dead. The other main character is a former marine who witnesses a violent bank holdup. He later develops kidney disease and needs a transplant to survive. They intersect when the RCMP man is transporting a prisoner to stand trial in the bank holdup. The plane goes down in a storm and the prisoner and the RCMP man are the only survivors. The RCMP goes after the prisoner and aprehends him but is struck by a car driven by the former marine’s mother. He ends up in a coma. The hospital finds out the RCMP man is an organ donor and his kidney ends up in the former marine.
Excellent book about the Royal Canadian amounted Police. Excellent story line.
A little repetitive at times but satisfying.
Always love this author.
Made me really think about the games the mind plays and how it can affect our actions and our future lives. a little incite into police work and how hard their lives can become.
Poignant
A good read.
