What a great “can’t put this down” read! I experienced Christine’s frustrations, her anger, her persistence, and her heartbreak right along with her. I was so sure I had the “bad guy” figured out here, but, WOW! was I wrong. Christine’s amnesia is rare and seemingly incurable. It was exciting to read of her progress. I was a bit miffed at the …
This is about a women who has amnesia and can not remember anything after she goes to sleep. This book has a lot of twist and turns.
S.J. Watson’s BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP left me with decidedly mixed emotions.
On one hand, the premise–a protagonist who loses all short-term memories when she falls asleep and so must “catch up” every morning–captures the essence & attraction of the physiological thriller sub-genre. The book’s first act parlays this idea to perfection, building …
Wow. This book was amazing and gripping from beginning to end, the book definitely keeps you guessing about what’s real and what is not. I really felt bad for Christine and what she has to go through every day when she wakes up I kept hoping she would be able to retain her memory each time she woke instead of losing it every time she went to …
This is a fantastic novel, which I cant get enough of! Life in Christine’s view is arduous but I’m still a tween, so what can I say? Although I’m young, I make sure I read books that may even be to old for me. Books are a part of me (check my tag line) so I’m terribly happy I found this! In this book awaits a whole new world, now dive into that …
A rare face-meltingly-good book! The unreliable narrator is written perfectly, the story compelling and suspenseful, the writing crisp and clear. I was constantly guessing, constantly unseated and wondering what would happen next. I highly recommend if you haven’t read it!
I couldn’t figure out what was going to happen. So I just kept reading, I couldn’t stop.
Do not read this book before going to bed. Once I pick it up and start reading I have a hard time putting it down. Unexpected twists keep you wanting to keep reading.
3.8
Really struggled to finish this one, not because it was bad but because I already knew what was going to happen from previously seeing the movie. I feel like it almost put me in a reading slump as I had no motivation to finish it and didn’t want to start another until it was done. Also finding it hard to give this a fair rating, I think I …
Well-written with surprises around every page turn. The mystery elements were superbly written, though I found myself disliking the protagonist by the end.
If you like Tana French, you might want to give this author a try.
loved it
Enjoyable read….
Definitely fast-paced. I enjoyed the twists at the end, but it is a bit unbelievable. A lot of reviews complain that this type of amnesia doesn’t exist. Not sure on that part, but her memory loss seems to be convenient.
This debut novel involves a woman named Christine, who wakes up every morning in a mundane life without most of her memories. She doesn’t recall that she’s married, that she needs to write in a journal, or the doctor that’s apparently treating her. The premise is not original, since it’s been done many times in books and Hollywood movies, but the …
Enjoyable, hard to put down, not your typical scenario. With keep you guessing twists and turns and a didn’t see that coming ending.
This book was better than the movie—I know, you are shocked.
A different twist about a woman suffering from amnesia. Very suspenseful.
Very suspenseful with a conclusion that you won’t see coming.
Great book.
Real page-turner. I couldn’t put it down.
