When Addison Greyer, a happily married mother of three, decides to re-enter the workforce, she never once considers that taking a job might unravel everything she thinks to be true about her life—that it would cause her to look deep within and confront fears she didn’t know existed. She couldn’t have foreseen how a chance meeting or a single day can change the course of an entire lifetime.
Like … lifetime.
Like many women, Addison is defined in terms of marriage and motherhood, until she suddenly finds her life turned upside down by her husband’s decision to take a job thousands of miles away. When her tough-as-nails boss offers her an opportunity she can’t refuse, Addie is forced to make difficult choices. Those choices take her further and further out of the carefully crafted fairytale life she has created and lead her into an unknown world where things are anything but black and white: a world where she learns that desire is not only dangerous but deadly. In this world, all bets are off as she is forced to finally confront her past. As her past and present collide, she has to make decisions that for most are unthinkable, decisions that can tear her family apart, and perhaps even have fatal consequences.

I enjoyed the pace of this book. Great read. Loved that it ended like life. Left options open for a sequel.
A quick read!
Unsatisfactory ending
The plot is based on premises and actions that would never take place, ending also seems like the author died before finishing.
Wasn’t prepared to enjoy this book as much as I did. I am generally not a series reader, so it ended without ending, i.e. cliffhanger.
Very interesting story. I could not put the book down because I just wanted to know . I can not wait to pick up another one of her books .
Just a jumbled hodgepodge of poor writing and peripatetic editing. I abandoned it half way through. I seldom do that.
This book started out well and held my attention immediately. However, it began to drag when the plot became unbelievable. Too unpredictable to be realistic. The heroine of the story would not have survived the torture that was inflicted on her. The ending was set up to make you buy the next two books predicated on the fact that the perpetrator gets out on bail after having kidnapped and tortured the heroine which is totally rediculous. That being said, I will not purchase the other two books in the series series and am very glad that this first one was free.
Convaluted storyline. Author was trying to combine sex and mystery. Did not work. Abrupt ending. Didnt wrap up loose ends.
This book wasn’t bad but could use more plot development. I didn’t feel the chemistry between the two main characters.
Great read, however I felt that the end is either continued in another book, or that I missed something important. Hhhmm……
Enjoyed it and bought the other two. Crazy romance.
I do not normally submit reviews on books that were published over 5 years ago. After all, authors and publishers want reviews while their new releases are “fresh” and attracting new readers. Bedrock was published in May, 2013, hence, “old news”. It was Britney King’s first book. I’m late to the party! Ms. King has now published (if my count is correct) 13 novels. I first became aware of her when I read The Replacement Wife, then went back and read its predecessor, The Social Affair and very recently, Speak of the Devil (a book that I would rate about 7 on a 5 point scale!) So, I thought that I should now “go back to the beginning” of the career of a woman who is rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors and read her first book. Having the opportunity to get Bedrock as a “freebie” sealed the deal.
I began reading it with lowered expectations. I mean, in all lines of endeavor our initial efforts rarely equal our later ones since experience does tend to make us better professionals in our field. So, I was pleasantly surprised how damn good Bedrock was and how much I enjoyed it! All of the things that I love about Brittney King’s recent books were there in her initial one. She has an amazing knack for developing female protagonists that are very real, complicated, strong,
independent, complex, flawed, conflicted, multi-dimensional women who the reader (at least me) falls in love with (perhaps because these traits are the ones that appeal to me). I loved Addison! Addison’s husband Patrick was a real jerk who pushed Addie to her life-changing experiences that included becoming a dominatrix. (I’ll not describe that in detail since to do so would be a “plot spoiler”.) And I liked (was jealous of) William (the rich man with whom Addison fell in love with). Their sex scenes were blazing hot!
There were a few “holes” in the plot and more background could have been provided to better flesh out some of the characters and their relationships and better explain later events. The twists and turns of the plot were not predictable but not unexpected given my familiarity with Ms. King’s later novels. The psychological intensity and the slow, methodical plot and character development met my expectations. All in all, I was very pleasantly surprised to find Ms. King’s first novel to be only slightly below her more recent publications.
Bedrock is a fascinating and enjoyable read that I highly recommend.
I liked this book a lot. It’s funny how a person can get caught up in situations that they would never thought they would ever find themselves in. Especially faced with “desertion” of a husband so far away, leaving her with every day’s burdens and life with 3 children. Great, and an in depth read.
Crook way too long to get interesting
wasn’t a fan of how abruptly the book ended. it did encourage me to read the second book though.
This is one of the best thrillers I have read in a long time. I would love to read the second one but don’t know the name of it!
what an engaging read!!!! Bedrock is a brew of romance, suspense and more. This book grabbed my attention from the first page and I burned through it in one sitting. It’s full of twists and turns and interspersed with romance.
Bedrock is highly addictive, with an ending that left me wanting more. Can’t wait to read the next book.
This is book 1 in the Bedrock series. I really enjoyed this story and meeting these characters. From beginning to end the author had me surprised at what came next. With all the twists and turns throughout the story it kept me on the edge of my seat. It was interesting, intense to say the least. Great story, can’t wait to read book 2.
Another Amazing Novel from Britney King. She is beyond amazing with her Psychological Thrillers. She has become one of my absolute favorite Authors. I highly recommend owning all of her books!
