PEACE AND QUIET CAN BE MURDER!Fiona Fleming had hoped inheriting her grandmother’s bed and breakfast and returning home to quiet Reading, VT would be a welcome escape from the city life in New York and her cheating ex-boyfriend. She figured the most excitement she’d face would be making beds, pesky customers and the awful stench coming from her grandmother’s ornery pug, Petunia. Instead, she … Instead, she finds herself elbow-deep in clogged toilets, the town blackmailer floating belly-up in her fish pond and she’s the prime suspect.
She’s soon looking for answers in the seedy-side of the tiny town and winds up in dangers she never even faced in the city. While she is surrounded with help from the odd cast of characters in this bizarre town, she’s not sure who she can trust. Her back-up, however, consists of her flighty yet fashionable childhood friend, her grandmothers nosy neighbor and her beloved father who seems to have secrets of his own. Then there’s the buried treasure she can’t figure out and how to get her mind off of how great the new sheriff’s backside looks in his uniform.
Can Fiona uncover the truth before the handsome sheriff puts her behind bars instead of asking her out?

This mystery has several surprising twists and turns. Story moves along and is pretty much a page turner. The language is plain but not vulgar. I would read another.
Characters not well developed and plot lacked originality. It was readable, but not really enjoyable.
As the owner of two pugs, it was really funny to have Petunia as a character of the book.
I enjoyed reading it kept my interest a good mystery
Easy, enjoyable light reading.
Not a typical cozy mystery. She inherited the Bed and breakfast and everything she touches falls apart or needs fixing and to top it off she finds out after burning all her bridges to come back to her hometown and run the family business she finds out it was signed over to someone else and she’s supposed to vacate the place. She’s got nowhere to go and everything she owns. Blood, sweat and tears into this place from the last two weeks. Chases after this guy who has the paperwork and she wants proof her grandmother really signed the place over to this guy in charge of the insurance company he’ Supposed to be representing. Drama from troubles of other elder family members losing their homes and property are heard. The problem is brought to her parents whose father is a retired police officer with issues with this man and says he’ll deal with the issue. The next day the guy is found dead in the back koi pond behind the bed and breakfast and she is the one they expect of killing him. Everyone in town has issues with the family. The aunt runs the senior housing and she is the nurse too so she has access to all the medications. When the man is set up for burial the son is taking over the fathers dealings and sees the underhandedness done. Some he himself had run information on he thought for loans not for bribes and blackmail. The son digs up discrepancies on many accounts and helps bring charges up against his own family. However, no one knows who has done what when you think all is solved and that the right family members are all brought into jail. The plot changes and the Bed and breakfast owner comes to the neighbors house to help the older lady who was her grandmothers best friend and ends up becoming the victim herself so the turn of the plot is great to the very end you still don’t know
Love the pug and the narrative ! Also the characters from the B & B to the family dynamics..
