PEACE AND QUIET CAN BE MURDER!Fiona Fleming had hoped inheriting her grandmother’s bed and breakfast and returning home to quiet Reading, VT would be a welcome escape from the city life in New York and her cheating ex-boyfriend. She figured the most excitement she’d face would be making beds, pesky customers and the awful stench coming from her grandmother’s ornery pug, Petunia. Instead, she … Instead, she finds herself elbow-deep in clogged toilets, the town blackmailer floating belly-up in her fish pond and she’s the prime suspect.
She’s soon looking for answers in the seedy-side of the tiny town and winds up in dangers she never even faced in the city. While she is surrounded with help from the odd cast of characters in this bizarre town, she’s not sure who she can trust. Her back-up, however, consists of her flighty yet fashionable childhood friend, her grandmothers nosy neighbor and her beloved father who seems to have secrets of his own. Then there’s the buried treasure she can’t figure out and how to get her mind off of how great the new sheriff’s backside looks in his uniform.
Can Fiona uncover the truth before the handsome sheriff puts her behind bars instead of asking her out?

The best part of this series…it’s real. What do I mean? LOL…I know I’ve ALWAYS wanted to open a B&B, and within the first chapter I am introduced to the reality of owning a B&B in a HYSTERICAL way!! The first book in this series was funny and engaging. I highly recommend this series!!
This is my first Patti Larsen book and I really enjoyed it. I’ll admit I was a little miffed when she wouldn’t let sweet Petunia on the bed. *grin* but that’s an issue that eventually gets fixed. I LOVE the Petunia character and I can tell the author has a pug of her own. Fun story, good mystery, great characters.
A great read
Fun book and funny author!
I listened to this audio book and enjoyed all the information about how Fiona (Fee) inheriting her grandmother Iris’ bed and breakfast. It gave her an excuse to move home to Vermont from New York City and a cheating ex-boyfriend. What she didn’t expect was for a property developer, Pete Wilkins to claim that Iris had signed the deed to the inn over to him. The next day his body is found in her garden pond. Now she is the #1 suspect in his death.
This was a relaxing, quick-paced audio book. Fee has a pug Petunia who is a bit overweight and maybe a bit stinky sometimes and loved hearing about her in the story. The characters of the town of Reading (not the real Reading in Vermont) are well described, the mystery is interesting and comes with a surprising end.
As cosies go, this had all the components of a brilliant one even down to the sweet, but farty Pug, Petunia. Petunia (the pug and the Bed & Breakfast named for her) made the story for me.
All in all, well-written cosy in a quirky town.
Also, the sheriff is hot.
When Fiona Fleming finds a body floating in her inn’s fish pond, she’s drawn to investigate.
Larsen gives us an intriguing story with numerous sub-plots and plenty of twists and turns. Her protagonist is strong, witty and likable. Her secondary characters are quirky.
A delightful read.
Rather an unrealistic view of a murder in a small town but if you’re not expecting a heavy read than this book is for you. It’s entertains & I was able to visualize the characters as they were written
A thoroughly enjoyable book. It also was the first time in a long time I guessed wrong who the murderer was.
Liked the story line and characters, but some of the sentence structure (run on sentences, words jumbled out of place) and editing made for a tough read in places.
Really cute story, very addictive if you want an easy, funny read. Love the characters.
It was a nice story. After she found out that he was cheating on her Fiona breaks up with her boyfriend and returns home to small town Reading, Vermont. She inherited her grandmother Bed and Breakfast after she passed therefor she has a job when she arrives back home. Fiona enjoys running the B&B despite having to unclog toilets. A few unexpected challenges come up like a dead man in the B&B’s Koi pond. Fiona as always loved a mystery and sets out to unravel these challenges.
A fun book to read.
Bed and Breakfast and Murder is a fun read with a quirky pug Petunia and small town nosy characters, especially the clueless sheriff, always helping or hindering Fiona solve her murder mystery. You will be pleasantly surprised with the romantic twists and the ending.
I really did enjoy this book. It was good to unwind with and it had a nice twist at the end. I do recommend it.
What a fun and entertaining read! I really enjoyed this, and living the love or hate emotional reaction to the various characters. The story was also really well written and proof-read (which means the world to me!)
Fun read!
clean fun
I love this series.
Nice light reading with a good story. If you are tired of the gloomy mysteries I would recommend this one for your reading pleasure.
