The dreaded friend-zone…
The last place I ever want to be with college basketball God, Jake LaShae.
I am losing my mind trying to figure out what this gorgeous and confident man wants from me. I need to break through his walls. What is it about me that makes him not go there? What am I lacking?
When a mind-blowing betrayal knocks the wind out of me, and I think I can’t feel any lower… … any lower… Brody stumbles into my path — barefoot no less, and sexy as hell. His direct and mouth-watering swagger is a breath of fresh air. The feelings this man gives me are like nothing I’ve ever experienced.
But Brody has a past.
A past that makes it nearly impossible for him to trust me and let us become us in whatever capacity that may be.
Just when Brody and I truly connect, just when I think that finding my soul-mate in college isn’t a total joke, Jake comes back into my life… and messes things up… possibly for good.

Wild Emotions
I came in to this book blind after reading and loving Challenge, I needed to go back to the beginning and read all the words by this author. Generally the first few books by an author are a little clunky until they find their style voice. Not the case here. This book surprised me, and I love when that happens! I had not read the synopsis; I did not know about the love triangle and did not see it coming. I had not connected with one of the main characters, but figured he would have some redeeming qualities written later in the story. Nope. See ya, buh bye. Good riddance to you. Not much of a triangle after all. It wasn’t hard for me to switch gears and fall head over heels in love with the guy left standing. It’s not hard for the heroine, Finley, to fall in love either-sticky, messy, glorious love. I loved this book; I found the writing fresh and romantic and the characters strong and passionate.
Very slow in getting hero and heroine together. Didn’t care for the story
59% DNF
For those who plan to read this book just know that this is not a standalone (or do not read the epilogue). It’s a college romance that focus only on the relationships, class and studying is just there on background. I know we’re not necessarily the smartest when we’re in college, but these characters do not have the brightest future.
This book has been very angsty for me.
From the beginning I thought Finley would end up with Jake just with how the story started. And while he played a part in shaping who Finley was and become, I feel there was a huge emphasis on him that wasn’t completely needed.
You can tell the characters are younger and still need to mature throughout the book. Learn about each other and grow. I felt like they had finically got there and then Finley goes and does something without speaking to Brody.
The angst I’m feeling right now is pretty heavy. I’m heartbroken for Brody and I don’t even know how or where things are going to go until I dig into this next book.
You can definitely tell this is one of the authors first books compared to her most recent work but it’s still a good read, nonetheless.
This book takes us back to the beginning to see how Brody and Finley first met. It was definitely funnier, and a whole hell of a lot sexier than book 2, and that’s saying something. I mean my God! The sex scenes between Brody and Finley were so passionate and full of longing, it really showed that for them sex was so much more than physical pleasure. For these two it was all about the love. I gotta say though, Finley is a lucky girl that I wasn’t on that college campus too because we would have had some cat fights with massive amounts of hair pulling so that I could get Brody for myself. This man was freakin’ perfection, and so adorably romantic I practically swooned.
Before Brody makes his not so graceful appearance into the novel, Finley has a total crush on star basketball player Jake. His behavior towards Finley is really confusing, going from suggestive one minute to “just friends” the next. When she catches him in bed with someone else, word spreads quickly over campus about Jake’s douche-holery, and Finley tries to move on to bigger and better things, aka Brody’s nether region. This made me realize that romance novels set in college have more gossip, drama and backstabbing than an episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
This book ended on such an awww moment I couldn’t help but grin like an idiot. But then the epilogue came around which lead directly into how book 2 starts with Finley discovering she can’t have children, and deciding to end her relationship with Brody. Well, all the happy feelings I got from that awww moment were just washed away. Now I’ve already read book 2, but if I hadn’t this epilogue definitely would have spurred me on to read it as soon as possible

I purchased Becoming Us: The London Lovers Series by Amy Daws and this review was given freely.
Written in American English, Becoming us is a sweet and awkward romance featuring senior party girl Finley, her friends, her crush on neighbor Jake, and her rocky romance with neighbor Brody. Frequent use of alcohol, both superficial and forever friendships, opposites attract, unfiltered realistic characters, lots of drama, an accident, and a heart broking health issue can all be found in the is short College based novel. Contains a cliffhanger.
Best if reading the series front start to finish.

Reviews on Goodreads. Amazon. The book addicts.
I’m so loving this series. I basically started reading it at the end. But it really doesn’t matter because they can basically be read as standalones.
I love broken hearted Brody !! I can’t wait to finish there story in the next book because that cliffhanger was deadly!! So on that note. I’m going to start it. Just know they are really good and you should read them.
After binging the Harris Brothers series and coming back to read the London Lovers, I wasn’t expecting the level of angst of this book. I loved the beginning of Finley and Brody’s story! They have so much to work through but it seemed meant to be that they met when they did. The epilogue had me diving right into Broken Us. I can’t wait to see where this series goes!
*4 Stars*
I’ve been an Amy Daws fan since her first Harris Brothers book released and I was lucky enough to review for her. Ever since then I have been meaning and meaning to get onto the London Lovers Series and go back to where it all began for her. After all, this series gave us the Harris Brothers after Vi gets introduced in a later book.
Anyways, I digress. I finally thought to myself, bugger it, I’m going to pick it up, and what better time than now while I’m waiting (impatiently I might add), for Gareth’s story to release. To tide myself over with some other stories of Amy’s, I picked up Becoming Us last night, and boy did I speed through it.
I liked Finley quite a lot, I despised Jake, and Brody was pretty awesome. Mind you, even while I understood his issues, I did not like his actions at times. But overall Brody is pretty damn fine.
I loved the secondary characters as well – more Leslie, Angela and Mark please?
I thought this was a really appropriate college story. It seems to highlight a lot of aspects of what college life must be like. The parties, the finding oneself, insecurities with the opposite sex – it has it all.
But underneath that it also tells the reader to find someone who is like them. Who fits with them and accepts them. Fin and Brody are really sweet together and I like how well they fit, and how so THEM they are.
But let me tell you…that ending?! I’m running of to Amazon right now to get the next book!
Bugger you Amy, bugger you 😉
definitely 100% would make you cry of laughter and sadness because the heartbreak is unbearable
It’s a really great plot but, sadly the ending sucks and ruins the happy ever after. I don’t think the second book will make the story any better.
Loved this book now I’m on book 4 in the series I recommended these books hey are really good!
Leaves you hanging though, I wasn’t thrilled with how it ends.
I don’t think there is a book by Amy Daws that I don’t love. She is truly an amazing author who tells stories that make her readers feel so much. In Becoming Us we follow college student Finley as she tries to muddle through her college days while fighting her attraction to a friend who she wants more with, that is until a betrayal rocks her. She then meets Brody, a man who is fighting his own demons. Brody is everything Finley is looking for but can she let go of Jake forever? Wow, what a great story. I love this story but I did get frustrated with Finley and Brody at times. I wanted to reach in and shake them both. I in love with Amy Daws and how she writes. I love her stories. I can’t wait for the next book.
Book 1 is emotional rollarcoaster read!
Edge of my seat
Amazing.
I enjoyed reading but I didn’t realize it was a cliffhanger.
Short review. This book is a prequel to A Broken Us. I thought the book was written with characters that some you’ll like and others that you’ll want to punch. The main character Finley is likable and you’ll want her to find the right guy who she can be herself around and who will make her happy. Jake Finley’s crush irritated me to know end he is what I have deem the biggest McMixedSignals guy I have ever read, he kept giving Finley signals that he wanted to date her then would treat her like one of the guys in the span of minutes. Brody was sweet and upfront to Finley that he wanted to date her, he does have some bagged though that is understanding but does cause problems between him and Finley. I liked the friendship between Finley, Leslie and Angela, you could see how much these three care and love each other and why they became and have stayed friends for so long. Brody’s friend Mark is weird but in a adorable way that I wanted learn more about him.
