When you live in a place where “turbo speed” internet is a slight step above dial-up, men carry on nine-year beard-growing challenges out of stubborn pride, and your brothers do things like nail all your panties to the outside of your cabin just for funsies, you tend to be a little crazy. You can call it a “locational” hazard, if you will. That’s Tomahawk for you.We rank people based on just how … you.
We rank people based on just how crazy they are. And the four craziest families in town are called the Wild Ones.
I’m on the bottom tier of those, so technically I’m not as crazy as the other Wild Ones. In fact, if it wasn’t for my brothers and their endless antics, I wouldn’t be considered a Wild One at all. Ahem. Sure. We’ll go with that.
Anyway, I have a best friend who endures it all with me. Benson Nolans is my one, constant favorite person.
Without him, I’d probably go really crazy, and not the fun kind. It’d be ridiculous, after three years of a flawless friendship, to mess that all up by falling for him.
I mean, even if we did get a little too close one night, it’d be reckless endangerment. Even if we did suddenly feel the chemistry that’s always been there and stop toeing the line, it’d be a foolish risk to take.
It’d be stupid to start hoping a really fun, but completely irrational, night with zero inhibitions might accidentally happen.
Really stupid…

Becoming A Vincent: The Wild Ones #1 (Blogger ARC)
Wild One Tip #72: Know the brand of crazy you’re dealing with. It could save your balls. Or your vagina lips.
In the small Washington town called Tomahawk you don’t have to only worry about the wild animals that lurk in the woods. You have to keep your eyes out for those that they call the Wild Ones.
CM Owens is one of my go to authors for when I am looking for a book that is going to keep me entertained and laughing from beginning to end. And Becoming a Vincent does not let me down. This book had me laughing right off the bat. In fact it was so entertaining that I want to find a town like Tomahawk and move there so that I can have this kind of entertainment in real life. The chemistry between Lilah and Benson was one of the things that also made this book one that can keep you enthralled in their story. The antics that the rest of the Vincent’s throw into the mix just lets you know just why they are called the Wild Ones.
There wasn’t only one thing that I can say was my favorite part. This is one of those books that I can say is going to be hands down of my favorite books that has everything that I want to find in a book. The antics that are part of the Wild Ones, in this book being the Vincent’s is something that makes me impatient for the next part to be released.
Wild One Tip #327: Always watch your back. Or at least have someone crazy enough to watch it for you.
CM Owens has done it again with Becoming a Vincent. There hasn’t been a book yet that I haven’t enjoyed by her. She has a way to make you want more and more of her characters. And with Lilah and Benson there story has only made me want more of the Wild Ones, and I personally can’t wait to get the next part to see what other crazy shenanigans there can be. This is another book that is being added to my re-read list, and will be one that I will be reading again and again in the near future.
Oh, my goodness what a “wild” book. I loved this book. It was a wild and crazy read. Fun. Just fun. Loved the storyline. Loved the characters. Loved the sassy dialogue. Loved the antics. There was nothing about this book not to love. It is the start of a new series. Bravo!!!! This book introduces us to a lot of the characters that I am sure will be featured in upcoming books. Benson and Lilah are awesome. Lilah is not your typical primpy type of female. She doesn’t mind going toe to toe with anyone, family included. It reminded me of a fun light hearted Hatfield-McCoy , but with 4 groups, without the killing. C.M. Owens..nailed it. Awesome…Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
A brilliantly chill read. Hilarious, Strangely romantic & brimming with friendship & family. I loved the concept, characters & story!!

This book is EVERYTHING! The plot is so witty and authentic, I felt like I was reliving my own memories. I wish I could move there and be a Wild One! New life goal.
Another 5-star read from this author! I’m not usually a friends to lovers fan but I am a C.M. Owens fan so I will read anything this lady writes. This one was the perfect combination of funny, quick, and steamy.
For quite sometime, I’ve had this book in my wish list because my daughter said, “Mom, you have to read this! It’s soooo funny!” I never imagined how much laughter it would bring. This afternoon as I tried reading a paragraph to said daughter, I laughed so hard I ugly cried. Trust me when I say very few people have ever witnessed this! The characters were freakin’ hilarious and the antics were off the charts! I absolutely loved the friendship of Lilah and Benson and their story that evolves. I’m jumping right in to book number 2 because laughing feels good! Welcome to Tomahawk!
5 laugh my ass off stars!! Another hilarious rom-com from the great C. M. Owens going straight to my favorites list.
This is book one of the “Wild Ones” stand alone series.
Fantastic!! This book had me laughing so hard I almost peed myself by page three. The entire book was crazy and just pure perfection. I am in-love with this town and most definitely the Wild Ones!! A certain secretive male really caught my eye as well. Omg I don’t think I could have fallen more in love with Benson!! Make perfection.
You can not stop at book one. I need more of this city but I am also scared nobody will top the infamous friends to lovers, Benson and Lilah!! These two together were what love is made of. Explosive.
I think this book is quirky, funny as hell, flawlessly written, romantic (in a Wild One way), and one of my favorite reads of all time. If you haven’t read this, now is the time to do so!!
Need a pick-me-up? This rom com is one wild ride of crazy, sexy, fun. I laughed out loud.

How could I not pick this up after that description? I have been struggling through a bit of a reading slump when a dear friend recommended this lighthearted read to me. Hi, Chan! xx And that is exactly what this book delivered!
This takes place in a small remote community where bets are made and pranks are played. They also rank the families that reside there by their level of craziness. Apparently, the Vincents were one of the Wild Ones. The triplets have been causing the town grief for a while, but according to Lilah, her brothers were the main cause of the chaos.
Lilah spends her days trying to keep her brothers under control and seeking help from her friend Benson when they were after her. He was her savior and confidant. However, lines were starting to blur for Lilah after she ended one of the town’s long running bets. She is terrified of ruining their friendship, but she is also terrified to not act upon the feelings. She still can’t believe that she is falling for her best friend…
4 STARS!

Oh my gosh, this was so freaking good!!! I swear there were times I was laughing so hard I just about peed myself!
This book was recommended to me a loooong time ago and for one reason or another I put it off until I never thought about it again. When it popped up on a Goodreads challenge, I dusted it off and I am literally kicking myself for being the one reader who hasn’t experienced the Wild Ones!
From the very first pages, this book captured me, made me smile, made me laugh and at times had me tearing up – I love when families come together. Those are all the signs of an amazing read! It’s difficult to explain this book so I’ll start by saying that you’ll want to meet the wacky citizens of Tomahawk. They do things their own way which often skirts the edge of the law and completely bypasses acceptable behavior.
This is Lilah and Benson’s story and holy heck did I love everything about them. A friends-to-lovers trope can be tricky and I did worry about this losing some of its charm the further into the relationship it went, but I worried for nothing. Both the hero and heroine are with no one else once they become friends and even if it took some time for them to recognize what they wanted, and already had, their behavior was proof to everyone around them that they were together.
”That, my darling niece, is real love. It’s not always going to slap you in the face, though that kind is amazing too. I would know. But sometimes, it burns you so subtly, that you don’t realize you’re boiling until it’s too late. The water just too a while to heat up with you, kiddo.”
Of course, Lilah, being Lilah, has her own thoughts on the issue of being in love:
”And if I’m in love with Benson, then my life is going to suck even more. Because it hurts to love someone you want to shoot a little.”
While we only have a little bit of Benson’s point of view, there was never a question of how he felt or that he was exactly what Lilah needed. He found her crazy to be part of her charm – if a Wild One could have charm – and he displayed enough jealous, possessive moments to make my heart sing.
Lilah, on the other hand, let her freak flag fly free, dead chipmunk and all. She’s discombobulated about her changing feelings for Benson so she deals with it like a normal Vincent would.
”I’m being ridiculous. I can’t stop being his friend even if he does get a girlfriend. I’ll just have to make her life hell – simple task for a girl like me – until she’s gone.
There. Plan made. Problem solved.”
With all the chaos and pandemonium that exist in their corner of Tomahawk, a girl, even a Wild One, has to learn quickly how to handle any given situation. Lilah was more than capable of taking care of unruly business when required, which was often.
“Killian is tapping a bat’s end into his palm, and Hale is propped up on a shotgun.
‘I’ll give you one minute to get back to your cabin. One minute before I grab the BB gun. Then I’ll have no mercy,” I warn them.’”
This is a lightning fast read with extremely low angst. We do have a bit of drama and this couple have an issue they have to deal with. But when you’ve got a Wild One as your significant other, it takes more than just talking things through.
”There’s only one way to win back the heart of a Wild One. You have to prove you’re crazy enough to deserve it.”
Despite an epilogue that only gives us a few weeks look into the future, it was hilarious, it was heartwarming and it was perfect. More so when the Author’s note at the end promised so much more to come from this wacky world of Wild Ones. There will be no delay in reading the rest of this series!
I want to be a Wild One…
If you’re looking for a really entertaining, funny and sexy story, I highly recommend giving Becoming A Vincent a try. Lilah and Benson were perfect together and I loved that their friendship was fully established before they even contemplated a relationship. The people of Tomahawk are a wee bit crazy but completely lovable.
It was a wee bit OTT with their silly shenanigans, but it was all done in fun and never mean spirited…well, not too mean spirited. Pipe bombs, paintball guns and water cannons are the weapons of choice but the old bb guns do have a place when it comes to protecting yourself.
I found this author when I started another series, All The Pretty Monsters, she wrote under a different pen name, Kristy Cunning. Her writing is very entertaining, funny and sexy. This book is the first under the pen name, C.M. Owen’s and will not be my last.
I mostly laughed, had a few sniffle worthy pages that I easily got through and finished with a big goofy smile on my face.
I’ve already bought book 2 and I can’t wait to start.
Well darn it, this book was just plain fun to read. It is over the top, childish at times, holds more humor then 10 normal books combined, is like a crazy acid trip of fun and has amazing characters! Its so beyond realistic its crazy. Worth the read.
Because this is Tomahawk/Because…beards
I was in a serious book funk before reading this book. I don’t know why I put of reading it. I usually like the humor that can be found in a CM Owens book. I loved the crazy! They were the crazy my family would be if we lived near a lake. I know some people would read this and say it’s not realistic or something but per the author’s note, “Bottom line, what you may find crazy might have been something I pulled from my actual life.” As I was reading I could picture this happening. I usually do this go for the friends to lovers storyline, but I loved this book. Read it!!
Tomahawk, from it’s description, is a rather simple town. People are just folks, cousins are kin, and hi-tech means you drive a speedboat instead of a fishing boat. Lilah and her two brothers are Wild Ones. There are four families of Wild Ones on each corner of the lake in Tomahawk. The Wild Ones are exactly like their moniker, pretty dang wild. They are not allowed at the same party unless it’s a wedding or a funeral of one of the wild ones. Truly, I can’t remember all the rules, but if there are two families at the same party there’s either a fight or something blows up.
For the past nine years, all of the men of Tomahawk have been bearded because of a bet and all of the ladies are just grossed out. You’d think if you weren’t getting any action because your beard got in the way I wouldn’t think a bet would be a strong enough reason to keep it, but these men are stubborn! Lila’s best friend Benson (also bearded) has been a constant for the last three years. Even though on drunken nights he gets kind of handsy, they never cross that line. When the beard rule gets broken and Benson trims down, Lilah is wishing for that line to be crossed, and soon!
This novel was absolutely hysterical! It had such a fun sense of humor and plenty of tension between Lilah and Benson. I loved how he was just hers, and she was his, even though they had never crossed that friendly line. He was just waiting for his chance. If you are looking for a kind of crazy, fun romance buy this book. I bought it awhile ago on my sister’s recommendation but sat on it. I wish I hadn’t! It’s the perfect pick me up for a down day, a great summer vacation novel, and really just the right book for any mood you may be in. I’ve already purchased the second…
This is a hysterical romantic comedy. I was laughing so hard at times I was crying as well. I loved the story overall and can’t wait to read about the other “Wild Ones” families. I highly recommend reading this book if you are looking for fun and romance!
I LOVED this book! It was light, funny, sweet, sexy. Just what I needed.
Holy BeJesus woman!!!!
This story is way too short! I need more Lilah and Benson!!!
MTV used to have a show called Buckwild. This show was a reality series about a bunch of crazy young adults living in West Virginia. They have NOTHING on Tomahawk!
I want to move there. I want to grow a beard (and I’m female… but I’d do it for CM!) Give me a corner and a dead skunk flag! I’m ready!!!
Ok maybe not, but after reading this I feel like I can fish with a pipe bomb and climb a tree to escape a cougar.
#Because IT’S TOMAHAWK!!!
A laugh out loud romantic comedy with great funny characters
What an absolutely fabulous story! I couldn’t put it down. Lilah and Benson have an amazing friendship and thank goodness when the beard is cut down they get around to the Craziness of being “wild” and in love. I love a book sometimes for pure escapism and this is one of them.
