Evie and Beckett’s story had me hooked immediately. They had so many stops and starts in their relationship, I lost track. There’s a major twist that blind-sided me, but made perfect sense in hindsight. Their story is captivating and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Super alpha male with a twist! Debra @janise’s Jivin’ Book Blog
Beckett is a super alpha that needs control over his world and then he meets Evie. She does need what he is offering to an extent.
Evie is super independent and due to her past doesn’t like to rely on anyone, then she meets Beckett. He needs her just in a way he never expected.
This story has a lot of give and take with our characters. They both have a lot to learn about each other and themselves. There is a little bit of a surprise in our story that I had picked up on and when I knew I was right, I was over the moon!
I was hooked from the beginning and it kept me in it till the end.
This was another solid offering from this author! Beckett is a rich no nonsense, no strings type of person. Evie is alone in the world and struggling to make ends meet. Beckett gives Evie a business proposal that she can’t pass up. Their story is an emotional one! Their struggles to let each other in is one you don’t want to miss.
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done
Beck and Call by Kimberly Carrillo is the story of Beckett Anderson and Evie Holmes.
Evie is alone in the world and has been struggling to make it money wise. This has put her working in a field that not what she wants but it helps her to get by. Evie because of her loss has set on a path to independence and to guard her feelings. Beckett by all appearances has it all but deep inside he is missing an important ingredient in his life. Beckett is very guarded with control issues that are not going to go away. When Evie and Beckett life both collide they end up finding something they both need. This was a page turning read for me. I hope to read more from this author soon.
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
This is a brand new author for me and this story was a little different than I am used to reading. It read very much like Pretty Woman and a retelling of Cinderella in many ways.
The heroine in this story is Evie/Evelyn and she is a 23 year old waitress with a college degree when she meets Beckett. He is an extremely wealthy guy who has some big problems and he decides Evie is the person to distract him and so he hires her to be his assistant and girlfriend and it all begins on a business trip.
Evie has had a very hard life and she refuses to be pitied. She has a very wealthy best friend but refuses to use her to get ahead but when Beckett gives her a job she goes for it. And it changes her life in some really major ways.
If there is any message in this story it is that take a chance on life and just LIVE it. And I really loved Evie. She is a strong female lead and she has had a very hard life but she keeps on going. Beckett is silent for a lot of the book until nearer the end when we start to see inside his head and discover his motivations.
This was a well written story, just I tend to go for a different kind of story. I would class this story as more like erotica but also with a side of drama. Beckett has some secrets that he tries to not expose and Evie is a go getter and so we wants to really know who he is.
Evie Holmes needs a new life and she is struggling to make ends meet and fearing each day will bring a new set of problems that she will have to face alone. All Evie wants is to be able to finally use her degree to obtain a life free from poverty. Beckett Anderson needs to control his world, he has power, respect and a multi-billion-dollar company but he missing something in his life. When a chance encounter with Evie which leads to a an impromptu business proposal with a solution that could benefit the both of them in the long run. But Evie and Beckett’s will change forever when two pink lines can destroy could the sense of control that these two have. Read this book to see what happens with Evie and Beckett.

Wow I am blown away by this talented author and what an awesome story she has penned! This is Evie and Beckett’s story. Beckett is fully in control of his life but knows that there is something missing, and Evie is alone in the world struggling to survive, but she is no push over; Beckett has certainly met his match with Evie. This is a well written flawless, must read story which is humorous, entertaining, and with unexpected twists thrown into the mix, as well as having relatable characters. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and highly recommend for all readers.
Move out of the way Christian, Hudson and Gideon!! Beckett is here to steal our hearts!!
I’m going to be completely honest here – Kim and I became friends after we met on another author’s Facebook group and I didn’t even know she was an author!! I heard about Beck and Call’s release and was able to grab an ARC thanks to Booksprout!
It’s so awkward sometimes to read your friend’s books because there’s always the possibility that you wouldn’t like the book and then you have to either lie to keep the friendship or you should be honest and break their hearts!
Kimberly thank you for saving me from all that anxiety. When I read that part about the newspaper in Chapter One, I just knew I was going to love this book! And about 10 hours later I can call Kimberly Carrillo one of my favorite authors. She’s been upgraded from awesome Facebook friend.
But please don’t think because we’re friends, I’m giving her a great review! She earned those 5 stars!!
So why am I practically begging/forcing you (yes, you! The one reading this review and not knowing if you should buy the book or not!) to read this book? Well let me tell you this – I pretended to be sick yesterday so I could stay in bed and read all day! I finished after 1AM and now I have a book hangover. But was it worth it? Totally!
I can’t really find the right words to describe this book! There is a few things that’s so predictable but I think that’s just a ploy to make you feel comfortable and think: “I already know what’s going to happen” and then BAM! Kim hits you with something you would never expect to happen. It happened more than once.
That characters are so relatable but not cliche at all. Evie doesn’t take anyone’s nonsense and she walked out on Beckett more than once when he pissed her off. She’s not taking any crap! Beckett wants to control everything but he’s also insecure and scared of loving someone! Best friend Colter is loyal but he doesn’t take Beck’s crap either. Jana I totally love (and I’m so happy she’s going to be in the second book as well!) She’s so witty and snarky and I wish she could be my best friend!! Even Beck’s mom is hilarious when she discovers what her son did! It’s my goal in life to be like her when I’m old and retired!
Just click that button and buy the damn book! You will not be disappointed! Kim has a brilliant mind and I am so in awe that she was able to come up with this amazing plot!
Beck and Call is definitely one of my top 10 favorite books only because of Kim’s ability to create the perfect set up to reveal one of the biggest plot twists ever written! When she hinted at *spoiler* I thought nah it can’t be! It’s too much of a coincidence! They will never be able to put 2 and 2 together and realize that *spoiler*!
What I appreciated as well was the fact that Evie and Beck didn’t just jump each other in chapter one. I hate when that happens! They sexual tension had to build up first. In a previous book I read it irritated me that the characters fell in love right away but that was because that book was so unrealistic.
In Beck and Call everything happened so fast but it made total sense and if it happened in real life you would be like… I can totally see that happening!
Let me stop going on and on about this book! Just go buy it already! Mark my words – this is one of those rare gems that will have its own cult following when one friend tells another friend TO JUST READ THE DAMN BOOK!
Oh HOLY HOTNESS BATMAN….Beckett completely stole my heart. Like hook line and sinker, stole my heart. This is the first book I have read by this author but I can tell you it absolutely won’t be my last. I was hooked from page one and just couldn’t put it down. Both Beckett and Evie have wormed their way into my heart but they are stuck in my head too. I’ll be the first to say my favorite go to genre is normally romantic suspense with lots of suspense even though it makes my brain hurt. However, sometimes I just want a book that is far from that and this is it. This book is one that will stay with me long after I have finished reading it. There were a couple things thrown in that I didn’t expect for sure. Sometimes authors throw in things that are unexpected and it ends up feeling like an after thought but this one was the exact opposite of that. Everything in this book felt very thought out and not an after thought at all. I can not wait for the next book. This is an author that I will be watching aka stalking to make sure I don’t miss anything.
Review by Tabitha
Evie is a twenty three year old waitress, she’s alone in the world, and just trying to make ends meet. Beckett is rich, a bit of a control freak, and has everything money can buy, except the one thing he wants the most, someone to share it with. When a chance encounter brings these two together, will it be what they both need? I absolutely adored Evie, and I loved that she stood up to Beckett and didn’t let him get away with his crap. A fabulous read and one I recommend to any romance lover out there.
Evie is struggling to make ends meet after losing everyone in her life, she just wants to make something of her life. When she gets offered for a Beckett, she doesn’t think twice.
Beckett has it all, looks, money, but he has to have control, and the one thing he won’t do is love. Beckett needs an assistant and when he sees Evie, he knows that not only can he help her, but he wants her too. So, he offers her a proposal, mixing business with pleasure.
Evie knows that what is starting with Beck she can see herself falling fast, but she’s not going to put up with things from him like everyone else.
Things change quickly, with some things revealed and Evie knows she has to make a choice, but will Beck’s see he’s already in love or will he keep listening to his past.
Both the main characters have baggage from their past that influences how they live their lives and see their futures. The plot is an interesting one and they characters have a great dynamic going and have depth to them. A really great read.

This is the first book I read from the author and certainly looking forward for more. Evie and Beckett’s story is about a waitress getting a job for a rich intriguing guy, they go on a business trip and it all unfolds from there. Evie has had a hard life, while Beckett has secrets he needs to hide. It’s well written story, the pacing is good, you will get some twists and even a bit of laughter. Overall you will enjoy this book, the steamy scenes are good and well just hope you give this book and new author a chance, I am sure you will enjoy the story as much as I did. 5 brilliant stars!
This is my first read from this author and I enjoyed it very much. The family unit is a bit unconventional but it made the relationship more interesting. I’m hoping we get Colter and Jana’s story. Their story would definitely have more firework than what we’ve seen with Evie and Beck.
This is a fake relationship romance. Beckett is a billionaire. he needs someone to share his life with but does not believe in love. what will happen when he hires evie?
