A woman who seemingly has it all, the two men with different reasons for being in her life, and the twist of fate no one saw coming. Bridget Monahan can’t deny she’s led a somewhat charmed life. As the eldest daughter of a successful businessman, she’s never wanted for anything. After graduating from New York School of Interior Design and spending a year studying abroad, she didn’t have to draft … have to draft résumés or suffer through stressful job interviews. Instead she went to work for her father creating updated interiors for his hotel flipping company. The only gray cloud in Bridget’s personal sky is her parents’ disapproval of the man she wants to marry, but even that obstacle doesn’t seem insurmountable. Although it’s natural for them to be suspicious of the men in her life, she has no doubts about her ability to prove Roman isn’t interested in her money.
After thirty-something years on planet Earth, ex-Navy pilot Graham Dunwoody found the one person capable of reducing his agile brain to mush and his iron-clad stomach to a flurry of agitated butterflies. In a moment of prophetic insight, he knew his life would never be the same. He wasn’t wrong. Almost daily contact with his mentor’s daughter transformed that initial spark of attraction into a fiery blaze incapable of being ignored, rationalized, or doused. Unfortunately, it takes two people for a relationship, and the female part of this equation isn’t interested. Being something of a realist, he’s accepted the inevitable, taking what comfort he can from the fact that none of Bridget’s relationships have as yet become permanent. But he can’t escape knowing he’s living on borrowed time.

One simply can’t go wrong with a Delaney Cameron book, but a Delaney Cameron audiobook? Now that’s a whole different experience .
I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve read about such a perfect hero as Graham, so the fact that Bridget wouldn’t give him the time of day made my heart go out to him. Still, it was nice to see her start appreciating him more when they start spending more time together. I also enjoyed the pace of the story, and how Bridget started to realize things on her own. I loved both their passions for their jobs and their work ethics, and how this would drive them without getting to interfere with their making time for family (I loved the interactions with both Bridget’s siblings as well as Graham’s sister).
As for the narrator, I think she did a perfect job of bringing every character to life, be it man or woman, elderly or child. Oh, and her nuances were perfect, from curious to stern voices, from teasing to serious and everything in between, she nailed them all.
Overall, a great sweet romance read/listen with some steamy kisses but nothing further (after all, the H values waiting for marriage – still, it’s not CF). Recommended ~ 5 stars
Story: 4.5 stars
I am a sucker for a male protagonist who has found the woman he wants and is willing to care for her and wait, even if there’s not hope, to mean something special to her.
The female character in this story is definitely the one who struggles and suffers in this book. The male has been through a similar trial as she, but not to the same extent. His focus on her is complete, but not creepy or controlling.
A very romantic, yet clean, book. There is no real drama, just a love story that we listeners get to enjoy. Sometimes it is so refreshing to be spared all the angst that can accompany romance novels.
Narrator: 4.5 stars
I’ve listened to Liz Krane narrate a number of books and she does a wonderful job! Whenever I see her name as a narrator, I know that I’ll enjoy the narration! She has a deep enough voice that the male voices sound believable. She doesn’t read too slowly or enunciate so much that dialogue sound stilted.
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
I really liked this well written romance.
A great story about the power and enduring nature of love.
This was such a sweet love story. Bridget faced family tragedy and heartbreak over a few things, she didn’t allow it to break her spirit. Graham knew what he wanted I was patiently waiting for it to come to him, sometimes that’s what we have to do.
I received a free copy of this from the author and have voluntarily left this review.
This was not my favorite book by Delaney Cameron. I was never able to get into it. Attitudes, the maturity level, acceptance. Yikes it just didn’t flow for me. I absolutely hate to say that because I love her books. How do you go from being so in love to falling in the arms in love with someone else. I appreciate that Bridget and a good friend in Ginny.
