A fallen TV personality fleeing his failures. An ex-wife and family facing their fears… off without him.
He escapes to an island paradise where life is slower, but he soon realises that without his family, life means nothing. But it’s too late to go back.
Eloise Jackson is left to raise her three children on her own after her husband trades her in on a younger model. Too late, she realises she’s placed the children and her job at a higher priority than her husband. She lives with that knowledge every day.
She thinks she still loves Sam, her childhood sweetheart. Not knowing where he is, or even if he’s alive or dead, makes it hard to know. She’s not completely forgiven him for leaving her and the children and would love the chance to at least talk with him.
When Sasha, their twenty-four old daughter, sees her dad on a travel documentary in the Philippines, she knows she has to find him and bring him home.
Can God heal the hurts this family has suffered? Can they forgive Sam for disappearing from their lives for so long? Can love be renewed when it’s been betrayed?

A beautiful story of forgiveness and second chances. Even the most down trodden person can turn to the Lord for salvation. Sam, an alcoholic, left his wife for another woman and when that relationship ended he disappears for seven years. His family are hurt and have a hard time forgiving him. When he finally comes back he tries to mend bridges. It will take some time and his actions will show his family he is sincere.
Because We Forgave from Juliette Duncan is a clean romance based on Christian principles. The story is about a broken marriage and the healing work of God’s love and faithfulness. It’s a moving story and shows how God heals their broken hearts. The story makes you think how you deal with certain situations yourself. In short, a great book that touches your heart how we are used to it from Juliette
Forgiveness is something that can be hard for a person to do but when done can reap great rewards. This author shows that in this book. It’s very good and well worth your time reading it.
I did get an advanced copy of this book and the review is mine on my own.
This book had a feeling unlike any of the other books I’ve read by Duncan. It was heavy. It was serious. Dealing with the issues of divorce and betrayal, this book delved into forgiveness and how hard and seemingly impossible it can be. It showcased that it’s not just a momentary thing and that there are ups and downs. This book was truly incredible and there was hope and God’s truth woven into every page. A unique aspect of this book is that we got to have plenty of the kids’ perspectives also.
I was given a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Because We Forgave is a well-written, interesting story about forgiving a man who left his family and has never been heard from again. His adult daughter, Sasha, is a wonderful protagonist who searches for her dad so that she, her two brothers and their mother can have closure. I did not agree with the ending from a spiritual standpoint but did enjoy reading it. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
Ms. Duncan has done it again!
This story has a different plot.
The characters were complex and at times unlikable.
The plot had many twists and turns and was fascinating to read.
God works His way in many different scenarios and this one shows how.
What an amazing read.
Now to book 3.
A Broken Family—Can it be repaired?
This book by Juliette Duncan has such a beautiful message in it, of forgiveness and redemption! Their father became distracted to the point of leaving his wife and three children, then became so ashamed that he figured they would never forgive them. His daughter discovered where he was by finding a tourist video from the Philippines, and after talking to her mom and brothers, she heads out to find him. The story is a fairly quick read, and such a good ending, you will definitely be glad you read it!
A wonderful story about finding hope even after making choices that tore his family apart and left them desolate. Love can pave the way to forgiveness.
I really struggled with this book. I think anyone would but that’s our human nature. The walk this family takes to bring forgiveness is difficult. I didn’t care for the end result, but that’s just me. So I guess I need to work on my own attitude of forgiveness. I was given an advance copy as a complimentary gift.
This is a heart aching & a heart warming book. As the title gives the plot of the book I am so glad that Jesus came into our brokenness & is healing us from the inside out. This book portrays forgiveness as the new lease on life it is. “I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.”
This is a Wonderful story. I love hour the Author brought the story out and the way it flowed. The Author has done a Wonderful job at World Building and bringing out the Characters. I can vividly see the story through my minds eye just like I was watching a movie. This is definitely a must read.

Another insperational book by Juliet Duncan!
If you don’t keep God in the center of your life, children and marriage things can take a turn for the worst. Place your cares in His hands and trust Him to right the wrongs.
Great story of forgiveness when there seems no way.
This story makes you see the damage that can be done to children in cases of an absentee parent.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book and the review is my own.
I loved this book. The characters were wonderful. It was a powerful book about forgiveness and how God was in it. I was given this book as an ARC. I am writing this review on my own. I would recommend this book.
Juliette Duncan had an amazing way if dealing with real life issues that draws you in and makes it so you don’t want to put the book down. Her writing is powerful yet easy to read. She honors God in each and every story she writes. You will not be disappointed in any of her books.
Because We Forgave deals with forgiveness and the freedom forgiving allows us. Sam had it all but let his career control him. Before he knew it, he had left everything he held dear due to alcohol and temptation. After a very public disgrace, he completely disappears leaving his three kids and ex-wife wondering where he was, why he disappeared and struggling to move forward without resolution. Unable to understand also left them struggling to forgive.
But God still had a plan for Sam and his family. Using a documentary, an elderly nun and the power of prayer, Sam’s daughter, Sasha, finds him. But can he really go home? Can he face what’s he’s done and what he’s become? Can God really forgive and redeem him? Can he forgive himself and more importantly, can his family forgive him?
This is an amazing story of God’s love, grace and the power of forgiveness.
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
When Sam disappears his family prays that he is okay and that they will see him again. When Sister Cecelia tells Sam to pray that he will see his family he doesn’t think his prayers would come true. Sasha can’t believe it when she sees a documentary with her father in it. Will Sasha find her father in the Philippians? The author will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. You will feel God working throughout this wonderful story. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could. Juliette Duncan is truly a amazing inspirational author.
Excellent story of how God redeems man’s idea of the unforgivable. Very well written. Highly recommend. I received an advance reader copy from the author. Opinions are my own.
Samuel Jackson “the best of the best” as he thinks he is as a game show host, but loses everything to alcoholism and flees to an island thinking his family is better off without him. His wife, two sons and daughter all have hurt feelings and have not forgiven him. Then his daughter sees him in a travel documentary and insists she must visit him on the island and bring him home. Will Samuel agree to come back to the family? With God’s help can his family accept him again into their lives?
Fractured relationships are healed when forgiveness is offered. Juliette Duncan has given us another amazing story that shows God’s ability to work through fragile humans to bring people to His incredible forgiveness and grace. I found the story line to be very realistic to real life experiences. As usual in Juliette Duncan’s books, the story is told in a way that always gives the honor and glory of changed lives to God and His workings in human lives. I received a complimentary copy of this wonderful book, and have freely chosen to give my honest opinion of the book.
This book is not like most of Ms. Duncan’s books. But, It a wonderful story of how God can work in the lives of people that have been hurt by others. The plot is a little different, but it works great. I always like to read Ms. Duncan’s books because she is so good at weaving Christianity into the story. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, if you like Christian romance.
Juliette Duncan is a wonderful writer. I have enjoyed all her books. If you like clean, Christian books you will enjoy this and any of her books.
