Prim, proper, classic good girl, and her least favorite label – icy. Lila Kate Carter has heard them all. The last one, being the newest. She is not icy. She just doesn’t care for Cruz Kerrington and his spoiled, selfish, careless ways. That doesn’t make her icy, that makes him a jerk! Tired of being labeled and doing what is expected of her, Lila Kate leaves Rosemary Beach, Florida ready for an … Florida ready for an adventure. Wanting to recreate herself, find a new path, and become something more.
Eli Hardy is tired of women who always act the same, do the same thing and expect the same thing. He’s ready to swear off women until he can get the rest of his life together.
Two weeks into his no-women-rule he meets Lila. She’s so damn sweet and polite. Like she walked right out of an etiquette book. But he’d already been drunk before she walked in so there was a good chance she might not be as stunning and perfect as he thinks. He’s just too drunk to worry about that.
The next morning, he swears he can still smell her on his skin. He just can’t remember why or what happened after that third dance.
Their worlds are about to collide, and so are the secrets and lies.

I really enjoyed “Because of Lila” by Abbi Glines. I love the next generation series that highlight the grown children of the characters we fell in love with during the earlier series. This one is no exception. It’s a little confusing at first- remembering which kids belong to which character but eventually you figure it out. Regardless the characters are well written and keep you entertained throughout the book.
Can’t wait to see where this series goes next.
It’s a great addition to your book collection.
Happy Reading…enjoy!
Harlow and Grant’s love story was my favourite from the Rosemary Beach series, so getting to follow Lila Kate on her adventure of discovering love and herself was magical. Lila is awesome, she’s so much like Harlow but with this tough edge (courtesy of her awesome Aunt Blaire, I think), she has been raised every day of her life knowing how loved she is and how she will always deserve respect.
If you didn’t read Harlow and Grant’s story, I think it’s important to know that Harlow nearly died giving birth to Lila, that her condition means she couldn’t risk having another child, and as a a result the entire Rosemary Beach family is fiercely protective of Lila, especially Grant. They’re all passionate about Lila finding a ‘good guy’, someone that deserves her and appreciates how truly special she is. A guy like Eli.
The problem? Lila’s in love with the baddest bad boy that Rosemary Beach has seen since Rush Finlay: Cruz Kerrington.
Cruz goes through life numb, his demons gaining on him at every turn, demons that not even his parents are aware of. God, Cruz broke my heart so much throughout this novel. I just wanted to hug his pain away, and when it comes to light I wanted to punch Woods for his reaction. I’ll be honest, the reaction of everyone except for (maybe) Lila towards Cruz’s pain made me furious.
But the rest of the book? The other 99%? Had me laughing, crying, smiling and falling in love with Cruz and Lila. Furthermore, Abbi Glines does incredibly highlight gender expectations within this book, and she does it in a way that will make you passionately outraged for the characters, that will motivate you and inspire you, and for me, that’s the sign of a GREAT author.
This is an intensely sexy, New Adult romance that makes an absolutely perfect summer read!
So I am going to keep this review short because I want to make sure not to give anything major about this storyline away. I will admit that this was certainly not the story that I was expecting to read…at all. However, just like every single one of Abbi Glines past releases, I couldn’t put it down. Sure this wasn’t the story any of us probably thought Abbi was going to write, but I loved it nonetheless.
Because of Lila may to some seem like it could be the remake of Because of Low, but it isn’t anything like it and the boy that may seem right for our sweet Lila may not be the one she ends up with. To find out what happens pick up your copy today!
