“BECAUSE IT’S CHRISTMAS is a super modern day retelling of the classic IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE.” Painted Rock Reviews
To most people in the small town of Bayview … town of Bayview Heights, high school principal Seth Taylor is a hero. But Seth has never forgotten the mistakes he made years ago with his students. And neither has reporter Lacey Cartwright, because one involved her brother, who’s now in jail. With her grandfather pressuring her to destroy Seth in the town newspaper, Seth invites Lacey to come to the school and see what the teachers really do with kids. Attraction then love flares between these two star-crossed people. If Lacey starts to show her support—and her true feelings—for Seth, will she lose what’s left of her family?

Loved this book, thanks!
I just love her books!
High School principal, Seth Taylor of Bayview Heights was the center of a controversy and hate, well at least for Phillip. He blamed Seth for negligence, claiming the principal bestowed on his grandson, Kevin, some eight years ago when he was attending his school before they sent him to prison. His grandson had a history of violence, but Phillip blamed Seth that Kevin became that way because of how he handled him and the situation. Lacey Cartwright, took over her grandfather’s newspaper, and she also had a personal vendetta towards Seth for putting her younger brother, Kevin, in prison. She bashed him in her newspaper, but Seth invited her instead to sit in one of their school meetings to observe. And as the details unfolded, seeing Seth in action as Lacey became part of a Task Force involving students, teachers, and the community that Seth developed to help find a solution to deal with violence at school, she and Seth fell in love amid their differences. This story is not just about falling in love, but it also dealt with problems at school, foster care, revenge, forgiveness, and finding that love truly will conquer it all. Five stars all the way from beginning to the end.
3.5, bumped to 4 Superhero Stars. This is cute, quick, and sometimes tough. Because It’s Christmas is the second in the Bayview Heights series by Ms Shay. You don’t absolutely have to read Cop of the Year first, but Because It’s Christmas will be more enjoyable if you do.
Seth Taylor is the principal of Bayview Heights High School and is questioning his effectiveness there. He’s in his 25th year in education and is in a funk. He’s contemplating a new position that has just opened up at the state level. Lacey recently left a position at an LA paper, where she was a hotshot reporter and following her dreams, to come back to Bayview and take over the day-to-day running of the newspaper her grandfather started. He is in poor health and has been ever since Lacey’s brother, Kevin, was put in prison. He also blames Seth Taylor for all of their problems. So does Lacy. At least for a while.
This is not a new storyline, but the characters make it an engaging story all the same. Because It’s Christmas is set in the 90s so be prepared to go back in time. There is a reference to George Bailey and It’s a Wonderful Life. It’s not a retelling of that story but there are some similarities. All in all, this is a moving story about miracles at Christmastime.
Great
Another great book from Kathryn. This is a wonderful continuation of how teachers in many ways affect peoples lives, either as friend, family or just a strong shoulder.
Okay. Not fabulous.

Good seasonal book. Would recommend.
Fantastic book!!
This is a very sweet Christmas story of love and happiness
I liked that it had HAPPY & sad parts, but ended on a happy note.
Thoroughly enjoyed this storyline
totally enjoyed this. realistic characters. read in two days.
This is one of my favorite books. A young woman is asked to choose between the grandfather who raised her and the man she loves. There is a reason for this and, the story is woven in such a way that you are in tears for the couple and angry at the grandfather for being so unyielding in his demands. Good story.
I love her books! One of my favorite authors and I always look forward to reading her stories!!
