I like the book from start to the end I keep me in and I could not put it down good read
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have to be honest I didn’t much like it the first time round but as a second time read it was completely on a different level, whether its because I have matured I don’t know, or as I am a blogger and now articulating my feelings better I understand better and that makes more of a interesting read, I am going back through my books with a fresher approach so hopefully this won’t be the first of my re-reads that I change my mind over.
The image of Tristan is imprinted in my heart and brain the abuse that boy endured at the hands of the one who is supposed to love him was horrific. It was an unusual angle as it was the male who suffered the abuse yes there have been other books where this has taken place, but it’s Tristan’s reaction that makes this unique. So much so that the underlining message for me especially is that for you to understand as a reader is that to obliterate the boy looking back at him in the mirror was his abuser the cause of so much of his pain, he had to disfigure and disguise himself with the aid of Tattoo’s and that I can identify with.
When you look into a mirror and see your abuser looking back at you it is a very hard thing to take and as such it hit home to me very hard. Abuse as a child shapes you into the adult you become and if you haven’t had a guiding light its hard to find the nice road, the good in people everyone you meet you assume is there to hurt you in some way for Tristan his guiding light was his Isa. At first you are confused as why he is so hateful to her, why it hurt so much for him that she didn’t recognise him,but as the story progressed you knew you were coming to an unbelievable ending. It was well written flowed with ease and a damn good read, my only niggle was the swiftness to the end, I would liked a little bit more of their story as they became them but other than that it was good. The abuse that they both suffered at the hands of their parents was awful. Yes she did suffer abuse at her parents hands and you need to read it to understand also at the hands of his disgusting father. I loved the book this time around, well worth the second read. Glenna Maynard had me from the first page and kept my attention till the last. Tristan stole my heart
The book is a dark intense of a retelling of a fairy tale story that is captivating. Characters are intriguing. It is well written. I appreciate reading this book.
She was to pay her father debt and he was going to be her captor. She is the beauty and he is the beast. What will she have to do? What will he do when the debt is paid? See what will happen
The great character and storyline development had me hooked from the very beginning and as I turned each page I felt like the characters jumped from the pages and pulled me right into their story as it was unfolding! I really look forward to reading what this author writes next!
I just loved this book this is a really dark and twisted take on beauty and the beast and I could not put it down it was a fantastic read and while it was a little confusing at times the author sorts it all out in the end. A must read you will just love Tristan and Isabella’s book.
This book is deliciously disturbing, crazy and just FABLOUS!!! Glenna Maynard has a way to pull you into a story and not let you go. This was a FANTASTIC READ and I highly recommend it!!!!
I really enjoyed this book. It was such a different take on Beauty and the Beast. I loved the main man and his appearance. The story flowed well most of the time and I liked how the story resembled the fairy tale without being a copycat version.
I would have liked more of the MC aspect, more action and less inside the character’s minds. There were a few plot aspects that were talked about and then droped and that was somewhat distracting. I also thought that the female lead was too soft and the male lead was too harsh.
Overall a great story and a wonderful introduction to this author. If youbare looking for an MC book, this doesn’t really fit, but it is a wonderfully modern retelling if the fairy tale.
Goodness. Why hadn’t I read this book before?! I just been sitting in my kindle. Now I feel foolish. But not disappointed in what read at all.
I was captivated from the first word, enthralled throughout and left breathless in the end. This was a dark, suspenseful but beautiful story. Tristan and Isabella embarked on a gritty journey of forgiveness, uncovering truths and remembering the past that lead them straight to their undeniable friendship and a future both of the deserve. I enjoyed every single second of this story. Glenna Maynard never ceases to amaze me.
