Abandoned by her brother, and only known relative, Seraphina Beaumont lives alone in a cabin in the woods on the outskirts of Blessings, CA. She’s resigned herself to a life of … life of loneliness and misunderstanding when she runs into the prodigal brother of her only friend as he returns to Blessings. His horse knocks her down and injures her shoulder, but could this dark, handsome stranger be the one to heal her heart?

Seraphina and Geoff, two people who are badly hurt. She can’t be in the sun and he has his own past. Now he’s back in Blessing to reconnect with his family. Is it possible for these two to build a life together when everything seems against them?
This is a heartwarming story that don’t denials the bad decisions that were made but goes for love and forgiveness. This is a great series.
This was a beautiful story about acceptance, second chances, trust and love. I was brought to tears at the end for the sweet moment the two main characters shared. I loved the setting and how each character in the town was drastically different than the next; all the while keeping me thoroughly engaged to see how everything was going to play out. I would categorize this story as a historical clean romance and a very fast read.
Beauty Beyond Understanding is a standalone book in the Brides of Blessings series.

Beauty Beyond Understanding by Kari Trumbo. This was a beautiful story! It held a great reminder that love can concur all boundaries and that beauty is more than skin deep! There was also moments of forgiveness and redemption, restored family relationships, and learning to trust! My favorite part was how the characters of Seraphina and Geoff were able to see beyond what were the opinions of others to the real person of who they both were!
This was a great book!
This is a beautiful story of two misfits who are not comfortable in their own skin, seeing the beauty in each other, and eventually, themselves. Seraphina and Geoff’s story is moving, emotional and heartwarming as they move from mistrust to helping each other find a future.
Geoff and Seraphina are both uncomfortable in their own skin; Geoff because his mother was African American and he was beaten for it and Seraphina because she has a skin condition that doesn’t allow her to expose her skin to direct sunlight without burning up quickly. They are both going up against the distrust and misunderstanding from the townspeople of Blessings, especially Geoff’s brother-in-law Victor who hasn’t gotten over that Geoff left his sister Lenore to deal with their mentally ill mother, who killed herself. Geoff was a drinker and gambler and he ran away from his problems until he almost died. Seraphina mostly comes out at night, walks around in a cape, and creates healing potions so others think she is a witch. Geoff has matured by taking responsibility for his actions and standing up for Seraphina against the townspeople’s ridicule. I felt for Seraphina feeling so alone and misunderstood. This was a clean, at times dark, historical romance.
I have loved all of Kari Trumbo’s books that I’ve been privileged to read, and Beauty Beyond Understanding is no exception. It’s well crafted. The characters are lovable and well developed. Seraphina deals with rejection and abandonment, but still cares about people in the small town. Geoff ran away from his problems with his family as a teenager. Now, he’s back to try to reconcile with them. The plot moves quickly. The only thing that I didn’t like was Geoff taking suggestions from his dead mother. I got a copy through KU.
Such a beautiful story of inner beauty instead of outer beauty. Great characters that brought warmth to the story. The author does a great job of bringing out the readers emotions. I found it hard to put this book down when with every page I was just sucked into the story.
