“I love this Beauty and the Beast story that Skye Warren has crafted. She puts a twist to this classic tale that makes it different and deliciously erotic.” – Nina’s Literary EscapeOnce upon a time there was a beautiful college student…Erin cleans Mr. Morris’s house twice a week to pay her tuition. The reclusive ex-soldier intimidates her, but she can’t help but feel sympathy for him. Then she … but feel sympathy for him. Then she walks in on him touching himself, and she has much darker, much more sensual feelings.
And a beastly professor with scars he can’t hide…
Blake Morris knows he’s scarred both inside and out. He’s reclusive and surly. Nowhere near good enough for the smart and beautiful young woman who cleans his house.
He receives an offer to return to his alma mater as an associate professor. This is his chance to reenter the world–and to be worthy of the woman he dreams about. He never expected to see her sitting in his classroom on the first day of the semester.
Author’s Note: This book was previously published as a serial in multiple parts, including Beauty Touched the Beast, Beneath the Beauty, and Broken Beauty. They’ve been collected into this volume and revised for new readers.
BEAUTY AND THE PROFESSOR is the first book in A Modern Fairy Tale duet.

Skye Warren Beauty and the Professor was tantalizing from page one. Talk about starting with a bang! Wow, I was blown away by this book, which was my first by Skye Warren. I will definitely be reading everything else she has ever written, starting with the sequel to this book, Falling for the Beast. Brava, Ms. Warren!
This book was free to read at the time of my review. Warning: Over 18 content and this book needs to be read with the other part of the duet in order to get the full story. Erin is a graduate student who cleans houses for a reclusive former soldier and former professor. One day she discovers that Blake is as attracted to her as she is to him and they soon begin sleeping together. Erin has to deal with baggage from her mother and her experience of being a cleaning lady along with her own experience of being told that she wasn’t good enough to date her last serious boyfriend. Blake has to deal with his disfigurement from being bombed and tortured while serving in the military and with his girlfriend/fiancee’s rejection upon his return. Can these two tortured souls find love and happiness together? Can they get past the differences in their social standings? What happens when secrets come to life and the past comes back to haunt? This book is full of angst, second guesses, lots of action in and out of the bedroom, anger, disillusionment, love and some redemption.
Love it so much I just couldn’t put it down
What a book! There are so many twists and turns that I kept up with my mouth constantly open! The lady can write and make you feel every inch of everything going everywhere! You gotta love her! The ending crept upon me an I had no idea that I was even near the end! Wow! What a kick in the head!
This is book one in A Modern Fairy Tale Duet. If your a fan of this author and even if your not a fan you don’t know what your missing as this was so good.
Erin is a fabulous character. She’s strong and will fight for what she wants. As well as working hard at college she cleans Mr. Morris house twice a week to help with her tuition.
Blake Morris. Damn he’s hot. Scarred both on the inside and the outside he knows what it’s like to be at rock bottom. Once Erin entered his home and his life he knows he needs to sort himself out, he needs to fight for what he wants.
Fabulous twist on Beauty and the Beast. I seriously can’t wait to read part two of this duet.
I am never disappointed when reading a book by this author. The storyline was so realistic and so well written. The author made you feel the characters pain in such away that you relate to the story. Such a good read.
Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite fairy tale and I am a huge Skye Warren fan. Combine these two and you have magic!
The opening of this book was shocking *singing* in the most delightful way! In the first few pages, I knew I was in for a wildly sexy read, and this book delivered!
Erin and Blake have a unique love story. The young, beautiful, and bright graduate student, Erin, who was in desperate need of money cleaned houses. She worked for Blake, a former military man whose face was half burned from an IED. He is a lost and angry soul who had no desire to return to the living world until Erin. Blake’s brilliant mind and chiseled body were brought back into life through his relationship with Erin. Their relationship was a taboo one. Blake was fifteen years her senior and a professor at her university. I love Skye’s ability to add taboo elements to her books that still have you completely rooting for the characters. There is also a glorious amount of kink, which I will let you dear read discover on your own. When using taboo or kinks Skye never makes her stories feel creepy or wrong, which is essential to me! It only adds an element of fun and naughtiness! It creates a new type of intimacy between the characters.
The way Erin looks at Blake makes the reader forget his beastly looks and disfigurement. We hear other people make fun of him, but she is loyal and loving from the beginning. Their feelings for one another is merely beautiful. Blake cared for her in a way she had never felt. These two people who completed the other were constantly struggling with their inner demon of self-doubt. Both feared, for extremely different reasons, that they were not good enough for the other. At one time each had been abandoned and made to feel worthless. They both carried that scar that made them fit so wonderfully together.
I loved part one of this love story. There was angst, struggles, villains, secrets, and lots of super hot lovemaking. I’m sure there is a more eloquent way of phrasing it, but it is what it is. I know this is labeled as erotic romance, but this is not erotic in the way that some authors take it. This story is about love. Sex in their relationship is based on mutual respect, understanding, the desire to comfort, and show the depth of their feelings to the other.
Be warned this ending was heartbreaking. Which leaves me to the negative. I feel there is really only one, this duet should have been one book. I was lucky to have both books at one time, so it wasn’t too bad for me! Lol I can’t imagine those who read it as a serial. Due to its original serial nature there seem to be minimal gaps in the story, which is more apparent in book two, Falling for the Beast, but overall this is a very minor complaint.
Get ready to fall in love with Erin and Blake and know book two is only a week away!
I enjoyed this modern-day twist to the classic Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, and with the additional taboo of a student/professor romance, it really added an extra thrill! The attraction between Erin and Blake is evident from the beginning, so much so that the story dives right into the sexual, leaving the emotional connection and character history to play catch up as the story progresses. Both Erin and Blake have pasts that have damaged their trust and confidence, and the comfort they had found in one another becomes tested by their insecurities and those seeking to destroy their new found love. I’m looking forward to the conclusion of this duet, and hoping that the second book has a little more balance between the storyline and the sex. The heat factor is definitely off the charts in this one!
Listened to on audio: The narration duo of Lia Langola and Stephen Dexter was a great fit to these characters. From both points of view, each narrator brought out the gruff, beastly vibe of Blake and the sweet, passionate side of Erin.

Love the story. Like the message between the lines.
I enjoyed this book. The story was entertaining and it held my interest well. Both of the main characters were complex and I liked them a lot as a couple. There was no denying the sparks of attraction and the generous amounts of heat generated by the intimate scenes shared by these two. The storyline offers a entertaining blend of drama, heat, tension and emotional turmoil. My one complaint was that I felt that there was a big imbalance in the emotional connection between Blake and Erin. Even with Blake’s baggage and anxieties I never had one single second of doubt about the intensity and depths of his feelings for Erin. But, I could not really say the same for her. As the story unfolded, I tried very hard to cut her some slack because of her baggage, her mother’s painful history and the differences in their economic situation. Unfortunately I just ended up feeling that yes, she was attracted to him and yes, she wanted him, but I never felt she needed him or for that matter that she even wanted to. I do hope this changes in book two because right now I’m not so sure she truly deserves Blake. Please be aware that there is a cliffhanger in preparation of book two at the end of this book. This book features dual narration which is a bonus that I always appreciate and I thought that Mr. Dexter and Ms. Langola did a excellent job. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
I’m sorry I just did not like this book. I could not get past the first chapter
Very hot and lots of drama
4 stars overall, 4 stars story, 5 stars narration
This audiobook is beautifully written and narrated, but it is not quite my style. I really enjoyed parts of the book, but the high number of sex scenes and the intensity of the New Adult type of drama were too much for my preference. I prefer between one and five bedroom scenes per book, but this one seemed like it had over a dozen, in a 5.5-hour audiobook! About halfway through, I just started skipping the sex scenes because I was getting bored with how Erin and Blake hit the bedroom every 24 hours or less. Also, there was too much relationship drama for me. I am not a New Adult fan, and I did not realize that this duet series fell squarely into that category. I prefer that if the emotions are constantly up and down like in this book, then it should be balanced with a bunch of humor. However, this is an emotional rollercoaster with basically no humor.
I loved many things about the storyline. First, I did love how Erin and Blake started their sexual relationship. It was a very hot first few chapters! Holey moly! Secondly, I like the elements which made the book into a modern Beauty and the Beast tale. Blake was scarred by an IED attack while on a tour of duty as a Marine. He is a highly intelligent man who had been previously headed toward a career in politics like his father, but instead became a recluse. Erin is a poor but beautiful and smart graduate student cleaning houses part time. Next, I really liked how the author correctly portrayed the structure, atmosphere, and classes of a graduate program. I was impressed with the suitably intellectual nature of a graduate class’s discussion material. Finally, I liked Erin and Blake. They are basically good people, and the author is very good at showing the reader the pair’s thoughts and feelings. In addition, their different but equally strong insecurities made these two an ironically good match.
The duet narration by Stephen Dexter and Lia Langola was excellent. The male and female narrators were enthusiastic, skilled, and committed to their work. They were both great at pacing, emoting, and sex scenes. My only tiny criticism is that Stephen Dexter did not get the heroine’s voice quite right.
I received a free audiobook copy via Audiobook Obsession, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Stephen Dexter and Lia Langola really brought this story to life. It jumped out of my headphones and sucked me right in.
I loved this story. It goes so in depth into their relationship that it really pulled me in. And oh my gosh is it steamy!!! Such a good use of an old tale but also worked further into and made more. It just works. The only thing I didn’t like is the ending. It’s not a cliffhanger, it just stops! Most annoying!!! Now I need the next one….
Beauty and the Professor is a modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I have to admit to cheating on this a bit. I read this book many years ago when it was a serial novella. I was easily drawn to the Professor not in sympathy but as the greedy bookslut I am. I fall for most heroes and Professor Morris made it so easy.
The sexy, scarred and insanely intelligent man has a spirit that was crushed. A mind that’s been on lock down and a physical presence he hides from the world. Some would say he is broken. I would then say he’s mine. I’m totally a fixer when it comes to broken men. Blake isnt a project though. He’s a piece of my heart that I haven’t seen in years.
I enjoyed reliving my Beauty and the Professor experience while appreciating the new “angle.” Listening to the narrators bring these characters to life gave me a new appreciation. It didn’t hurt any less all ready knowing what was coming though! I still fought my emotions and couldn’t help but want to strangle something.
Enjoy this tale of woe and don’t forget to grab your happily ever after too!
The story grabbed me right from the first chapter and held on tight all the way through! Excellent characters; Blake was just powerful enough to be steamy without the grading ego that usually goes hand in hand with that sort of alpha hero. He was wounded but not weak. His total dedication to Erin won me instantly!
And I was right there rooting for Erin too. For a college student character,I found her mature and intriguing.
Very steamy book, that masterfully didn’t cut on plot or the heat but balanced them both perfectly.
Recommend. To clarify, the loss of one star was because the ending felt unnatural and thrown in awkwardly to justify a second book ,which is my only complaint. Thus said I have already one click purchased the second book
Great book, steamy storyline kept me turning the pages.
Good read. Great example of looking past ones outward appearance.
I wish that it had not ended abruptly-you have to purchase the 2nd book to finish the story… it does not stand alone.
From the first page this book was a toe curling turn on while still managing to be pretty tame. While the author seems to be aiming for a beauty and the beast-esque theme here it falls flat because it comes across as someone trying to portray a theme based on a story they’ve never heard or seen.
But overlooking that, my biggest problem with this is that it is not a stand-alone novel. It’s not listed as being part of a series (but even series novels should be able to be read individually), however the author leaves the ending very much like just another chapter ending, you turn the page only to realize there isn’t another. It’s a massive screw you to the reader–a “sorry, I know you wanted a conflict resolution and conclusion, but I was too lazy”.
Overall I really enjoyed this book, and I am hypercritical of just about everything, but that ending really irritated me, which was the reason for the 4 stars instead of the 5.
wow, the audiobook starts off with a strong and vivid steamy scene! Loved it! Liked how she had to be the aggressor. The whole book had some great steamy scenes throughout. I feel like they kept getting in their way. I mentally understood the ending but emotionally…there had better be another book! I absolutely love these narrators paired together and as usual they did not let me down. Fantastic voices to listen too, with passion in every line.
