Oh Those Highwood Sisters!!
Admittedly I have read a little bit out of order, so I knew where the outcome of Beauty and the Blacksmith landed Diana and Aaron. Nonetheless, I loved it all the more.
This is a well-written, entertaining, steamy, historical romance novella. It has a heart-warming romance, a little mystery, a surprise guest, and a happily ever after ending. It is written with Ms. Dare’s trademark wit and humor, and is part of the Spindle Cove series. This novella can easily be read and enjoyed as a stand alone, but it is even more entertaining when read in order. I am looking forward to reading the next entry in this outstanding series with great anticipation.
Refreshing
If her mother has her way, Lady Diana Highwood will marry soon, and marry well. In a refreshing role reversal, all Diana wants is to be a good wife and partner to a good man. Like Aaron Dawes. Town blacksmith. I loved everything about this audiobook! The narration was perfect, and the story was lovely.
I think I have read every single book by this author, but sometimes her novellas are my favorite. This book revisits some characters who had a smaller part in one of her main novels, and gives them their own happily ever after. I love the heart and soul of this book and found the action so relatable that it was emotional for me. I always enjoy a little angst with my happy ending, and this book gives you that and so much more. Tessa Dare is a star in the sky of historicals and regency romances, and no one should miss out on her books.
Like all Tessa Dare books, this novella is well written, romantic, and sentimental. The Lady marries the blacksmith and he does all he can to love her and keep her comfortable. I did laugh at her inability to cook, but he took care of that, too.
He make her wedding ring, and even her haughty mother had to admit it was beautiful! Although from different classes, they made it work!
Re-reading this for the first time in years and it’s still delightful! I was surprised at what a quick story it was…definitely left me wanting more!
Would Diana, a higher stationed young woman stand up to her mother and not marry a duke? For 2 years Miss Highwood is smitten with the local blacksmith, and keeps her secret. But even her sister eventually notices. . . Would Aaron, allow Diana to forego her higher station and “settle” for just a lowly blacksmith? There’s some steam coming from the smithy’s, and it’s not all because of work. . . This is a perplexing story, but nicely accomplished.
Beauty and the Blacksmith was the first book in the Spindle Cove Series as well as by this author that I have read and I will definitely be reading more. The characters and story were really well written and I loved seeing how the story came together in the end. Aaron and Diana were fun characters and I enjoyed seeing their relationship unfold.
