Ember Walsh is a trusting soul with the quiet beauty of her late mother, who perished in a mysterious car crash when Ember was three. A little tomboyish from being raised by her father, Ember packs a punch when a stranger gets pushy with her in a bar, catching the steely blue eyes of a tall, gorgeous tattooed man — Trace Montgomery. Still damaged from her last disastrous relationship and warned … warned off the bad boy by friends, Ember fights the smoldering heat that Trace sparks in her when he begins shadowing her like a dark angel.
Burdened by a lifetime of horror and heartbreak, amateur fighter Trace doesn’t want to want Ember. His deep self-loathing keeps him from having any meaningful relationships, but Ember is an itch he can’t scratch. The two push and pull, slowly crumbling their walls, seemingly brought together by fate, because the turmoil that haunts their pasts is interlinked in undeniable ways. But can these two fighters finally lay down their arms?
In Beautifully Damaged, L.A. Fiore delves into deep scars and lets love and forgiveness uncover redemption.

OMG……this book was AMAZING. I felt like this book was 2 books in one. The first half of the book was all about Trace and Ember’s love story and all the drama they went through to be together. I really liked the pace of their relationship. It was fun watching them getting to know each other. I absolutely loved Trace, he is for sure going on my book boyfriend list. I realize he was damaged but underneath all that turmoil was such a sweet and wonderful sole. Trace’s past and trauma was horrific and sad, I can completely understand why he was the way he was. There was one point that I was so disappointed in Trace but I am glad that shortly after i found out I was completely wrong and Trace was totally redeemed in my eyes. Ember was an outstanding character. The author made her seem weak and frail in the beginning but she proved to be anything but. She was such a strong force for Trace. They truly did compliment each other well. Trace and Ember were so easy to connect with, I felt everything they were feeling in the book. The secondary characters were also amazing….they were such a great support system for Trace and Ember. I would absolutely love to see a book for either Rafe or Lucien or even Trent. I truly feel there is more of a story there.
The second half of the book also talked about Trace and Ember’s love story but it was so much more. This was the part of the book that really dove into their pasts. The information that was uncovered was astonishing. The twists and turns that this book had keep me turning the page all the way to the end. I thought I had everything figured out and then all of a sudden something new would be uncovered and I was completely wrong. I am 100% happy with how this story turned out. I loved the epilogue!!!!! The only negative that I had was I wish I would’ve found out what happened to Dane and his family. That is one thing I felt was unfinished.
I would definitely recommend this book to EVERYONE!!!! especially if you enjoy a great love story with some great suspense and twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end. This book in my opinion had just the right amount of steam to add that little something special and it didn’t distract from the story. This is for sure one of my favorite books and I will read it again and again. A MUST READ!!!!!
Fell in love with these characters. The background mystery was a bonus to this love story and really tied all these people together. I have not missed any of this authors books since my first read and will read any and all books she writes!
This book came highly recommended by my cousin and I immediately one-clicked it and I’m so grateful I did. I loved Trace and Ember’s story. I enjoyed the writers style of writing, her character development. There was so many twist and turns throughout the entire book that it kept my focus. I loved that Ember wasn’t weak or naive but strong, brave and loving. Trace was broken, damaged but full of passion and had such a great heart.
This book was beyond amazing and I can’t wait to start the next one.
Overall, the story was good. I was a little put off because I kept getting a Fifty Shades meets Beautiful Disaster vibe. Maybe if I had read this back when it was originally published I wouldn’t have been.
Honestly, I liked Trace and Ember together, but some aspects of their relationship didn’t sit well with me. And if she were my friend, I wouldn’t have been telling her to go talk to him. I would’ve told her to flatten his motorcycle tires, better yet, I would’ve done it for her. I absolutely hated the fact that she sat around in his apartment while he stayed out all night and paraded Heidi in front of her. I get the whole “he’s pushing me away” thing. But that was not pushing away, it was blatant disrespect and (faux) cheating. It burned. I wanted to smack Ember. I wish she had left sooner, put her foot down and said no more.
I wasn’t expecting that ending. I’m glad it worked out the way it did. And everything was finally solved and everyone got CLOSURE. Because they all sure as hell needed it.
Great book, absolutely worth 5 stars!!
What a great book. It had action and a great loved story. I definitely recommend this book and this author.
Beautiful story. Two broken people come together to heal each other. You go through the emotions with the characters. I loved it!
Description: “Shy” girl meets boy. She instantly falls in love and must protect him from his past. (This is what I came to realize after reading some of it.)
First of all, what, in the hell, was this author thinking publishing an unfinished story. Yes, I only got 10 % of the way in, but you have got to be joking! The characters have absolutely no personality. In addition, the grammar is terrible, no one stuck to what we had been told about them, and the plot was silly. I just do not know what she was thinking. I noticed some other reviews talked about her spelling, but I did not see many errors of that form, but maybe I did not get far enough for that.
Oh, I have the perfect example of this book! At least grammar and the story line I see coming. It is a weak version of 50 Shades of Grey. Which, in my opinion, is hard to beat seeing as that book needs all kinds of help in its own right. Regardless, you get the picture. Here is an excellent example of what you can expect to find. This is written as one paragraph.
“I pulled my eyes from the avenging angel before me and looked into the terror-filled gaze of my unwanted suitor as my fear was rapidly replaced with anger.”
Also we should do a quick review of when to change paragraphs.
When a new character comes along
A new event happens
A new idea is introduced
The setting changes
A new person is speaking
Time moves forward or backward by a lot
The “camera” moves
When you want to focus heavily on something
Not sure about what you think, but I do believe that none of those fits this supposed “paragraph.”
Did anyone else notice that she smashed three sentences into one? In my opinion, it should have read something like this:
“I pulled my eyes from my avenging angel. I looked into the terror-filled gaze of my unwanted suitor. With the hulking man behind me, my fear was rapidly replaced with anger.”
Boom! A legit paragraph. You’re welcome, L.A. Flore. Feel free to use my edited version for your next story.
Next thing I would like to touch on, personality and telling instead of showing. Telling instead of showing is something I am really working on this year. It is a mistake I made in every book I have written thus far. Anyway, I recently read that when you focus on something so much you start to recognize it around you more often. Well, I am not sure if that is why I noticed that the author was happy to tell you how tough and utterly tomboyish Ember (main chick) is only to have her have no spine when it comes to people around her.
Seriously, it was like, “Allow me to tell you how daddy raised me to be a tough girl. That is until some drunk guy grabs my arm. Now I am suddenly unable to help myself. Wait, now that the hot womanizer is around me I can do anything a guy can do.” I mean, come on! No one is like that. The main guy’s personality is not much better. “Let me tell you how rich and successful I am. I also can have any girl I want, and I totally use that to my advantage! Wait, but big shock (that is so not a cliche, shut up 50 Shades!) I am damaged, and only this girl with no personality can save me!”
Overall, this book has poor grammar, horrible “characters,” and cliches. Keep in mind, that is only the first 10 % of the book.
