Alpha (noun): 1) Having the highest rank in a dominance hierarchy 2) The most powerful man in a group3) Liam BlackHe was a stranger to me, a dark and dangerous presence who materialized from the shadows one rainy night to save me from a vicious attack. I didn’t know his name or where he was from. All I knew was that the only place I’d ever felt safe was in his arms. But safety is an illusion. And …
But safety is an illusion.
And not every savior is a hero.
And—as I’d soon find out—having an alpha save your life comes with a price.
Liam Black wanted something from me in return.

Holy cow another awesome book by JT Geissinger!! I devoured Liam and Tru’s story. Liam the wolf was all sexy growly alpha. And just imagining the Irish brogue (is this going to be in audio????) gave me shivers! We don’t know much about him in the beginning but it is automatically known that he wants Tru. Truvy Sullivan is the waitress that has been serving him at the local diner for the past 11 months, he actually refuses to be seated by anyone else. Not much is said but his silent stare speaks volumes, but that is all that transpires between the two. Things definitely change after Tru is attacked and is placed under Liam’s protection.
I’ve mentioned that Liam is the silent growly alpha male (with that sexy Irish brogue) but you will now see how truly powerful he is and once he starts talking, watch out! He has tried to stay away from Tru for her own good, but she really is unforgettable. Tru is an amazing heroine. She is smart, strong and a seeker of justice. She sees herself as the quiet introvert, but with Liam she is a chatterer. The banter between these two was fantastic. The chemistry was off the charts, like seriously. There are some twists and turns that definitely kept me turning the pages. I absolutely loved this book. I really hope there will be a story for a particular secondary character in this book! 5-stars and I highly recommend it!!
Beautifully Cruel is a brand new stand alone romance by J.T. Geissinger. This is one of those books that I had a pretty good idea going in that I was going to love. I devoured this book. I couldn’t put it down. So yes, I can say that my intuition was correct!
Truvy (Tru) Sullivan is twenty four years old. She’s in her final year of law school in Boston and works as a waitress at Buddy’s Diner. For eleven months the man in black whom Tru has nicknamed The Wolf, has been coming in to the diner. He sits and drinks a cup of coffee while staring at her, then he leaves. Tru has no idea who he is or why he keeps coming in, why he never talks to her. But then he saves her. She had no idea who he was. But in his arms, she somehow just knew she was safe.
“Wolves might mate for life, but they’re still dangerous wild animals.”
I don’t want to tell you much about Liam Black. I want you to discover it as you read the book just as I did. I will tell you that this man is sexy as sin. He has an Irish brogue, he’s tough as nails, but can also be tender and loving. And he is obsessed with Tru Sullivan.
“She’s my match. The yang to my yin. The light to my darkness. She’s what I didn’t know I’d been missing all these years, a soft place to fall.”
I loved this book! Usually it’s the sexy hero that I want to go on and on about, and believe me, I could with Liam. But in this book, it was Tru that had me falling in love. This woman is full of snark, and stands up to Liam like no one else has ever dared. She’s smart and strong and so darn courageous. You could probably classify this as a dark romance but really, Tru had me smiling so much. She was the perfect match for Liam.
J.T. Geissinger never fails to amaze me with every book she releases. I know every time that I will be in for a surprise. And with this book, she did it again. She gave us characters to once again fall in love with, who we’ll continue to think about long after the final page.
“I had it all under control. But, I never expected you.”
Beautifully Cruel is the newest J.T. Geissinger standalone with her signature alpha hero and heroine. This is one of the things that I love about J.T.’s books, her heroines are just as strong as her heroes, just in different ways. This story is Liam, an enigmatic man who visits Truvy at the diner she works at for nearly a year. Never orders food, just coffee, and never talks until one night Tru takes it upon herself to get to know her wolf better. It’s that action that has Tru entering into a world that she isn’t prepared for and falling for a man she should run from.
Tru is a great character because she is a mix of strength and vulnerability, totally feminine but with a backbone of steel. Smart both the book sense and the worldly sense, she makes the right decisions and isn’t immediately swayed by emotions once she gets caught in Liam’s world. Liam is a combination of warrior and scholar, boss and servant. He is capable of violence to save Tru and patience when she needs it from him.
The story is almost entirely centered around on the two leads as they perform an emotional dance of will they, won’t they with Liam trying to reel the sensibly reluctant Tru into his web. Scenes of heartbreak, as the two open up to each other are interwoven with scenes of seduction that is guaranteed to raise the temperature of your reader and scenes of suspense as to what Liam will do as the twenty-eight days looms.
Beautifully Cruel will snag your mind from the start and not let go until the last so be prepared to not look up from the book once you start.
Holy crap was that an intense read. For almost a year there has been a man that always sits in Tru’s section of the diner and only orders coffee. He does not talk but constantly keeps his eyes on her. “Wolf” is the nickname she gives him and it is not until she finally gets the courage to talk to him. One conversation leads her on a journey filled with lies, deception and chaos when she gets caught up in the web of destruction that Liam Black is the center of. Are things really what they seem with the Irish Mob Boss? And will one month in his bed be enough to satisfy her? I never knew which direction this story was going in and I only knew I was along for the ride as I could not put it down. Another fabulous read from J.T. Geissinger that wil not disappoint.
Woo-wee! This was scorching hot! I’m telling you, J.T Geissinger knows how to get a reader hot and bothered. The oozing chemistry and sexual tension between Liam and Tru can be felt through the pages, and the back and forth banter was perfect. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about Tru. I thought she was going to be a pushover, too native and immature for me but she proved me wrong. I love a leading lady with a backbone and she wasn’t afraid to tell Liam what it is. It was a fun, steamy read and the only downside was the instant love. It wasn’t my favorite (never is in any book really) but it wasn’t much of a struggle to bypass it once I read how compatible the leading characters were. “Beautifully Cruel” is definitely worth checking out.
Beautifully Cruel is J.T Geissinger’s newest standalone novel. I have read many of J.T’s books and this is definitely one of my favorites! It’s dark, steamy, and mysterious.
Eleven months. It’s been eleven months since Tru first served coffee to the mystery man who the staff of Buddy’s Diner calls Wolf. A man who comes alone after midnight and only orders coffee in her section. He refuses to even sit if she isn’t working. She doesn’t know his name since they never talk but his stare makes her flush. All. Over. Then after a few nights of a few sentences between and especially one scary one, changes everything. Now, she only feels safe in his arms. He wants her there but his life doesn’t have room for relationships. Those can get the ones he cares about killed. But, he needs her. She is different. The moment he saw her he knew that and he knew he should stay away but he couldn’t. He was a man with an addiction. She was his drug.
She didn’t know what was happening. One minute she was outside of the diner and the next she was sitting with him. A man she trusted even without a name. She wasn’t shy around him like she was with other strangers. She was confident, strong, sassy, and not taking any of his shit. And he seems to like it. He told her she should say no to a proposal he had in mind which made her want to say yes. What will happen if she listens to him?
I can’t say shit without spoiling!! Ugh. I can’t say much but I can say that I loved these two. He is alpha but he has layers. They are full of passion, wit, and humor. She is a badass. He definitely met his match when he found her. Together, they discover the unexpected in each other. I loved it!! And did I mention, Liam Black has an accent!? Yum!!!
Overall…the writing is fantastic. It’s full of suspense, passion, laughter, love, and books. The characters are strong and you can feel their connection. Just awesome.
Quotes:
In a low, husky voice, he says, “By the way, lass…my favorite ice cream flavor is pistachio.”
“You don’t have a man, then.” Wow. How he managed to make that sound like, “Bend over the table and lift up your skirt,” I’ll never know. Carla was right: the man is fire.
“You smug son of a bitch,” I say, seething. “Don’t think I won’t shoot you, because I might.”
“Maybe you could let me give you a few more orgasms first, though. Just a thought.”
WOW!! That was my first reaction! I loved every single thing about this newest book by the incredibly talented JT Geissinger, she sure knows how to take a reader on an unbelievable ride! Everything from the story, to the characters-main and supporting, to the passion, to the twists-it was pure goodness!! But this couple, Liam and Truvy, totally stole my heart! I was surprised to be falling for him so quickly given his bossy demeanor but sigh, he really got me. Probably the Irish accent, yup that and everything else. I can definitely see how Tru got hooked so fast. She is so awesome, I just adore her ramblings. They seem on the surface to be about as opposite as it gets, but looks were sure deceiving in this case. They connected on so many levels and I just LOVED their banter and honestly their interactions of any variety! Their story was amazing and I love them so much!
Beautifully Cruel is undeniably, decadently hot. It is the over budget chocolates you have always wanted to try but can’t justify the purchase. The wickedly attractive wolf has an Irish accent that the mere thought of has me panting and in need of a wardrobe change.
JT Geissinger must have the similar tastes or she stole my fantasies! An Irish mafia man… (bites lip to holdback the moan) i am literal putty once Liam got done with me.
The intense attraction, the crazy connection, and the outright brazen desire had me fanning myself. (Also did I mention the Irish accent!?! Or the fact he whispers naughty things in Gaelic!?! I am a puddle!) Liam will take you down with a few whispered words but Tru is a freaking rockstar!
This feisty female is all bite and enough bark to make even hardened criminals pause. She has Tru grit!
I’m torn between loving and hating Mrs. Geissinger. I absolutely love these two and hate that the book ended. So I guess I will just sit here and stew. And before you ask…he’s mine!
4.5 stars
Just AMAZING! This author just keeps continuing to astound me with the depths of her stories. I love that she gets that just like life isn’t black and white, neither is love and even happy ever afters. Liam was just a fantastic broody alpha walking along minding his own business when he crosses paths with Tru, who was also not out looking for love. When cupid shoots that arrow though, what choice do they have? I loved Liam because I am a sucker for dirty talking alphas (especially with Irish accents) but I really loved Tru for her heart, spunk, and sass. She’s the perfect match for an alpha who has armies of people bowing to his every whim. I kind of feel bad for Diego, maybe the author will feel bad about his unrequited crush and give him his own smart, strong, sexy as h&$l female to fall in love with? Ms. Geissinger knows how to keep you coming back for more!
