She’s always been his safe place to land.Jensen has shared a special bond with Tuck for as long as she can remember, their friendship a language that never needed words. Jensen and Tuck, I have been waiting for you and you did not disappoint!! They try being friends with benefits, but before long pesky feeling start getting in the way
This was a wonderful addition to this series. Ms. Cowles, you truly have a gift! I loved it!
4.5 stars!!! Loved Jensen and Tuck 🙂
Catherine has once again made me see why she is one of my favorite new authors!
For anyone who has read this series (and if you haven’t, I hardly recommend it!!), I was patiently waiting for Jensen and Tuck’s story <3 I always felt the pull between then and couldn’t wait for this book!
We know Jensen is still feeling guilty for everything that happened to Taylor and Walker in Beautifully Broken Pieces. She just can’t get past the guilt. Tuck has been there for her but she has stayed to herself. Tuck we learn a little more about. He is dealing with some issues with his father that makes him think he is no good for any woman. He has been in love with Jensen and Jensen and been in love with him, yet the two of them keep it to themselves.
While all of this is going on, there is danger lurking. With all of that going on, I loved seeing Jensen and Tuck get closer and finally give into what they were feeling. Now the question is, how does it all play out? Will Jensen and Tuck get their HEA?
This is one of my favorite series and I can’t wait for the next book. We are introduced to some new characters and they’re story is up next. Knowing Catherine, it will be another hit.
Highly anticipated story for Jensen and Tuck! After meeting both of these characters in the first book in the series, I could not WAIT to get their stories and was even more excited in finding out it was one in the same! Unknowingly playing a role in the attempted murder of her brother and his girlfriend, Jensen has become reserved and untrusting of herself. In love with her brother’s best friend her entire life; while she couldn’t be with him romantically, they developed their own close friendship. Tuck has been in love with Jensen for as long as he can remember, with her being the one to keep his only secrets regarding his family life, and when he sees her withdrawing decides to take action. But after years of bubbling up, the chemistry and feelings hit a point and everything comes to the surface with these two. While keeping things under wraps, they also find themselves deep into the shootings of horses, which are near and dear to Jensen’s heart, and when the shooter sets their eyes on Jensen for getting involved, Tuck will stop at nothing to ensure her safety. I for one was shocked at who the shooter was, especially as we got to meet the people in town throughout the course of the book. This was such an explosive read and I was so happy to find these two together! Not only the plot and storyline, but also Catherine’s style of writing and attention to detail really makes this book for the reader! I can’t wait to see who is next in this series, but I’m positive that she won’t disappoint!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I can’t recommend this series and author enough. Beautifully Broken Spirit is book 3 in the Sutter Lake series. It’s a standalone contemporary romance with a dash of suspense and every book has kept me hooked every single time.
In this one we have Jensen and Tuck’s story, a best friend’s to lovers AND brother’s best friend trope. It was tortuous being around these two and they nearly had me pulling my hair out. They could easily play as the roles of a married couple, but it was tough for them to cross any lines in fear of ruining their relationship.
As far as the characters goes in this series, I didn’t quite connect with these two like I did the others. Tuck and Jensen were both amazing, don’t get me wrong, but there was something that kept me from loving them.
The suspense in this series always keeps me going, I can’t get enough of it! And I loved seeing how great their friendship was.
Love this series so much and can’t wait for more!
**I RECEIVED A COMPLIMENTARY READER’S COPY FROM SOCIAL BUTTERFLY PR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR CONTENT OF MY REVIEW**
I usually don’t dive into a new-to-me author series, regardless if they’re standalone stories or not, three books in, but I had been hearing great things about Catherine Cowles’ Sutter Lake series, and I was definitely intrigued by the synopsis of
Beautifully Broken Spirit, and the fact that I’m a total romance junkie when it comes to the best friend’s sister and friends-to-lovers’ tropes made me jump ahead to book three and see if Sutter Lake is a small town that I’d enjoying being in and getting to know its residents, and I can’t wholeheartedly say if this was a real place, I’d be there in a heartbeat.
I’m all about a character-driven story line – one that provides a clear perspective on all that the hero and heroine have endured, what they’re up against in the present, and why they, ultimately, make the decision to go all in with each other, even if the timing or circumstances aren’t ideal.
It’s not easy to convey a character’s longing in a way that resonates from the pages of the book, but Cowles does that with Tuck’s feelings for Jensen. He’s been there for her as her friend, never crossing the line because he respects Jensen’s brother, his best friend, too much and has very personal reasons for keeping everything plutonic…but there comes a point where he can no longer stop his desire or his need to claim her as his own and once that happens, it’s abundantly clear just how necessary they are for one another and just how amazing they can and will be, as long as they keep openly communicating and figure out a way to deal with the outside forces of stress that seem to be piling up around them.
Amidst Jensen and Tuck’s burgeoning relationship, there are a few complications that threaten to pull them apart before they can even really get started, which means that these two need to stay strong and know that their place is by each other’s side regardless of what anyone else says or does.
Catherine Cowles created a great backdrop for her characters in her Sutter Lake series, and now I need to go back and read the previous two books because this world and its cast of characters are exactly the kind of stories I enjoy reading.
4.5 Poison Apples
Another amazing book by Catherine Cowles. Jensen and Tuck’s story is one of a kind. I love how this book brings all the feels that you want. I love the words and how I was able to imagine every single character. I felt like I was in the story watching it happen.
Jensen is picture as the strong single mom but yet she has fears and guilt that she needs to overcome. As a single mother, Jensen wants the best for her son but she is living with guilt that is not her fault.
Tuck is the handsome best friend that grew up with Jensen and Walker. Tuck doesn’t feel like he is capable of loving someone or ever deserve someone’s love.
They are both perfect for each other but they don’t let their past go.
This is a must read and it will take you through a roller coaster of emotions.
I love it and can’t wait for more.
Tucker and Jenson were so much more then I could ever of dreamed up. Everything about their friendship that lead into their relationship make them as a couple so much more special. How they were together was something truly beautiful to read I couldn’t put this book down. Catherine Cowles has really hit this one out of the park. Every new book blows me away. How all her charterers come together just makes this series one of the best. A must read!
Romantic suspense at it’s best! Catherine has done it yet again! Her books, stories and cast of characters just keep getting better! Tuck and Jensen’s story is the perfect mix of small town, second chance, suspense, sass and steam! Love, love, love it!
I love taking chances on new authors and Catherine Cowles has been that author for me since her first book. But her Sutter Lake series is phenomenal, her attention to detail, allows her readers to form bonds with her characters and her ability to craft these worlds that suck readers in shows just how talented this lady is.
I have waited patiently for Beautifully Broken Spirit and the chance to read about Jensen and Tuckers story and Catherine has knocked this story out of the park. It hits every expectation I had, in fact it is down right amazing. Catherine has written a book that covers tropes that I love to read, and I have never found a book that pretty much covers 3 tropes in one book. That’s right peeps, you are getting three troupes in this book and let me tell you, the way in which Catherine has written Tuck and Jensen’s story, will enrapture your heart.
While Beautifully Broken Spirit is the third book in this story, you can pick up any book and be able to follow along. The novels are centred around the characters, so while you will see recurring characters pop up, you won’t feel lost at all.
I adored Tuck and Jensen’s story! This book gave me plenty of moments where I knew I would fall in love, whole heartedly with each character.
Jensen is such a strong woman, a single mom, who has given up on finding her happy ending or at the very least, doesn’t want any relationship. After all, her first relationship left her pregnant and her second one nearly got her brother and his fiancé killed (if I was her I’d have given up a long time ago).
Tucker was the lady’s man and her certainly lived up to his man. He’s that character that always brings a smile to your face. He adores Jensen’s son Noah and treasures his friendship with Jensen. But in his heart, he wants the one person that he knows he can’t have.
Their chemistry in this story was hard to deny and you could feel it start to build as the story developed. That is until one evening passion are ignited and suddenly everything changes. Of course, its not always smooth sailing for these two characters, they have their doubts and worries that the change in their friendship may create problems. So, you’ll have to read the book to find out whether this couple is able to whether the storm or not.
For me this is Catherine’s best book by far and I am waiting (not so patiently) for the next and final instalment to this amazing series. Catherine is able to create a world that sucks me in each time I revisit this series, my heart aches and soars when her characters find their happy endings. Her ability to write multiple tropes and the added suspense element to her stories is what keeps us readers engaged throughout the book shows her ability to write plots that are riveting and believable. Catherine is a gifted author who is growing with each book she writes. Her words are addictive and I am always left wanting more. I can’t recommend this series and author enough!!
This. Book.
I was so thrilled to get my hands on Tuck & Jensen’s story. It’s part of a series but could be read as a standalone. For optimal enjoyment I would suggest reading all of Catherine Cowles’ books in order to get the most out of the experience. The first book, Further To Fall, is not part of the series but it does contain a character whose own book kicks off the Sutter Lake series.
The unexpected twists and the connection between Tuck & Jensen will keep you reading without putting the book down. I have read all of the author’s books and they just keep getting better and better. I look forward to the next one in the series. I received a free copy of Beautifully Broken Spirit from Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving my review. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. Warning: tissues were needed. 🙂
Another amazing story by Catherine. I have been dying for tuck and Jensen’s book from the start and it did not disappoint. My heart broke for tuck but the ending was perfection and it’s always a bonus to see some more of walker. Looking forward to the next book of the series
OMG! Catherine Cowles you have done it again. I can not say enough great things about this book and about this series. With each book, I’ve fallen even more in love with the characters, the town, the writing and all the words. Each book I end with “this is my favorite” and then Catherine comes along and proves me wrong.
Jensen and Tuck’s story is just perfect….sigh…. I loved them, I hurt for them, and I cheered for them. It was a rollercoaster of a ride and I enjoyed every minute and every page.
I can’t wait to read the next book because Lord knows, I’m going to think that is my favorite but for now I will say Jensen and Tuck will always hold a special place in my heart.
Third time the charm?
Love has not been kind to Jensen. She dated 2 of the worst guys you can imagine. She is full of guilt and pain over those decisions, but is still stubborn as a mule.
Throughout all of the pain and mistakes has always been Tuck, the womanizer with a fear that he will become like his dad. Tuck loves Jensen, but never acts on it because of his fears, but when life forces them together will they lean on each other for strength? Or will Jensen wild spirit and both their regrets and fears come back to haunt them?
There are no words strong enough to explain how amazing this story is. I cannot recommend this book any more!
Book three in The Sutter Lake Series a well written story with a very good storyline. This is the first book by this Author that I have read, I now want to bread the rest of the books in this series. I enjoyed reading Jensen and Tucker’s story. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
by Catherine Cowles was absolutely BEAUTIFUL.
Jensen and Tucker are everything, I was swooning and loving them so freaking much. I love how Tuck was always there for Jensen no matter what, always having her back, and always protecting her. This friends to lovers book will leave you swooning like never before. What I loved most about this book was the patience, the love, and the peace. These two needed each other, but they didn’t rush into anything. Catherine shows us how they became best friends, fell in love, how both needed each other. This is a MUST read. You will fall so in love with Tucker.
My favorite book of the whole series. Catherine Cowles just outdid herself, this book was EPIC
I loved the connection between these two. Even as friends they had something special. Once they made the jump to more it was even better. They were meant to be together. Their relationship was beautifully written. I received an ARC for an honest review.
Beautifully Broken Spirit is the third book in the series Sutter Lake and this is my first read by Catherine Cowles. This is the story of Jensen and Tucker.
Friendship is the best foundation for a relationship.
Jensen is a wonderful woman who doesn’t have luck in love. The father of her child left her when he found out she is pregnant and her other serious relationship was with a man who almost killed her brother and his fiance. Because of her failed relationship, she decided to stay away from men. She decided to focus on her son Noah and her business.
Tucker (Tuck) is best friends with Jensen’s brother Walker and because of Walker, Tucker was always in the life of Jensen. He and Walker were overprotective with Jensen. Tucker was her protector and her friend and Jensen could always count on him to be there for her.
Love is always a risk. There’s no way around it. He’ll hurt you. You’ll hurt him. One of you might lose the other. But it will also be so beautiful, the light of it so bright, it’ll outshine all of the dark.
Jensen and Tucker have a beautiful bound and have always trusted each other and tell each other their secrets. They began their relationship as friends with benefits but both of them realize that their love for each other was always there. They only have to be brave enough to live their love.
Their relationship wasn’t easy to navigate because of Jensen’s family and because of someone from Jensen’s past is back in her life.
I loved Jensen and Tucker. What I loved the most at this book was Jensen’s family. I loved how they support each other and they take care of each other. I really liked Beautifully Broken Spirit.
Beautifully Broken Spirit was exactly that. Two lifelong friends that have been broken by life experiences and have discovered there bond was so much more. The way Tuck and Jensen relationship was written just took my breath away. It a beautifully written suspenseful small town romance. The interaction and descriptions in this book are on point and you feel like you are sitting right there taking in the scene. Catherine Cowles does it again with this story in the Sutton Lake series.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you are looking for your new favorite author, then you need not look any farther than Catherine Cowles. In her third book from the Sutter Lake Series, Beautifully Broken Spirit, Catherine brings us the story of single mom and owner of the Tea Kettle, Jensen Cole, and Tucker Harris, best friend to both Jensen and her brother.
Jensen and Tuck instantly captured my attention when they were secondary characters in Catherines first two Sutter Series books. My expectations were set high, and Catherine nailed it; their story was everything. She took some of my favorite tropes in romance and mashed them together to create a story that left my heart so full it was bursting. Beautifully Broken Spirit gives you angst, mystery, suspense, hope, and all the feels romance junkies crave. Catherine’s books have ruined me for anyone else’s as she continues to set an impossibly high bar.
A beautifully written friends to lovers story with the perfect amount of suspense. I love Catherine Cowles writing. She captures all the different characters and personalities and really makes you feel like you are a part of the story.
Jensen and Tuck have been friends forever but never crossed ‘that’ line. You could tell they weren’t meant to be for each other as the story developed. I’m so happy they gave their relationship a chance even though they both were trying to fight the strong feelings and chemistry they had. I’m so happy with how this ended and can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
