Heartwarming, romantic and with an added bit of suspense, this story had me glued to every page! Catherine Cowles, meet your newest super fan.
A small-town romance that gripped me from the very first page. I fell in love with these characters, with the writing, and with this unexpected story. I can’t recommend it enough! 6 Stars!
I absolutely devoured this book in a day seriously like a few hours. It sucks you in and you don’t want to stop reading it. My heart hurt for Taylor, she is going through some tough times and is distancing herself from everyone. Walker is amazing he is patient with Taylor but once he knows she the one for him he gives her space but he goes after her too. He is sweet, caring, and absolutely loving. You fall in love with him and his whole family especially as they start to help bring Taylor out of her funk. Then there is a underlying mystery happening that makes you even more sucked into the story. It was like reading a romance with a side of Criminal Minds. I loved it so much and this author is seriously amazing at telling stories. Each book gets better and better, I also enjoyed getting to see more of the characters from further to fall.
Yes! I’ve found a new favorite author. There’s so much depth to Taylor and Walker and I teared up a few times reading this. Plus the cast of secondary characters are wonderful and I’m so looking forward to making my way through this series.
If you love emotional romances with great character development, sizzling chemistry and suspense too, then I highly recommend this book!
* I received an ARC from Facebook but am leaving an honest and voluntary review *
I haven’t read Catherine Cowles’s work before, but that beautiful cover grabbed my attention straight away.
“I’m broken, Walker.”
“Well, then all your beautifully broken pieces are mine.”
Walker is such a gentleman, with his own broken pieces. Taylor is a beautiful soul, broken by her grief. They try to fight their attraction to each other – which makes for a delicious slow burn. When they do finally cave they are explosive, passionate and just perfect for each other.
The other characters are just as lovable, if not more so, therefore I am really looking forward to reading the next installment and seeing who it is about.
There is a HUGE twist in this story and I didn’t see it coming. It left me speechless and completely in shock! Well done on that one!
From the very beginning, Taylor and Walker’s chemistry sizzles on the pages. Taylor fights it for as long as she can as she tries to find peace and mend her broken heart.
Walker was perfect. I instantly fell for him. He’s loyal, caring, and sexy as hell. He’s a cop too! Who can resist a man in uniform?
The best part of the book is I had no idea who the killer was until it was revealed. I was eager to find out who it was making Beautifully Broken Pieces a page turner.
When Taylor decides to make a life altering move, the fun begins. She’s looking for quiet while she tries to put the pieces of her broken world apart. A certain cop who’s impossible to ignore makes that difficult. Their chemistry sparks from the first time they’re on the pages together. The push and pull between Taylor and Walker is electric and undeniable.
Walker is the kind of hero who steals your heart and doesn’t let it go. He’s kind, sexy, and loves hard, especially his family. And who can resist a man in uniform?
It isn’t just the romance that makes this book a page turner. I literally had no idea who was the killer until it was revealed. Prepare to be surprised, to laugh, to cry, and to fall in love.
Wow, wow, wow!! Catherine did such an amazing job on this book!!
Taylor and Walker are so prefect together. They both have lost someone close to them and during this amazing, heartfelt, tearful, happy, funny at times, beautiful story they heal each other. Walker will do anything for Taylor to feel love again, to feel safe again. If you havent read this book you really should hurry up and get it!!
Walker and Taylor are both very engaging characters and are surrounded by an entire cast of interesting characters. The story moves at a fast pace, but not too fast. The timing of events is presented in such a way that you don’t want to put the book down. You have got to find out what’s around the corner. Walker is one of the hometown golden boys, Taylor is an LA/Texas transplant. Their connection is immediate, but not in a “this is too farfetched” way. The relationship actually proceeds at a pretty normal rate while the peace and calm of the small town of Sutter Lake are overtaken by the fear and panic of a serial killer in their midst.
I’m usually pretty good at figuring out whodunit, but Ms. Cowles doesn’t drop many hints. At least, not until she actually wants you to figure it out. Even then, there is more to the story… This is a very well done romantic suspense!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it. The two main characters are both so likable and when each of their back stories are told you just want to see them happy. The secondary characters add so much to the story that I felt the little town, good friends and aw moments throughout. The story flow moves right along making it hard to set aside. The interactions with all the characters made the mystery part work very well. I appreciated the author leaving nothing unanswered and I can’t wait for more from these characters.
Upon reading the blurb I went in thinking I knew what this story was going to be about and what was going to happen. Man was I wrong there was so much more than just two people falling in love! This is a story about two people who came together after tremendous loses in their lives. It had heartbreak, laughter & even heart pounding moments. Such a wonderful read when you can connect to the characters. I have to say Gran (Irma) is by far my favorite
Story of hope, new beginnings and raw emotions. I am absolutely gutted from every emotion imaginable in the best possible way. Words cannot adequately describe how amazing this story is. Taylor and Walker were beautiful characters each dealt hands that needed to be dealt with in their own ways. Mix in suspense and drama and things get even more interesting. Romance readers who love to feel what they read and want an edge of their seat story need to read this.
Two broken hearts, who find a way to mend each other
Loss is a horrible thing. Something Taylor Lawson knows too well. When she loses the only family she has, she decides to find solace alone in a small town. Walker Cole is trying to move on after a loss of his own. He hold all relationships at arms length, not sure if he can handle commitment. Until the beautiful blonde walks into his life and make him want more. Taylor is scared to have anyone close to her, out of fear they will leave. Both are broken but can they love each others broken pieces? 5 star read! This is my first book by Catherine and I’m going to be needing more soon.
Beautifully Broken Pieces was my first read from author Catherine Cowles and I must say that her writing and the plot truly captivated me.
I’m loving more and more stories based on the country and without alphaholes in it. It’s like a breath of fresh air! So, with this being said, we can conclude that I really enjoyed this book.
I loved the way Walker and Taylor’s relationship evolved. Walker’s ways to capture her heart were definitely beautiful and romantic, after everything Taylor went through.
There are a lot of mystery plotted that gave the story a good dose of suspense, and I loved the secondary characters! I’m even cheering for a couple that I think would work great together, so lets just say I cant wait to read the next book in the series and see if I’m right or wrong!
Wow! What an absolutely beautiful story! This touched my soul to the point that my heart hurt, grieved, broke was healed by all within the pages of this book!
Taylor is drowning in the care and concern her friends wrap around her. After a great personal loss, she just wants to be alone. Her heart hurts and she is living a life of fear. Moving to Sutter Lake is the perfect solution. Until a local cop begins to worm his way in and she comes face to face with those fears.
Walker has experienced his own loss, one that pushed him into the job he now performs. When he meets Taylor he recognizes the look in her eyes and sets out to help allieviate the pain she carries. But he’s got a hard row to hoe to get there because Taylor isn’t letting anyone in and it’s going to take a lot of patience and persistence to get through to her.
I loved how caring Walker was with Taylor. He knew just when to push and when to pull back. This has the feel of a slow burn but there is no denying the sizzling chemistry between these two. With the careful integration of his family into Taylor’s life she begins to open up to the possibilities of more.
Just as things start to really get going with this couple, things take a decidedly nasty turn and they are not only at odds with one another but both their lives are in danger at one point or another. The mystery and suspense was intense and completely believable. I thought I knew who the villain was but was totally taken by surprise not once but twice. I love when that happens.
This has a nice pace to it, and I never skimmed. Secondary characters are wonderful and some I imagine already have their book while others I hope we will see more of. I enjoyed the heck out of this book and I look forward to reading more by this author.
Excuse me a minute. I need to recover from this book. Why? Because it was THAT good. Fans of her first novel Further To Fall will remember Taylor as the friend of Carter. Well now we have Taylor’s story. She is grieving the devastating loss of her mother. She decides to move to Sutter Lake after going with friends there on vacation. The small town is what she needs to cope. But she really isn’t. She is hiding from her feelings. Then she meets Walker. Her heart needs him. And his heart needs her as he is coping with the loss of his high school sweetheart whose murder was never solved. If you think this is just a love story. You are so wrong. Yes it’s romantic. You’ll be swooning hard. But this is also a story of grieving and dealing with heartache. I could relate to Taylor deeply. I lost my father to cancer years ago and the loss of someone close to you is hard. This story also has a murder mystery element. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. And all my assumptions about where the story was going were wrong. Get ready for a shock. I just loved this story! I guarantee you will too. And I can’t wait for more!
“He zinged through every nerve ending, danced through every vein. He was in me now and forever.” This quote sums up my love for this book. This read is incredible, and I will forever feel this in my heart. MUST READ.
Oh, Walker and Taylor. Their story tugged at my heart so much. Both of them have experienced loss of the worst sort, yet they’re still standing. Walker is further removed from his grief than Taylor, so when the new woman in town awakens his heart and soul, he’s ready to take the chance. Unfortunately for him, Taylor is nowhere near ready and is busy building walls and cages around her heart to avoid ever loving or losing someone again. These two manage to get together (with some “just friends first” trickery on Walker’s part) and find their way to healed and happy ever after by the end of the book, with some suspense and worry thrown in to keep it all interesting.
Catherine Cowles has proven again that she has fantastic stories to weave from her mind and that she won’t let me down when I dive into one of her novels. I can’t wait to see what her third book brings! I have a few ideas…or hopes…as to who and how, so I’ll be (im)patiently waiting for her next book.
This was so good! This is the second book of Ms. Cowles’s that I have read and I really love the way she writes! I started this and finished this in the span of one evening. Highly recommend this wonderful read!!
Another great read!!! Absolutely loved Taylor and Walkers story. It’s a story of a broken girl, trying to trust and open her heart to love when she has nothing left! The well loved town cop with a broken heart, trying to over come his loss while dealing with a crazy serial killer in his perfect quiet town. I also really enjoyed the way other characters were pulled in from further to fall. It was suspenseful but still had a beautiful love story. Can’t wait for more to come!!! 5 read for me!!
