It feels like I’ve been waiting forever to read this book lol.
When we meet Tessa in Taylor & Walker’s book I just knew that she had a story to tell and that it would be a sad one. That poor girl went through alot and I just wanted to hug her so much.
Tessa is so freaking strong. After her putting up with a hell of alot she decides that she needs to run. With the help from her only friend she flees and moves to Sutter Lake to start a new life. She eventually gets a job she loves and has her friend/boss Jensen and the Cole family who love her alot.
Liam is a singer in LA. But after something happens when he got back to his room one night he just needs to get away. So in Taylor’s book he ends up going to visit her in Sutter Lake and ends up staying. He just wanted to stay away from all the Hollywood scene for a while and can start to concentrate on his music.
Gahhh I liked Liam in Further To Fall. But in this book damn I bloody loved him. He’s sweet, funny, caring and just so damn sexy.
I loved that we get to see more from the previous character from Taylor’s book.
This book had everything. It was fun and sweet in parts, had some sexy parts too and then we got the suspense. Loved it.
Now I can’t freaking wait for Jensen’s book now. That poor girl.
Catherine well done on another fantastic book xx

Catherine Cowles has yet again given us a lushly written romance that will simultaneously make your heart melt and ache, and introduces you to two characters who have to fight their demons to be together.
Tessa Fitzpatrick is on the run from her violent ex, who unfortunately is influencial and has a long reach. She flees to the other side of the country and changes everything – her name, her appearance, her life. As long as the past stays dead, she’ll remain alive.
Liam Fairchild is a famous singer, but he’s lost his voice. An overenthusiastic fan leaves him needing to flee LA, and he comes to Sutter Lake where one of his best friends, Taylor (the heroine of the previous book), lives. He needs the privacy and space to work out what he wants to do with career, but there is something about the woman who works at the local cafe that piques his interest. It’s clear Tessa is hiding something and she’s skittish around him at first, but his kind and gentle nature means that Tessa comes to slowly trust him.
Liam figures out she’s been hurt, although he has no idea to what extent. His fame is the very thing Tessa is trying to avoid – can they overcome their differences to make the budding romance between them work, or will Tessa be unable to overcome the past that haunts her and push Liam away for good?
Catherine is a wonderful author and I very much enjoy getting lost in the world she’s created, with characters I can care about. I can’t wait to read book three in this fantastic series!

I loved Tessa and Liam’s story!!! Tessa truly has a broken life, she has suffered both physically and emotionally and yet she is fighting for a new life. She is looking over her shoulder every minute of the day ready to run if she’s found, afraid to let anyone get close, afraid to tell anyone her story. Liam, the hot rockstar, shows up at the tea shop Tessa is a baker for and it’s instant attraction. Liam is a good man with lots of patience and understanding… a beautiful love story. Lots of drama and suspense coming from each of their pasts in this beautifully written book.

“‘Sometimes, it takes life breaking apart for it to get you where you’re truly meant to be.’”
Tessa and Liam. I have never met a woman so broken and a man so willing to be the hero she needs. Brava Catherine Cowles. This book was SO much more than I was expecting. To the point that I inhaled it more than 100% when I cracked it open to that first page.
Beautifully Broken Life is that book that teaches you about the little things in life when it’s not going the way you expect it or the way you want it to. It’s about the little things and the people you have in your corner no matter how much you try to ignore them. It’s about taking those broken things about yourself and turning them into something beautiful and realizing you’re more beautiful because of them. Catherine Cowles taught me that and I’ll forever be grateful for her for digging deep and helping us readers to learn that.
Tessa and Liam. Sigh. This couple is the bees knees. The love this couple grows for each other is earth shattering. I can remember this one part in the book where I just kept shouting, “just love each other already! Stop acting like you don’t deserve it.” My level of frustration was real but it was definitely worth the wait.
The struggle these characters saw became their battle scars that turned into the revolving cherished love they have for each other. That’s what Beautifully Broken Life is about. And I can’t wait for everyone to read it.

5 beautifully broken stars! This book was an absolute roller coaster of emotion. I loved Tessa and her strength and determination but it was really Liam who stole my heart with his patience, kindness and understanding. The story flowed well, and was one of those books that breaks your heart before putting it back together again. I just adore this series and cannot wait for more!

Beautifully Broken Life is book two in the Sutter Lake series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but you will see characters crossover from previous books. First time reading, never will you feel like your lost; not your first time reading then you are excited to see that two characters we wanted to know more about are having their story told.
This is a story about two people from different worlds coming to a small town to escape for different reasons. Your emotions will get the best of you while reading this. From the beginning to end you will want to keep reading and you can only pray and hope that Tessa and Liam get the life they both deserve. The suspense is held throughout the whole book and pieces of the puzzles fit one minute and then don’t the next. In the end you will end up with not only a full heart, but a full belly with all those sweets you imagine you can taste. Whew! No pounds gained. Hahaha
Tessa endured a life no one should have to but is strong and brave. I loved a little twist of fate that occurred on the ranch. Liam maybe a rock star, but everyone needs a little break from the crazy sometimes. I loved how he was called “Hollywood”. You had me there for a bit on the past, present and future on a few things is all I will say. Thankfully it ended Beautifully and not Broken. One thing you will love is that this story focuses on reality issues and I hope will help others that may have experienced what Tessa did. There is not a book by this author that does not break you and heal you in one sitting.
Tuck yourself in the small town of Sutter Lake and let’s hope that Jensen is next to get a story. You will be wishing you can visit this small town, the ranch and be friends with this bunch of family/friends.

*ARC kindly provided by Catherine and I’m leaving an honest review*
I loved and adored this book. Honestly, if I could I would give 10 + stars. I was hooked from page one, couldn’t put it down and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it’s my favorite book in the series. Liam and Tessa are so special to me and they were so amazing throughout the book. Also I loved the setting – scenery in this book and that it was written in dual POV. As I said before, Catherine’s storytelling is powerful, articulate, eloquent and captivating with so much depth and heart. It was well written and well developed. The plot was fantastic, the characters real and twists and turns unpredictable.

Amazing love story
Beautifully Broken Life is the second book in interconnected Sutter Lake series. It wasn’t just about falling in love but also about grief, family, friendship, learning how to rediscover, pick up the pieces, find yourself and start anew. I love the way Catherine portrays characters’ emotions, makes them believable and so real that I could identify with them, how we can see both characters’ development through the book, individually and together, how they are dealing with issues/ obstacles and how they were little by little falling in love.
“But was falling such a bad thing, she wondered. Was it, perhaps better to see the top of the mountain, even if only for a moment, than never to even try? Or was it that the higher you allow yourself to climb, the further you have to come crashing down to earth?”
— The Declaration by Gemma Malley
Tessa is on the run trying to escape an abusive past. She is one of the lucky ones to have escaped and survived. She is constantly on the run and looking over her shoulder. Because of her past she doesn’t trust easily and is skittish. She loves horses and she feels at ease with them. Tessa is kind and gentle soul and a fighter and survivor. I love her determination to take control over her life and to start living again, not just existing and living in fear.
Liam is a famous musician in LA. He hadn’t had it easy lately, so he seeks sanctuary in Sutter Lake. He tries to find inspiration for his music so he thinks that the change of scenery will help him with that. Liam is kind, charming, easy going, vulnerable, perfectly imperfect. I just love the way he likes food
“I find pieces in you in every song I listen to”
Watching Liam and Tessa fall in love was pretty epic and marvelous. I loved the way Liam was talking to her and how gentle and understanding he was. From the moment Liam and Tessa met he was instantly drawn to her. It’s like his soul knew that they are meant to be. The more time they spend together the stronger became their connection that they felt. I loved their interaction; their conversations and the way Tessa was starting to feel at ease with him once she started to trust him and got to know him. They are each other’s match and so good for each other. I love how protective Liam was of her and the way he never gave up on them. The epilogue so beautiful and I never wanted it to end.
I love that we got glimpses at secondary characters like Austin, Ford, Walker – his family, Taylor and Tuck but also an introduction to the new character Cain (who I’m so curious about now).
This series is really amazing. It’s filled with so much love and so much heart. In my opinion it will attract the readers who love contemporary romance and romantic suspense mixed with mystery, intrigue, damaged, rugged heroes and strong, fierce heroines. I look forward to the next one.

This book is truly a touching story. My review can do it justice. The strength that comes through in the writing of Tessa is magnificent! And Liam…..what can I say. He was perfect for Tessa. He sees her for how strong she truly is, especially after all she has gone through. He doesn’t give up and shows her that not all men areean and abusive. I loved this book! The series just keeps getting better!

Where do I begin? What a beautiful story with amazing characters.
This is book 2 in The Sutter Lake Series, which is about Tessa and Liam. I knew from when we met Tessa, she had a story to tell. I didn’t imagine how bad it was though. My heart broke for her and all that she endured. Enter Liam who who’s in Sutter Lake to get away from the fame and just wants peace. Who knew what he was running from too.
With the two of them together, we see a story about hurt, love, learning to trust again, believing in yourself , acceptance and happiness. Catherine brought out all the feels making this one of my top reads for 2019!!
.
I cant wait for the next book in this series! Those two I have been waiting for since day one
The great thing about taking a chance on new authors is you see how amazing their writing is can’t wait for everyone to experience it for themselves. Just know that Catherine is one to look out for and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!

I am speechless,
Guys, Catherine Cowles just gave us a story that will stick with us for a very long time. I loved EVERYTHING about this story, I loved the characters, their story, the way courage took place, the strength behind EVERY character, the SELF LOVE.
This was so much more than a love story, don’t get me wrong, it had an amazing love story that I fell so hard for. But what I took from this book was more than a love story. I took self love, patience, courage, and understanding. I loved how Catherine gave us these characters and made us grow and see things how THEY were seeing and experiencing them. I loved Tessa so much, she was so strong and so admirable. She made me cry a river, but she also made me admire her so much. She didn’t have an easy life, but she NEVER let that get in the way of trying to do better for herself. She might think she’s weak, but she is everything but weak. Liam, boy did I love Liam. He was so strong and so understanding. The way he did things and was so calm and patient had me falling in love with him from the start. I need a real life Liam.
This story will take you in an unforgettable ride, it will make you understand and love these characters so much you will be thinking about this story for a long time. What I took from this story is; do NOT let fear keep you from being in a place or situation where you are hurting, do not let fear stop you from believing that you are strong enough and worthy enough, love yourself enough to leave and let people in, let people in even when you’re scared, and do not let love slip away. DO NOT end the week, month, year without reading this beautiful book. Catherine Cowles just became one of my favorite authors.

OMG!!!! Intense, heartbreaking, suspenseful and beautiful are the first words I think of when I think of this book. This is the second book in the Sutter Lake series and while it can be read as a standalone I would highly recommend reading these books in order so that you really get the whole story. All of the characters that we meet in book 1 are in this book and there are times when things are mentioned that if you hadn’t read the first one you won’t quite understand.
Tessa was definitely a mystery in the first book and so to finally get her story was amazing. She is such a strong amazing character and I was so hooked on her story that I could not put this book down. From start to finish this book had me on the edge of my seat. There was drama and moments that had me dying to know what was going to happen next. I felt so many emotions throughout this entire story, plus, every time I thought I had things figured out I realized that there was another twist that I didn’t see coming. You will not be disappointed!
A must read book and series for sure! By Alisa

REVIEW: 4+ STARS
“How could a simple touch undo me?”
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!
Ok, now that I got that out of my system….haha!! I love when a story and an author breaks the mold and gives me a read that soars beyond my hopes and expectations. This story was it. This book, it gave me a sense of calm. That’s what came over me while reading this unlikely love story full of mystery and desires. Obviously I crave the angsty, nitty-gritty reads, but apparently I like Catherine Cowles’ sweetness too. Who knew?? Add to it, this isn’t but it is a rockstar romance – but not like your normal, run of the mill ones. So different on every level playing field, and I enjoyed that immensely!
There is an innocence to Cowles’ writing. But it’s also the type of giddy and excited that makes me smile bigger and happier when I go to recommend a book like this one — and I will be recommending this one heartily. I fell into this one immediately after finishing Beautifully Broken Pieces and her smooth transition from one story to the next was followed with ease. I loved that I could have two completely different storylines, thoroughly intertwined with one another, yet ultimately separate. She touched on the reality of some really harsh and painful subjects, but it wasn’t the main focus, and the love story and the growth were. These subjects aren’t made light of, not by any means, nor was she disrespectful to the intensity of which these subjects can and should be handled. She made it a vibrant part of the story, however, it was character driven so that made it very enjoyable for me. There wasn’t any dwelling in the dramatic or sad parts and I appreciated that greatly.
There is a little bit of a romantic suspense to this series with each book so far, and she carried it right over into this one as well. The drama….? Not my favorite kind – again, but it fit the story. So while it was drama, it wasn’t annoying. I read with anticipation, because I needed to know the who and the what and the why and see justice, for sure! I really, really smiled throughout this story watching Liam and Tessa fall in love. The tiptoes around the fear, the handholding around the pain, and the love that grew through an elaborate amount of trust.
“Liam Fairchild was a potent mixture of hard lines and smooth edges.”
One thing I think Cowles has in the bag is honest, hardworking, emotionally available men…..I love her men. I love the way she writes them. I love the stories they have to tell. I love the way they treat their women. I am just in love. Their patience is of a different breed. Their kindness knows no bounds. Their hearts go above and beyond and their women suffer from nothing but overbearing (in all the right ways) love. I love the visual she gave me, as well as the mentality of them. We have some good men out here in Oregon and “seeing” them in this story just made me smile and be proud. Not quite country, not quite big city. Love it! This story was soooo easy to connect to – gosh, I loved it!!
Does this mean I am turning into a softy? No way. Nuh uh. Can’t do it. I need the grit and the turmoil. I like the stomach twisting angst and the headiness that comes with it. I won’t lie and say that this is my favorite trope, because it’s not. But I will say that this is how I venture into tropes and storylines and new authors – it’s when I find an author that can write some specific way and I connect with it. Catherine Cowles is that sweet writer that I can easily connect with her stories and have fallen in love with her. So now I will have to follow her around like a lovesick puppy. #FairWarning
This Sutter Lake Series does carry over many of the characters from Further To Fall, and I reviewed that one HERE. I said in that review how much I loved Cowles’ voice, and it just got stronger and stronger with each subsequent book I read. I can officially say I’ve read ALL her books now. HA! I know…it’s only three books, but what a way to start. The excitement I am feeling about the next story has me all giddy!!! Tuck’s story in Beautifully Broken Spirit will be an emotional one. This will go live on October 22, 2019. I cannot wait!!! Bring it on!
“He seemed to be a master of gentle pressure. Enough to encourage me out of my comfort zone, but not so much that I felt bullied.”

“Sometimes, it takes life breaking apart for it to get you where you’re truly meant to be.”
This book is AMAZING. The story itself is beautiful, and it’s beautifully crafted. I can’t say the word “beautiful” enough to describe this story and its two main characters. Tessa is a strong female character with a few quirks, and Liam is a sweetheart. He’s patient and understanding and really only wants the best for Tessa.
“I didn’t deserve her, but I was going to do my best to take care of the gift she was.”
This book gave me all the feels with its romance, and also a few chills with the touch of suspense. It’s a fantastic mixture! Sutter Lake is also a quaint small town with many likable secondary characters as well. This is definitely a must read!

Liam is struggling with things that have happened in his life as a rockstar and is in Sutter Lake to help get his mojo back within himself. While having a secret of his own that could bring an end to his budding relationship with Tessa.
Tessa is in Sutter Lake to heal and hide. She is an injured soul who has a way with baking, art and horses. She also has a beautiful caring nature. She must learn that at some point she can stop hiding and lean on others. She can grow stronger with the love of others and not everyone will hurt you.
When the two of them come together it is wonderful and touching. Liam is so enamored of Tessa and has to learn to be patient and show Tessa that not all men are the same. That there are people who can be supportive and let you be in control of your own life. A true partner is all you need and just that little bit extra.
They both learn to accept, support, laugh and love each other. By doing this they both grow stronger as a couple and individuals.
I loved their story so much. Catherine Cowles has a true story telling talent. I can’t wait to read what comes next for Sutter Lake!

Beautifully Broken Life is the second book in the Sutter Lake series by Catherine Cowles and it will blow you away! This book was truly amazing!
We are originally introduced to Tessa in Beautifully Broken Pieces as the quiet, extremely shy girl. You find out in her book that while she gives that impression, she is so much more. She is an incredible Baker, incredibly kind, and searching for her own freedom.
Liam Fairchild is a rock star in hiding. Best friends with Taylor from book one, Liam is Sutter Lake for a couple of reasons, mostly because he is trying to write new music. When he runs into Tessa, literally, at the Tea Kettle where she works he may not have imagined his life would change forever.
I loved Liam and Tessa so much! While they each had their own worries and to some degree, secrets, they found a foundation to build a relationship. One, especially Tessa, thought she would never have.
If you haven’t read the Sutter Lake series yet do so immediately! It is amazing! Thank you Catherine Cowles for your amazing writing!

Just when I think a book by Catherine Cowles can’t be any better than the last, she blows my mind. This story had me hooked from line one until the end. I didn’t want it to end. This series has been so amazing. This is the story of Liam and Tessa. They both have their baggage and are running. The small town of Sutter Lake is their haven at the moment. The push and pull between them is so addicting. As the reader you want to scream, be together! But I understand the hesitation. Their are pasts and pain but with each other there is chance for happiness, healing and escape. This isn’t just a romance. This is a story of survival. And it answered some of the questions I had from the last book. While you could read this book and keep along with the story, it’s best if you read from the start of the series. I can’t praise this book enough. You will be hooked and been totally consumed by these characters and their story. I know I still am.

Well, I read this book in one evening/night. A work night. As in I need to be up for work in about 4.5 hours yet here I am writing a review. That alone should tell you how much I enjoyed this story.
I absolutely loved Tessa and Liam! Such a sweet couple. And the supporting characters… I am so ready for ‘Little J’s’ story next. Hopefully next I should say.
This is book 2 in the series. I have not read the prior story, but I did feel this one read well on its own. I do plan to go back and read the first book next. This is a new to me author.
I highly recommend this one!

Catherine Cowles has really hit it out of the park! I couldn’t wait to read all about Liam and I was beyond curious about Tessa’s story and everything came together in Beautifully Broken Life. I had so many questions about Tessa’s past and what her story was when we met her in Beautifully Broken Pieces. The more I read I could literally feel my heart break for this girl who has been through so much but kept trying to live her life. Liam is the perfect fit for our Tessa. Everything about this man throughout this book just made me swoon harder for him. Sexy, sweet, understanding and supportive what is there not to love?! I couldn’t put their story down and I was so happy to see some of our other favorite people from Sutter Lake. Loved everything about this and can’t wait to see what’s next!

I’ve had a major book hangover all day. I stayed up late finishing this book and then I couldn’t turn my brain off so I could sleep causing the book hangover. My heart broke, was healed and broken again but all in all, I was healed again. My emotions are spent in the best way. I love when a book grabs you and takes you on a rollercoaster of a ride. Catherine Cowles made me fall in love with all the characters from Sutter Lake again.
This story was beautifully written and I won’t lie, I cried several times. My heart broke and ached for Tessa. She was such an amazing character that was worth getting to know. And Liam…well, I’ve had a thing for him since Further To Fall and he did not disappoint in this book. I loved how patient he was with Tessa. He gave her space but let her know she was in control and he waited and was so kind to her. He was simply perfect. “You make this life so much more beautiful.”
This is a story that will stay with you. It’s about healing, about hope, finding your strength and overcoming your past. I loved every single word. Catherine has become a go to favorite author and I can’t wait to read more from her.

Another amazing book by Catherine Cowles. Wow this book was breathtaking. I fell for this book right from the Prologue. The words that Catherine writes are beautiful and they will have you hooked.
I loved how I was able to connect with the characters and feel their emotions throughout the book.
Tessa ran away from an abusive relationship and is living day by day hoping that her ex doesn’t find her. My heart breaks for her because no one should live afraid. She finds people that care for her in Sutter Lake but cannot open up to them because she is afraid of the what could happen.
Liam Fairchild, the rockstar, is trying to find himself and wants to write music that is meaningful to him. He goes away to Sutter Lake to stay away from Hollywood and everything that he dislikes.
Tessa and Liam’s story is beautiful and it will have you turning every page and not wanting to put this book down. This romantic suspense book will make have you at the edge of your seat but trust me because everything will be worth it.
It feels like I’ve been waiting forever to read this book lol.

I love this book and can’t wait for more.
