PiperMost people don’t think about the day they’ll die. They coast through life, blissfully unaware of how their time is ticking away. I wasn’t like most people. I welcomed death, wanted her to take me away from the prison I called life, but she refused. I tried twice only to survive. And then, when I thought I had nothing left it came. A reason to live. Rex was a small, unexpected ray of light … small, unexpected ray of light my world of darkness that blossomed into a beam of sunshine. I thought, maybe this was why Death didn’t take me. Maybe she knew that if I held on a little longer things would turn around. But the third time Death came to my door wasn’t by choice. Someone else brought her, and I fear this time she might take me.
Rex
Being the son of a country star sucks. My parents are never around, I move every year or so, and I have no real friends. Everyone around me has an agenda. Everyone except Piper Lovelace. I can’t get that girl to notice me. Trust me I’ve tried.
Thankfully, fate stepped in and gave me the break I needed. I’ve got her attention, now I need her to give me a chance.

Piper Lovelace is a hot mess. Life is bad enough, the rumors are vicious, and the bullies are far worse. When you can’t beat them, the only thing you can do is join them.
Of course, I wouldn’t do that, and I don’t think it’s advisable to slap a scarlet letter on one’s chest and claim harlot-dom, but I’m not Piper.
Bailey B.’s first book deals with a lot of trigger topics, the least of which is rape–and that is saying something. Piper’s dealing with a lot of psychological trauma, and what complicates it further is she resists help. It’s common for traumatized people to twist what happens to them and who they are into one mess in their heads. Beautifully Broken frames this psychology honestly.
While I liked the concept of this story, some of the other characterizations didn’t feel as tangible as Piper. The insta-love story of Rex and Piper weighed against the substantive background subjects unbalances the plot.
Rex is perfect boyfriend material but more ideal for a different story. I like that he has this freshness to his character, but he feels too good to be true–that feeling isn’t something I could resolve. With such a dear message to be found in the pages of this book, I wish there was less of a fairytale love story.
If you enjoy authors like Tijan, Sheridan Anne, or Meagan Brandy, this might be for you.
Beautifully Broken by Bailey B a five-star read that shows there is beauty in being broken. This is number one in the Broken Love series and I am already excited for number two and three. Piper is just such an epitome of strength, everything she has been through would break women much older and more mature. Reading as she stands up to the other kids and allows some of it to just go over her shoulders just shows a different side of her, a stronger side that blew me away. Rex was so much more than I could ever imagine, he appears like this strong popular kid with a Rockstar parent, but there is so much more to him, so much more to his story. Rex is the tiny ray of light and when he shines it on Piper it grows and becomes so much brighter. This was my first by this author and do you know what I cannot wait for more, there is something about the writing that just pulls me in.
Too much going on in this first book in the Broken Love Series. It was hard to put this one down.
Piper had too much in her plate at her young age. Traumatized for her past events, living in a foster home, pursued by a guy. But a spark of hope came into view when she met Rex. He is the hot guy, son of a country music star, living on his own due to the absence of his parents. They are two broken souls that will involve you in your anguish and sweet story.
Beautifully Broken was a good start for a debut novel. Is dark and has some trigger topics. I liked the plot a lot and the characters. But I found that the book needs editing and every chapter ended abruptly. She has the makings of a writer. Only needs to polish it up.
Bailey B. is a new author to me and I am so happy she found me!
This book was so heartbreakingly beautiful. She had me hook from the beginning. Piper, oh man this poor girl. Having the life she had and all she had to grow up with, just broke my heart. But how she handled everything and everyone made me proud of her. She could have had the pity me card or the I hate the world and everyone in it. Yes she had that attitudes little but I have very surprised with her attitude on life.
Rex had to grow on me a little lol. But once he did, I adored him. To learn more of his past and childhood helped me love him. Then to see how he was with Piper just made me swoon.
I am looking forward to more from Bailey and her next book!!

(once you read this you will understand this rating more. I don’t want to give away anything but I also don’t want this to make you not want to read it. It has a reason behind it, read the book and you will see hehe.)
recommendation
Beautifully Broken is a well-written, dark romance about two high-school seniors, Piper and Rex. Piper has had an incredibly difficult life between her drug-addicted, prostitute mother and her on-again/off-again time in foster care. What confuses me from the beginning, however, is her “slutty girl” reputation. People assume she’s a slut because of her mother, however, rather than ignore and avoid those rumors, she fuels them by pretending to trade sexual favors for money. Hello? Self-sabotage much? Rex has had a very privileged life financially but without any love and support from his parents. As the child of a country music star, Rex has been raised by his nanny, Gretchen, until recently when his parents bought the most recent home that they moved him to – to live in alone. So although he doesn’t really like anyone at school, he throws these huge parties just so people will be around. It felt a little like Gatsby to me, especially once he zeroed in on Piper and kept hoping she would show up. And why would she if everyone hates her and vice versa?
So some things were confusing to me, but overall, I enjoyed this romance and was rooting for each of them to get their HEA. Rex is absolutely swoon-worthy, so anyone looking for their next YA book love, he is it. It was more challenging for me to like and connect with Piper because of her strange outlook on dealing with the school bullies, but my heart couldn’t help but beat a little faster as she and Rex started to really connect with one another. Bailey B.’s debut novel is sweet and romantic, but just a little too unrealistic at times. I think a younger person will certainly find this to be a five-star read.

Beautifully Broken is a story that will tug at your heart and have you wanting to hug Piper and Rex. This is a young adult story that even older adults will enjoy (I did). Piper has a life no one wants or should ever experience. Thankfully she has a foster family (Mama T and the Harris twins, Logan and Cooper) who aids her in all aspects to help pull her through some dark times. It doesn’t help that we get a twist on a twin, shame on you! (all I will say to avoid a spoiler). Met Rex, all people dream of having his life, but being rich and famous has its’ drawbacks (just use Rex as the perfect example). Both Rex and Piper are broken in their own ways, but fate brings them together when death has other plans and why they are still here. Piper is close with Cooper, but good old Cooper is not taking well to this bond between Piper/Rex. Love where this goes, as it is sad, but eye opening as well! Logan was no saint and he hides the true him really well. The darkness in him shall prevail and I cannot wait to get his story (ILUIHU). This story just goes to show you that all broken people have a beautiful soul and purpose in life. It may not be an easy life, but the lesson that comes with it is what makes you that much stronger. This is the authors debut book and you would think she has been writing for years. I look forward to reading more by this author.
This book was such an emotional rollercoaster. The main character Piper, I could relate to. Not being able to trust anyone. The emotions that you could feel between all of the characters felt so real. It was a slow burn romance that makes you want to get to the end of the book to figure out what happens. There are quite a few twists that you don’t see coming. This book was so powerful and so beautifully written. There are trigger warnings so read this book at your own risk if you have a problem with rape and self harm. I personally thought I was going to have a hard time getting through this book because of the triggers. But the more I read on the easier it got. I was able to feel at bay with things that I have went through. This books shows that a people can get through rough patches in their life if they try hard enough and it was so beautiful to read. I will say that this is one of my favorite books so far this year. I loved every second of it, every plot twist. I didn’t want to put it down, I stayed up late nights to read it because it was that good. I highly recommend reading this if you can read past the triggers and deal with hard hitting situations. This book was absolutely beautiful I can’t say it enough.
4.5 Stars
I loved this book! This story was great and I loved the characters. I am hoping she continues writing about Bane,Logan and Cooper because I would love to hear their stories. This book wasn’t total insta-love but it was pretty close. Surprisingly it didn’t take away from the story like it usually does. I can’t wait to read more from this author even it’s not part of this world.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thanks Netgalley and Booksgosocial.

I really love discovering new authors so when I was asked to read this book I didn’t hesitate for a second and I’m so glad because this was a really good story. It was heartbreaking and took me on an emotional journey. I loved Piper & Rex so much. This book hooked me right away and kept my attention all the way to the end.
Oh my goodness! This is a first book from this author and I loved it more than I thought! If you are looking for a YA with emotional twists that will leave your heart breaking but have a swoon worthy love story to boot? This book is for you! I fell in love with Piper and felt her pain just like I loved Rex and felt his as well! I would love to see a book on the twins and Bane’s story as well! There is a second story and cannot wait to see who it is about!
The story is very emotional rollercoaster.
Two young adult in the senior year of high school. Two broken souls.
Very traumatic past push them together to be saviours to each other.
Recommended for all ages, but keep Kleenex handy.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Beautifully Broken by Bailey B was both an emotional and heartbreaking read as it was sweet and charming. Piper has not had an easy life and that is an understatement. She has suffered so much and does not want to live anymore. Rex is a child of a celebrity, but even so, life has not been easy for him. He may look like he has everything he could possibly want but looks can be deceiving. Though there are rampant rumors about her, she intrigues Rex. He wants to get to know her. Can she open up her heart to Rex and trust it will be in good hands? I absolutely loved Rex. He was sweet and gentle with Piper.
Beautifully Broken by Baily B was emotional as Rex and Piper deal with so much and yet when they were together it was unbelievably sweet. But their journey is not an easy one. I was captivated with this story from start to finish.
Read and reviewed for Reviews From the Heart.
Happy reading!
4 Cranky Stars
Piper is many things but the school slut everyone labeled her as is not one of them. For years she’s been teased and tormented for being her mother’s daughter. She only has a few more months and then she can leave this part of her life behind… or can she?
Rex has lived his life as the son of a famous country star. Never wanting for anything except the love and acceptance of his parents, only to be dumped off with the nanny. He’s never known love until he meets Piper.
Now Rex and Piper are dodging danger while discovering their new relationship. Pipers past keeps lurking around every corner and it seems Rex is determined to protect Piper at every turn.
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline and characters are amazing and unique. What did bug me was that this book needs editing. It was really distracting to have the wrong words in spots or extra words. One part in particular actually mixed up the names. I wanted to give this book 5 stars and normally for these type of errors I’d drop it to a 2 or 3 but this book gripped me like no other. Kudos to this author on her first book and I hope to see many more.
